It was 98 degrees here yesterday, must have been a record for June! So hot I really didn't want to do much. My house got miserable, miss my house I sold in February that had air conditioning!! got up early and opened all the windows for a cool 78 degree breeze Not a lot of people have it here as it only is needed a couple of weeks out of the year. Next Sunday we take off for camping for a week on Mt Hood in Oregon. No horses this trip. Heidi and a neighbor will be watching them. DS will be at Kiwanis camp also on Mt Hood. They have the greatest program there for disabled children and adults! I finally got all the boxes out of the home office, aka my workout room. I don't have any excuse not to exercise at home now lol Amy and Faye, you have inspired me to workout this morning Barb; I didn't make it to our farmers market, glad pup did good. Cathy, how did the cabinet project turn out? Beth; are you having better weather yet? Dutch; trust you are continuing to feel better! HAGD everyone!

Howdy folks! I'm slowly feeling more human! This Hot (100 degrees) and AC isn't helping, but it is what it is! Amy, sorry your trainer is moving, but good for them. Change (when you aren't initiating it) is hard! You'll find another winter trainer! Nope, have not tried my new stuff yet (still waiting for my pad). She's never had a saddle on yet - so all in good time! I saw my vet at an event yesterday and told her what's up. She smile and said nice move. Then proceeded to brag about me to other trainers. (preens) I was feeling pretty good then. Was too hot this weekend to be outside for long! But my win was ... I sprayed fly spray on my girl. She's very afraid of the sprayer... or maybe it's the sound, surprise tickle? I have no idea. BUT she accepted it better than ever yesterday! I'm not saying she stood still or was calm... but she wasn't totally jumping round either! lol Small wins! HAGD all!

Hi, all! Tracking yes, but did go over a bit yesterday (changed WI to Friday's, much better outcome!). Faye, have fun a pilates. Harp lesson today...yay! Libby, so cool that you found space for exercise...do you have a treadmill or bike? Whoa...98 for the Northwest? That is a scorcher...you guys must have got the weather we had a week ago Barb, nice that Tundra did OK in crowds...that takes a bit of work but she's learned so much so far! Eersh...colonoscopy. Prep ain't fun. Dutch, glad you're feeling a little better. Isn't it nice when you hear good things about yourself from others Amy, what's your "tough" workout? Beth, how are you? So, the cabinets have shelf liner done, and I bought some knobs at Cost Plus. Not quite sure about them though...the screw isn't long enough for the drawers and there's nothing at the local Ace store. Might have to drill in from the back and create a...whatever, countersink hole? I'm sure there's a professional term for it, but don't know what it is. Checked Etsy for some ideas, emailed one person said she couldn't change the color (even though it says it takes special orders?). Have to put in the slider tray, probably next weekend. Hips and butt are still sore from the liner installation Sending in check for contractors today (after I have one question answered about the contract). Will probably walk today, and lesson late afternoon. Cathy

CATHY-have a fun lesson. are you working on something new now that the show is over? glad the liners are done.sorry about the knobs. did you try the Anthropology website? i think that's what Im thinking of and I think they had lots of knobs. so does I think Restoration hardware. Good luck. DUTCH-great on the fly spray and super about the vet bragging about you. AMY-yes, what type of exercise workout? i'm back to tracking, too. hope I get more than 1 day in a row LOL BARB-have a good week . at least there's a mani/pedi in there for fun. LIBBY-that does sound hot. sorry no AC. the camp sounds great. What do you do for your workout? so the house you are redoing the kitchen has no AC? can you get one for a window? hope it cools down
waving to all. enjoyed Pilates, we did some new things. picked up some carpet mats (I had some pieces bound from the carpet I had put down to use as boot/shoe mats by the door and we have a mini trampoline in the room so I had them make "coaster size" ones for the legs so they don't imprint the carpet. they came out pretty well.

