Good Morning Horse Friends,
Tracking no yesterday but back on it today.
Horse show was fun. I get so nervous doing a new division but now that I have the first one done I should improve. I had someone video me and it was very useful to watch later. I am not sharing them LOL. I got a 5th, 6th, and 4th over fences and a 4th in the flat class. There were only 6 horses in the division. My first round was pretty nice but Lukas swapped leads going around the end of the ring. I met my goal of staying on and remembering the course so my head should be more in the game next time. Lukas got extra treats yesterday and I kept him off the trailer to hand graze in the shade for a long time as a thanks for putting up with me! I like this division and will be here a long time I think. No need to move up.
A bonus was that I was actually back from the show in time join DD1 and DH for father's day dinner at Olive Garden.
Beth- I did not watch the bird cam over the weekend so I am glad you told us about the chicks. I am going to try the new cam.
Going to my workout class this morning. Hopefully getting the walls painted today.
HAGD Amy

Hi, all! No tracking this weekend but started up again today. Back from a fun but hot and mosquito-filled weekend! Amy, glad you had a good show! Sounds like you did well with the move up the division...good job! Barb, sorry about the humidity...it can take the energy right out of you. Hope you find something fun to do, other than balance checkbooks! Beth, bummer about the chicks...but yes, it is nature at it's saddest. Sorry about DH...I hope he gets the sx soon and it helps with the pain. Libby, glad Lucy got home OK. Rain? You had rain? It was blazing hot here this last weekend. Faye, yeah, sometimes tracking is just not worth it...been there, ignored what I was trying to accomplish. Sometimes having a goal is good (for me, decreasing cholesterol). Hi to Dutch! Camp was great...lots of amazing music, but felt so...inadequate. My teacher was there for afternoon sessions (she's not a morning kind of gal). I just wish I could have done other classes, but was there for the harp so stuck with that. Lots of fiddlers, some banjos and mandolins, quite a few guitars and some flutists (sp?). There's a Santa Cruz band named Molly's Revenge and apparently they do a lot of the teaching so good to have a seasoned group providing instruction. A couple of us harpists tried to sit in on sessions to play along...pretty funny because we didn't really know what we were doing and hid in the back, but great experience. Next year we're bringing the lap harps as well since those are easier to move around. So hot though...and so many mosquitos! And the loo was a distance from the cabins so 3am when I usually hit the bathroom was quite the adventure Glad to be home with kitty and my shower I did manage to get all my steps in while at camp so at least feel like I stayed mildly active. They opened the pool between 4 and 5, so we did partake on Saturday as that was the hottest...felt so good! Did some ceile (sp?)dancing Sat evening as well so definitely did well that day Today is mostly laundry and catching up with work. Cathy

Hi horsey folks
I'm on the mend but still sick. Trouble is.. lack of sleep is NOT helping, stress does not help... and I'm just well enough to pretend I'm not sick. Just drowning in work... it is what it is.
But I think DH had decent dad day. Kid had good weekend. Zero Ally time .. grrr - my fault tho.
I love reading about your day!

Hi everyone AMY-thanks for starting the board. sounds like a great show!! I plan on getting back to tracking tomorrow. BARB-i'm with you on the AC. yesterday after the brunch at the MEt (fabulous BTW) we walked for about 1.5 miles and it was hot. Darted into Bergdorf to "look around" --I just needed the AC before continuing. I call it my "Disney in the summer" strategy. --gift shop to gift shop to just cool off pouring now and some thunder. luckily got home before it started CATHY-camp sounds great but I'm not a camping sort of person so a loo not in the room wouldn't do it for me. I am so impressed you sat in on a session. I have a friend that keeps inviting me and I'm chicken. not sure I'd even know what key there were in let alone what chord to play. BETH-hope DH finds relief once he has surgery. did he finish his teaching? is he free now for the summer? Glad you walk when you can DUTCH-glad DH had a nice Father's day. hope you feel better. Can you do anything to destress a little? LIBBY-is Rosie happier now that Lucy is back? the installer person was fabulous. what a gem. she changed cable stuff so needed the rewiring etc. he was amazing and much faster than anticipated and got there early so DH got me and we got home about 30 min before the storm started. Hooray. Laundry is up now. tomorrow eye dr. appt (annual) then will take it easy. the Met. museum brunch was yummy and small portions and healthy . ok not the dessert but a very small portion so not so awful. with this weather my hip is sort of tender and the silly torn ligament in the foot still hurts so my toes hurt. doesn't stop me from walking but annoying. spent the evening with her moving stuff so they could get to the wires. fun but tiring. waving to all. HAGE

Can you do anything to destress a little? Retire and get divorced? I'm kidding, but only partly. Yes, I keep looking for different job... yes, we're in counseling...