Hi all - Faye- yes we got the rain -no hail but also very windy -came& went in about an hour!
Cathy - you are making progress -yea! sounds like the light is at then of that tunnel!
Libby - the camping sounds like fun -it is always good to get away -is it tent camping or cabin camping? We tent camped once -and that was enough -but then we bought a pop-up having never pulled anything or camped other than that one time - we had fun for several years until soccer & DS's age got in the way -the last year we only used it 2x so decided to sell it -also it was either move up to a bigger unit or quit -so we quit!
Dutch - glad you are finally on the road to recovery - and nice that vet talked you up. slow and steady!
Amy-hope you get some barn time - is the schooling show this week? have fun
Finally got out to wash my blankets this morning - i take them to one laundromat the woman knows me & that my blankets are not covered w/ hair - they all (2 med wt, 1 heavy wt & 1 sheet) fit in one large washer -then I hang them on the fence at home -spray w/waterproofing spray (walmart -camping section -BIG can for $4.95 - one can does 2+ blankets!) and now they are packed away for the season! Did a quick ride =then DH walked a newish trail that needed some small trees cut down to make it from the main trail to the path without bushwhacking!
Eye dr apt tomorrow morning then hoping to get TUndra over to the agility woman again -
Waving to all - HAGD -keep cool- and of course -ride if you can -

Hi Again,
Faye-the appraiser toured the farm property a couple weeks ago but it has not been listed yet.
Barb- good work on the blankets. My schooling show is Wednesday evening.
Cathy- You are coming down the home stretch with the cabinet project, It will be so nice for you when completed.
Dutch- At what age will you put the saddle on?
Libby- How nice for DS that there is a great camp for him to enjoy. I hope you enjoy your camping too. I loved going to summer camp as a kid, both sleep away and day camp. Just lots of kids to play with and a lot to do outside.
Beth- Your DH surgery day is soon. I hope his recovery goes well. Is he a good patient? My DH pushes himself too much and doesn't always comply with doctors recommendations.
My tough workout is a group class at the gym. Some cardio, some hand weights, squats, lots of plank work, etc. I have done it 4 times now and I am already feeling a little stronger. Good workout.
My day got away from me. Lukas had a weepy eye so I had to take care of that, should be better pretty quick. Had to run out to tractor supply and get him a new fly mask without ear covers ( he has a "thing" about is ears). I tried it on him and he seemed happier with that one. Of course the one I already owned had ear covers and that won't do, lol he was trying to take it off and I thought that was going to lead to more harm. He hasn't been wearing a fly mask prior to this but I am going to turn him out in one now. Hopefully he keeps is on.
Have to try and get some stuff done.
HAGD Amy

Good afternoon. I just got a call from an old customer I haven't heard from in 5-6 years. He ordered 3 dz caps and I have until the end of July to get them done. I need to order them as he wants a medium gray color with black writing and a black bull on it. I will probably start on them after this Friday when DH has his surgery.
It was so pleasant this morning walking. It was 61 and low humidity. After last weeks heat and humidity, today was a blessing.

Hi Horse Friends,
Tracking-yes, hopefully this is the start of a "run". I was thinking of doing another tough class at the gym today but since I have the schooling show tomorrow I have decided just to take a walk. I don't want to be overly stiff and sore tomorrow.
My winter trainer and his wife's going away party is tonight. We are ordering off the menu at the place so it will be easy to control what I eat. I am going to skip the beer I would usually get and have unsweetened tea. (let's see if I stick to that).
Beth- we have much nicer weather here too! Good walking weather. The hats you are making sound like a cool design.
Hi to all.

I have my 3 dgd's today. I made the mistake of drinking an iced double latte at 6:00 yesterday evening, was doing laundry at 9:30 and finally fell asleep at 2:30 a.m. - never again! I am so groggy and grouchy! Girls are hungry, I said OK let me finish my coffee and now I'm hiding in the office lol We are going to Target shopping today, then to the barrel series at the saddle club. I'm not bringing the horse much to my dgd's unhappiness! There were over 60 horses there last week and it was kinda of crazy, a young gal fell off and broke her leg. I just want her to be safe and for a very beginner I don't think it's going to be appropriate, I would have my 3 yo granddaughter and my son in a w/c with me. We'll do it next time when it's just me and her and I can ride with her. Barb; we have a 26'camper with generator, bathroom, shower, the works! It's the only way I'll "camp" now Faye; your workout area sounds nice Wave to all! I'd better go feed the girls HAGD/R

Hi, all...tracking yes, but over a bit yesterday Faye, we working on My Cape Breton Home, one of the songs we had at camp. I've also been trying to sort out this song I heard on Pandora, so we talked about that one for a bit. Good luck with haircut...I need to get one but I have to find someone first Libby, oooh...you'll be tired tonight, if you stay away from those latte's! Yikes, a broken leg...the place sounds like a zoo...smart to keep it simple with DGDs in tow. Amy, sounds like a real good workout...it's amazing how quickly we can get strong if we stick with things (me and my mt biking come to mind). We used to camp every summer as a family. The only vacations we had. Loved it! Enjoy the party. I used to do schooling shows after work, low key and good experience! Barb, neat on the blankets done (and you too, Libby). Eye appointment, Tundra, and don't you have that colonoscopy prep? Do you leave the house while you do that? I sure couldn't. Beth, yay on repeat customers! Glad the weather has cooled a bit and the morning walks are comfortable. Hi to Dutch! I got my question answered (there was something about an add'l materials charge and wondered if that was my cost. Apparently, it's the insurance agencies cost...I will keep that email. Hopefully I'll get on their schedule by the end of this week. Didn't got for a walk, too hot (that's why I went over in calories...if I don't exercise, I can over really easy). But will swim today. Cathy

CATHY-I'll have to look at My Cape Breton HOme on youtube. don't know that one. hope you get to swim. glad you got our answer. LIBBY-glad weather is better. better safe than sorry. Breaking something anytime is no fun, but the summer is particularly bad. hope you sleep tonight. I did something similar yesterday. but only takes 1/2 a coffee to keep me up. BARB-hope the eye appt was just a reg. checkup. I think your prep is either tonight or tomorrow. good luck with it. BETH-how were the veggies you brought in? any more you gathered to eat? Have you found a groomer for coco? AMY-have fun at the schooling show tomorrow. DUTCH-hope all is well
hair came out fine. she's great at understanding what I mean. She thought I wanted to tuck it behind my ears last time and when I said no she just did a few adjustments while my hair was dry (a popular way to cut curly hair) and it was back to normal. the color I love so feeling better.
HAGD. Waving to all.

Hi- yes - eye apt was routine -Faye - you will understand this (probably more that I did!) but my distance eye (I wear multi focal for astigmatism) has gotten better but to counter that with the near would mess up my reading so we are playing w/ strengths and trying yet another (and expensive) lens -the problem is I can usually find them on line for $10-15 a box less -but always feel bad about that -may take 6 mos from him then order the others at the lesser price. And yes -tomorrow is prep (my jello is jelling) and Thursday is the day -needless to say - not looking forward to that!
Libby -camper sounds nice -yes -that is the way to "camp". Have fun -and you are being wise about the horses.
Oops -rain just started again -we have had heavy rains every afternoon the past 3 days -but I digress!
Amy - good luck -have fun.

Hi all,
tracking yes but went over. I did have the plain iced tea and ordered a spinach salad off the menu last night, no bacon dressing, but then someone handed me a piece of the cake and I ate it. Buttercream icing is my kryptonite! I am going to have a protein drink for breakfast (2 pts) to try and compensate.
I am excited about how relaxed I am about the schooling show. I hope I stay that way. My friend is super nervous so I feel like I don't have a "right" to be nervous. If that makes sense. Her horse has not been off the farm in the two years she has had him and she has zero idea how he will be. If he is too excited then the trainer will show him to give the horse experience.
Libby- DGD will still learn things just by being at the show and you are right that you need to be able to focus just on her if she is riding. There will be a lot more shows.
Barb, I hope you get the contacts worked out, it can be tricky. I have one eye corrected for distance and one eye corrected for reading and somehow my bran just works it out. That way I don't need to wear readers in most situations. I wear contacts very well so I never did the surgery. My DH had surgery 2 times about 12 years between them. Now he wears glasses.
Faye- I am glad you have a stylist that you love. I have been going to the same guy for over 20 years and lately I have been wanting to try someone new. I don't have the guts to do it though. It feels awkward because I think once I leave it would be hard to go back to him if I wanted to go back. He does a good job so it's hard to have a reason other then wanting a change.
Cathy- If they come out and finish the garage and you get the insurance sorted out that would be amazing! You have really gotten a lot out of the camp experience. Seems like it has really fired you up to do more.
Beth- Hope all is going well for you and DH as surgery approaches.
Hi to Dutch!
No lesson today due to the schooling show (that is my lesson)

AMY-it's called monovision and glad you like it. some people can't get used to it. Funny about hairdressers, about a year ago i needed a change and did go somewhere else. then didn't like it and eventually went back. but she was great about it. But she's pretty special. when i fell off the horse and came home she came to the house and did my hair. she said if I wanted her to do the color she'd even bring that but by then I could get to her. Glad I went back to her. Good luck at the show BARB-good luck with the prep. BETH-good luck for DH's surgery Fri. and nice to have a client come back and place such a big order. LIBBY-how's the show?