Good evening. DH's weed eater conked out so it had to go to the shop. Meanwhile he bought a much less expensive one to use as a back up. He wants to get the yard mowed and weed eaten before he had surgery. He sees the dr tomorrow to schedule surgery. He finished his bus training class this past Friday. I had someone video me and it was very useful to watch later. I used to get DH to video tape me while I showed and also sometimes while I was training. It helps so much to see what you feel under the saddle.

Hi Horsey Friends, Tracking yes Cathy- camp sounds like fun and next year you will know the ropes and be more prepared. I love ceili dancing! Although I don't do it much, just at Irish parties. I am going to start attending an adult Irish dancing class in the fall so we will do some there. Faye- Met brunch sounds good. I like when places have small deserts. There is a restaurant near me that serves little desserts in a double shot glass so you get a little sweet without a zillion calories. Have you tried taping 2 of your toes together? I saw it on line so it has to be true right? I don't know which 2 but you can probably look it up on youtube. This was to relieve pain while walking in heels but may work for you?? Dutch-It seems like you are going through a rough patch and I hope it will smooth over soon. Every marriage has it's ups and downs. I hope counseling helps you both figure out a better way forward. Feel better soon! Ally is probably a good way to relieve stress even if you just go be with her for 10 min. and pet her. Barb- humid is right! my show clothes were just glued to me on Sunday. English riders and our "tight pants". LOL. The storms yesterday brought relief to us. I am riding early today. Have you been getting any sales from your new location? I love when you post your art work on FB. Do you still post it all on your website too? Beth- I have 2 weed eaters also. One gas powered which does a great job but is heavy and one electric that is lighter but not as powerful. Looked at the new bird cam. yesterday. Entertaining. I hope your DH's surgery goes perfectly. Libby-How is the kitchen coming along? are you on hold until the countertops are installed? I got the hallway painted yesterday, it looks so much cleaner! My husband is holding a "study club" at our house on Thursday night. They present difficult or interesting cases (dental) and share ideas and any new products they like etc. I am putting some snacks and drinks out but will skip the case reviews . The step project is still on going but he said he doesn't care at all that it is not completed. It is not a "party". We have some nicer weather so I am heading to the barn early today. Going to the gym this evening for a step class. HAGD Amy

AMY-enjoy the class. glad your painting project is going well. other than finishing the stairs, is there more to do? enjoy step class. BETH-good luck to DH at the surgeon today. sorry about the weed wacker, glad you have a backup. DUTCH-watching and petting Ally must be nice and relaxing. I used to love to hear the horses graze and chew. BARB-did you get many storms? wasn't really too bad here. LIBBY-after the countertops are in are you done? CATHY-how did the cat do while you were at harp camp?
not much here today. HAGD . waving to everyone.

Good Morning - Amy- I am still working on updating my website but the woman who controls the blog has been hard to contact (she has to change the categories) nothing yet at the new shops -the one up in the tourist area is a "rental" spot & I was going to bag it but DH says I should give it the month of July as that is when tourists really kick in. (sigh) I'm heading out in a bit as well to ride early - I got the new fly mask in the mail yesterday (fast service) want to try it on Penny -will post here if I can or FB!
Faye-your brunch sounds like fun -I'm not really a dessert fan in restaurants -don't know why-but I eat "stuff" at home! Skinny Cow ice cream treats -they are really good -always have them in freezer at home!
Dutch -hope you feel better soon -stress certainly can get you down -good that you are working on it.
Beth- hope DH gets all his things done before surgery -is it same day or hospital time? How long will recovery be?
Libby -are the horses settling in now that they are both back again? How often do you ride them -do you have a ring right at the house?
Cathy -are you still taking watercolor classes? haven't seen any new posts of them -your work is so peaceful!
Going to try to get organized (again) with glass -next show not for 4 weeks but want to take a bunch of "oldies but goodies" to sell off at bargain prices ($5 & $10) just to move them out so have to go through and retag them.
Off to the barn -HAGD -ride if you can= CBL