Faye glad you like your haircut! It's so important to find someone you like! I had my bangs messed up by someone I went to as my dd was so busy and it has taken quite awhile to get them back! All this talk about glasses makes me want to go get a new pair! I was blessed to have 20/20 vision until about 45 yo, used readers for years (had them scattered all over the house lol) by the time I was 55 I was wearing progressive lenses, my far vision is still pretty good, so progressives were hard to get used to. I love my computer/reading glasses, as long as I don't forget I have them on and try to walk around lol Barb; the guy who drove to Oregon w/dh yesterday is having his colonoscopy Friday also We were teasing him about going to dinner on Thursday night lol Glad your taking care of yourself!! Amy; glad your not nervous about the show and can help your friend. You never know how horses are going to act when taken off the property. Hope the sanding and painting goes easily! and yes, dgd's loved watching the barrel racing last night (well 3 yo not as much, got bored pretty quick) saw one horse trip on to a knee as they were rounding a barrel and the gal fell off pretty hard. She ended up limping off the and the crowd clapping. We bought candy and root beer floats at the concession stand mostly to keep 3 yo engaged lol Cathy; did they schedule the garage work? I'm so happy I found just the perfect flooring It's rustic expresso oak from home depot. They are supposed to call soon to make the install appointment. Beth; Friday is a big day for surgeries, my db is getting a total shoulder replacement, trust your dh is getting prepped for his knee. Dutch; when are you going to try the saddle on Ally? I think horses that are used to being blanketed do better with first saddles-hope this is the case for ally! Going to the park w/friend that has a dgs on Wednesdays, the same age as my 3 yo dgd. The park is close and has a water feature, should be fun HAGD everyone!

Hi, all...still tracking. Faye, wow...I couldn't get my stylist of 20 years, who I also thought was a friend, come cut my hair when I broke my ankle. We broke off our professional association after that, and apparently our friendship. She always used to complain about other "friends" who stopped going to her would never call her. Now I know it's a load of...well, icky stuff because I've tried calling her and she never responds. Barb...wait...jello? You get JELLO? When did they start doing that? I'm asking because I will be due next winter and seriously don't want to down a gallon of the awful "juice". Hope you get things done even with the rain. Beth, that's right...dh's sx is this Friday! Hope all goes well...assuming it's out patient and he gets to come home when done? Amy, you'll be fine...the schooling show is going to feel like a piece of cake (and you CAN have that too!) next to the larger shows. Have fun! Glad the stairway is still moving forward. You'll have to post a pic when done. (I like the idea of painting the stair fronts to give it that traditional look.) Libby, I have the same eyes as you, good for a long time, then finally switched to progressives. It took a while but I do like them (except for this year's pair). I sometimes use cheap readers for the computer if I'm doing a lot of reading. Progressives aren't good for that at all. Have fun at the park! Hi to Dutch! Got in a swim yesterday. Most of the regulars are gone, must be post-school vacations (I think one woman was going to UK to visit dad). So pretty quiet, but kind of warm water. Cooler in summer is OK Got my fasting lipid blood draw this morning. Will be interesting to see if my work on lowering has had any impact at all...probably not Will walk today. Cathy

CATHY-glad it's quieter at the pool. hope the bld test shows good results. My hairdresser is just a lovely person. she even said when she was on vacation she felt she should email me to see if I needed her to come again to the house. I only had her come once. but she washed it in the kitchen sink and cut it in the dining room. I paid her for the cut and gave her more than a usual tip for coming. She's pretty local but I think it was above and beyond. she even had my harp business cards out for a while. I played for her salon when she opened a new one as a present. It's nice when you have nice people around. Jello is all you can eat before a colonoscopy and not red as far as I know. We'll see what Barb says. had a good harp lesson, worked on a piece I'll be taking a lesson on with Sunita (in her book). LIBBY-congrats on finding the flooring. hope the person that fell is ok. have fun at the park. BARB-were you able to give the other fly masks to anyone? AMY-glad the stairs turned out well. good luck at the show. hope your friend and her horse have fun. DUTCH-hope all is well and you are feeling better. BETH-how long does DH have to stay off the leg? will he be able to get around? is it outpatient?
tracked yesterday but way over. Tracking today and bought better things for the house, there's a Trader Joe's near my harp lesson. waving to all. HAGD