This is the second time this week I have had my post all written up and my computer froze or restarted on me and I lost the post! Frustrating! Barb; I try to ride 3x a week, with this kitchen project it has been only once a week or less ;( My sweet dh gave up our backyard (literally) and built me a 112 x 60 foot outdoor arena about 11 years ago with the help of a contractor/horse friend. It needs new sand badly! All I need is money right? I will ride tomorrow evening as I am hosting open arena again at the horse club. Amy; great job on the show, painting - wow your busy! Faye; glad it went well in the city, I love eating desserts at restaurants lol - way too much! I always share Beth; didn't realize dh's surgery was so soon! Dutch; every relationship has it's ups and downs, it's not always easy, hang in there- hugs Cathy; your weekend sounds wonderful!! Hate those pesky mosquitos! Kitchen quote for countertop (was already paid) called and said it's going to be $1200 more $$ ugh! still trying to work that one out-another thing to hold up the kitchen! my floor samples will be in tomorrow and I can make a decision on what the accent color will be in front of the French doors and in the working area of the kitchen. Went to my dnieces new house over the weekend, fun to see newer kitchens/homes, she has really dark floors. Will be cleaning up the guest room today, put a bunch of boxes in there (my china and just stuff). DGD's will be with me for over a week starting Thursday HAGR everyone!

Hi, all...tracking started again yesterday, went over but too hot to cook so ate the wrong things. Will go to the store today for healthy reinforcements Faye, the kitty did fine. She never got used to the sitter staying overnight. I gave her all this info on what Isabelle MIGHT do, but she never did any of it, so the sitter was just 'there' for her if needed. She truly is a one-person cat. Glad you had a good time in the city...it sounds like you helped DD get some work done? Is she OK now, all well? The sessions were like that for us...the first night our harp teacher sat in and got a couple of songs going that we had worked on so we knew the key; pretty much everything after that we were on our own. We talked a lot about what keys the fiddles like to play in so we did "OK". Still were times we never figured out what key they were in (I found some cheater images online to help with settings for minor keys since I'm not very good at that stuff...yet!). Barb, yeah, the watercolor thing has totally stalled. I will start again, I need to find something that will keep me going. I do enjoy it but that picture of my brother...it haunts me (remember Linda and her saw? Same thing). Glad you got a ride in...cooler here as well, w/o the thunderstorms! Want to see that fly hood on Penny! Beth, I have a weed trimmer, but just one, a cheap electric one. My weeds are contained in a 9x17' space so fairly easy to deal with. Hope DH gets a quick sx appointment, sounds like he is ready! Dutch...sigh...sorry all is unrest. Hopefully things will sort themselves out and you can do what you need to do. Did you ever hear back from that one interview? Amy, isn't it nice that DH doesn't require everything to be perfect for his business meeting...less stress for you I think it's great you're going to take some Irish dancing. This was all spur of the moment and none of us knew what we were doing...made it very fun! Yesterday I did get laundry done...mostly. Seem to be missing my nice sweatpants which is a shame. Sure I packed them but never found them at camp, so not sure what happened. Hopefully I'll find them here somewhere... Will go to store today for healthy food. Have meetings that overlap swim time so will try again tomorrow. Has cooled a bit, foggy this morning so hope that today is cooler! Cathy

CATHY-glad cat did well. interesting about the sessions, nice to be able to chat with the fiddle players. DD had new cable installed so just needed to be there so he could do it. nice guy. so it was fine. LIBBY-have fun hosting the horse club. do you do that often? BARB-I'm with Cathy, want to see Penny in her mask and wonder how she'll like it. BETH-hope things went well for DH today. DUTCH-hope you are feeling better. with all the rain allergies are bad for everyone.
bought plums. so far one was awful and threw it out. hope the other 2 are ok, if not, what a waste of $. I get some food delivered (they have great produce) and so by tonight should have healthier food in the house and get back to tracking.
waving to all. HAGD

Howdy howdy
Dr appt this afternoon. I don't really think I have allergies- but certainly something is going on!
Whoop! I found a synthetic western saddle for $100 on FaceBook lol I'm going to pick it up tonight. I won't care that it gets soaking wet, it will be light and it's cheap. And big enough to fit my butt! lol Can't wait! My dressage saddle is for a warmbood - far too large for a 14hh paint horse!
Oh, and nope, have not heard about that job. Yes, I did follow up and.... crickets.
HAGD!

Good evening. We've had lots of rain here. Mostly in the afternoons. When I was walking this morning the temp was 74 but the humidity made it feel like 93. I was soaking wet after walking 3 miles at 3.2mph.
DH's surgery is June 30th. That was the soonest date he could get as the dr only does outpatient surgeries on Mondays and Fridays.

Hi all,
Do y'all wear a lot of different clothes in a day?
Today I had on riding togs, painting clothes, gym clothes, and regular walking around in public clothes to run errands. It is not unusual for me to have several outfit changes in a day, I was just thinking about it.

Hi Horsey Friends,
Tracking-yes
Dutch- That saddle is a good find! I hope it works well for you.
Libby- That seems like a huge jump in the price for the counter top. Why were they so far off in the estimate, did they say? Are you stuck with using this installer or can you go with a different one? Hope you can get some more riding in!
Cathy-Do you have an interest in playing another instrument at camp? I hope you can get back to painting your watercolors. It is unfortunate that you brother's request has created such a "block" for you. Maybe you can set his painting aside for a while.
Faye- I think I was looking at the big pile of laundry when I started thinking about how many outfits I wear in a day. I try to re-wear some clothes but with the gym and riding clothes it can't be done.
Beth- We have been getting some storms and showers in the afternoon. It is nice that you seem to be back to walking at a good pace and distance.
Barb- Good luck with your "clearance sale" and glass organizing. Hope the new fly mask works well.
Riding lesson this morning!
It is our wedding anniversary today but we are waiting until Friday to go out. (31 years)

Hi horse lovers, DH went and talked to the salespersons boss, she transposed a number and that's why it was so off on the countertop and held it up another 5 days! He was kind and gave us another 20% off, so altogether because of the 20% off sale and the 20% off mistake-we got 40% off the countertops and install I'm waiting for the floor samples, seems there was a hitch in the delivery-go figure! After the floor gets done, my dnephews are coming over to replace the siding on the outside of the house and trim out the inside windows. Then hopefully this project will be done! I love the remodel, we took out 3 walls, now trying to put furniture, pictures and decorations up is quite a challenge as I don't have walls lol My friend text me at 6 am yesterday morning, a women and horse went down a 20' cliff into a ravine on a trail in Auburn, she wanted to make sure it wasn't me. The horse didn't get hurt had a big crew there to hoist it out. The human was in critical condition, now I hear she's OK - what ever that means, horse spooked. Yikes! Cathy; hope you find the sweatpants! Beth; that is too hot and humid! Dutch; hope you can get some relief at the docs, yeah on the saddle! Faye; I had kiwi fruit last night to curb my sweet tooth instead of a bad choice, it really helps to have better choices in the house! I helped in the kitchen at the barrel series last night-wow it was busy and parking got tight, it's a huge place! Tonight I host the open arena, I did this years ago, it gets me out riding and pulling my horse trailer, the parking area is huge, so I can practice! Amy; happy anniversary! Barb; how's the inventory going? I'm riding tonight It's sunny and 70-80 all week here HAGR

I went and bought the saddle and cinch. Saddle is huge .. 18" lol, guaranteed to fit my bum! I suspect the girth is too big, but until I start saddling her, no way to truly know. I love that it's so light! It's dirty as heck, but for $100, I won't care if it gets ripped up or wet. It will do the job! Now need a saddle pad

Hi, all. Tracking yes. Faye, glad cable installation went well! I truly hate wasting money on bad fruit. I bought more cherries yesterday (told myself the season was over don't bother) but they LOOKED good and SEEMED firm, but no taste. Quite sad. I bought a new tuner, a Snark. A couple of the harpers used them and I got to try one out...looking forward to it. Mine is probably 45 yo...got it when I played the guitar. I would like to try other instruments, like the bodhan (sp?), the Irish drum? Dutch, nice find on the saddle. As you say, just a training thing, doesn't need to be pretty just mostly functional Did you get anything from the doc or is that later? Amy, too funny about the clothes...I do wear the same sweats/shorts and tees for a few days so not a fresh set every day (don't have enough clothes for that). Libby, at least the countertop folks were willing to work with you and owned up to the mistake! Scary about the horse and rider over a cliff...yikes! Beth, glad you're back to walking but yeah, that kind of humidity can be draining. Glad you sticking with the walks. June 30th will be here before you know it...so it's outpatient surgery? That will be nice, no overnights! Hi to Barb! Have food again, always nice! Will try to go swimming today, it's been over a week (camp didn't count...that was more of 'get me out of the heat' kind of swimming). Cathy

Oh yes, the doctor. *sigh* She said, worst cold and worst allergy season ever this year. Add to that: stress, lack of sleep, and a 4yr old in daycare... and there's the magic of how I got where I'm at! boo! Said it's likely I get like 80-90% well and then another bug comes around and I'm just not healthy enough to fight it off.
So with that... I was asleep in my chair at 7pm last night... went to bed at 8.... and slept until DH alarm went off. I feel a smidge better - at least a little more rested. I'm going to see if I can do this for a few nights - and try to help myself out!