Hi all - Cathy - the jello is in addition to drinking all the other nasty stuff - that starts in about 1 hour -so far it's just been the jello & ice tea -maybe I'll lose some weight! LOL Yes no red stuff -but interestingly enough some practices (not mine) allow you eggs the morning before up until noon -
Faye- yes - contact lens -and yes -it's always a balance between the distance & reading - i have been wearing contacts since I was 16 (started with the old hard lenses -went to gas permeable -now soft but there always is something new ) So far the distance is good -the reading not so much on this new script -we will see -I will keep the other fly mask(s) (cause you know i have more than one! - this is just for riding -) I also have turn out masks and another old face only riding one!
Amy -you've been busy - are you still doing time in the office?
Libby - have fun at the park -we still can't get Tundra to swim past where she can stand -funny since she has webbed paws!
Beth - hope DH's surgery goes well -
Dutch - finally you are better -yea!
Off to do some paperwork then start the dreaded drinking -TTFN

Good Morning- The prep wasn't as bad as I had anticipated -drinking 64 oz of gatorade w/ stuff in it -just a lot to drink in a short time -the worst was the magnesium citrate at 11pm! yuk -Slept well -considering! And considering I haven't eaten anything since Tuesday night -(jello doesn't count!) I'm not starving -but needless to say I will happy to have lunch -procedure is at 11 -the good news is I have lost 3+ lbs - I know it's just water weight -but it makes me feel better -maybe a jump start!
I saw some Blues on Amy's photo from last nights show -WOO HOO - Congrats!
Beth- does DH need to do anything for prep for his surgery tomorrow? Same day or is he in hospital for a few days?

Hi Horse Friends, tracking yes, I had a good home WI this morning hope I can keep that going for official WI tomorrow. The schooling show was fun and much more relaxed then rated shows. Lukas was not as relaxed yesterday because the pony mare went into heat. LOL. We had 2 good jump rounds and got first in both. The flat was a bit of a mess. Good practice though. My friends horse did great! No problem loading and they went around in Pleasure Horse walk, trot and Pleasure Horse walk, trot, canter and were in the ribbons! I was so happy for her because on the drive back to the barn she was just beaming she said she did not think she would get any ribbons. She was even considering the cross rail class for next time. Faye- yes, I like the mono-vision. I started wearing glasses in first grade and I really hate them. I think it is the lack of peripheral vision and my lenses are pretty thick so I get the distortion around the edges that makes me sea sick. Lucky for me I wear contacts really well, never have problems with them. Have you been spending time in your yard at all? We are getting some real pretty days here. Cathy- the swim sounds nice. What have you been doing to lower your numbers. I have been taking fish oil when I remember. Good luck with your numbers. Barb- Good Luck with the colonoscopy, hope it is free and clear. I so not have regular hours at the office right now. It is so nice to be able to get some projects done around the house and even keeping up with regular cleaning and laundry is easier. I am busy but happy. I do help out in the office when needed. I do things like picking up a special lunch for everyone one day and getting supplies at Sam's club and putting them away. I also fill in if someone is sick or needs a day off for some reason. I am so much happier being supportive but not in the office every day. Tundra won't go deeper in the water yet but I bet she will if you keep working on it. Do you go in the water with her? G Libby- there were some very young girls at the show last night and they enjoyed seeing the horses for about 5 min. then they played "kitchen" in the grass with some plastic cookware and plates their Dad brought along. Grass, dirt and clover was on the menu! LOL the Show had two rings, one for western classes which I did not have time to watch but I love looking at their tack and turnout walking around the grounds. More then one western rider expressed interest in my friends palomino. He has a beautiful color and markings, my friend told everyone, NOT for sale. He looks like a "Barbie dream horse". Hi to Dutch! Hope all is going well. HAGD Amy
