Barb; our Lab, Dakota hates water-she doesn't even like to go in wet grass lol some black lab she is lol I hope Tundra gets ok with the water. Since Dakota is my dh's service dog, she can be a working princess! Trust your procedure goes well today! I get to do that every 5 years as ddad had colon CA. They usually find a polyp and cut it out. Last time I found that the prep wasn't as bad as it used to be years ago - glad yours wasn't so bad Amy: funny how people are so drawn to palomino's they are beautiful horses! Glad you are working less and did well at the show congrats! Faye; the girl is fine that fell off I could tell that dgd was not happy about not riding. She is almost a teenager and already acting like one. I haven't been able to get her to practice barrels very much - and yet she thinks she can do it no problem lol She is an only child and is used to getting her way-my dd understands it wasn't safe for her to ride. I bought some better things for the house to eat also haven't tracked with everything being about the kids lately! Beth; how are you doing? are you still watching the bird cam? Cathy; if do you a lot of computer work I highly recommend the computer/reader prescription progressives, they are awesome! We ended up going to the beach, which here means Puget Sound, they kids had fun turning over rocks and finding small crabs (really rocky beach) they kept getting squirted by gooey ducks, they were fine with it until I showed them a picture of a gooey duck on my phone, then the 3 yo made me carry her and the 8 yr was weirded out! lol We went to a local seafood place for late dinner or early supper and then went home and had a campfire and s'mores. Today we will ride. how nice to get the pool to yourself!! Dutch; trust your feeling a lot better by now and ds also HAGD everyone!

BARB-hope all goes well with the test. glad the prep wasn't too bad. AMY-so glad you and your friend had a good time and did so well. Haven't been in the yard. my knee is bothering me and I think from previous weeding so just called the neighbor's son who I can hire to do it. doensn't need much but may just need to water later. BETH-good luck to DH tomorrow. and good luck with your order to get out.
Tracking-yes
got new sunglasses and distance glasses and putting new lenses in my old Near frames to save a little $. they were relatively new but the Rx changed.

Hi, all! Faye, so is the lesson with Sunita at the conference? I did like her song, bought one when I was there but of course, at the time couldn't play them because I didn't tune in Eb. I guess I need to go look at those again! Hope you have fun...next week or in 2 weeks? Barb, funny about Tundra and swimming...as Amy suggested, maybe take her somewhere that you can go in with her? Interesting about the jello...that wasn't allowed 10 years ago, but that drink stuff...sounds like it hasn't changed. I think I lost 5lb but you feel really wonderful after...good luck!! Amy, so glad you had a good time last night, and did so well. Schooling shows are fun for that reason, low key and hopefully more fun! Those Western riders love their palominos. I like watching them ride as well...so different than the style we ride in. Libby, I want to see what type of floor you got...I'm assuming hardwood...wish I could have afforded that but I do like the laminate I have, kind of looks like hand-shaved hardwood Hi to Beth and Dutch! Waiting on the contractor to come by to look at what materials he needs...I'm sort of surprised because it has supposedly already been measured so not sure what this is really about. The insurance agent called to make sure that things were moving forward and that she will be OOO next week. Trying to make points this late in the game is just annoying...where were you when I needed you??!?! Will swim this afternoon...the mornings have been cooler so the days stay pleasant. Cathy

Good afternoon. DH is more than ready to get the surgery done. We have to be at the outpatient surgical center by 11 am tomorrow. Surgery should be about 12ish. One of DH's bus trainees is bringing supper to the house after we get home. It's something she just wanted to do. DH starts on Monday the 3rd. He is having his LT knee scoped and repaired. DR said he should be fine to drive the bus when school start on August 8th.
The last 3 mornings have been wonderful for walking. Cool and crisp. This morning however it was 74 and very humid. I did get to walk before it started raining and it's been raining off and on all day. The caps I ordered came in today. I'll get started on the order sometime next week.
I was able to spray the garden for bugs on Tuesday. I'm starting to really get the pole beans and the tomato plants now have some small green tomatoes on them. I also have some small pepper plants but not big enough to pick yet. They are slow growers. I have picked 4 cucumbers about 4-5 inches in length. I ended up replanting the squash as they did seem to do very well. Maybe these newer plants will do better. They seem to be growing well.
I'm still watching the 2 bird cams. DH loves to watch the Montana cam as it has all the trains go by multiple times a day.

CATHY-Somerset is end of July. I have a private lesson with SUnita Thursday before the workshops start (they start Thurs. afternoon.) Since I play at Temples I like to take a lesson with her every year. She put out a Chanukah book so want to go over some tunes in it. Sorry you couldn't swim but glad the drywall is getting done and you should be done with this soon. Gee what a drawn out affair. hope it goes well. BETH-so glad DH will be ready for driving when school starts. east coast starts around Labor day. always an uproar if it starts before Labor day. sounds like the garden is doing well. Glad you got the caps. NIce of someone wanting to bring dinner. Good luck

Hi all Just drowning in work, but the mortgage is paid I guess. Yes, DS and I are feeling better, thank you for your well wishes!
No, haven't heard about the interview- I'm just moving on.
Played with Ally a few days- mostly trailering. In.. out.. in.. out lol She doesn't even stop anymore she's just that bored with it. Perfect! Now to lock her in... then move the divider against her, and back out. It's a slant 3-horse, so it's huge for her. But there's always that 1 time she'll have to do something different, and I'm just being uber careful/ thorough.
Yes, I could put the saddle on now (well- once the saddle pad I ordered gets here). Yes, she wears a blanket, so I don't expect too much issue. Yes, tons of fun coming there soon. Not even sure the cinch is short enough.. so adjustment coming.
Going camping this weekend (in camper) at the beach. Packing the kid up now to go to grandparents and we'll meet them down there on Saturday.
Have a great 4th weekend!!! Stay safe and have tons of fun!!

BARB-glad it went well. DUTCH-sorry so much work. enjoy camping!! BETH-good luck to DH today. hope it all goes well. AMY-any plans to do more on the stairs this weekend? sounds like not too much left to do. When is DDs dance test? LIBBY-are DGDs staying for the holiday weekend? CATHY-how's the drywall? is it up and, well, drying? is it just painting after that and then you'll be done? Can't believe Somerset is in a few weeks.
going to tea with my riding buddy. she still occasionally rides but the trainer moved further away to a big show barn. yoga this afternoon.
Have a great holiday weekend. Just got invited to the neighbor for dinner so that will be fun and tomorrow is the ballet and dinner with DD.

Faye; will be dropping the dgd's off in Vancouver on our way to Mt. Hood on Sunday morning. DH and I will have some time to ourselves up on the mountain camping in our camper. Bought a new lighter weight generator for the trip Good friends also bring their adult child to camp, so we will have breakfast and a happy hour with them at our fav places on the mountain. They are staying at a bed and breakfast in Sandy, about 1/2 hr. from the kids camp. We will be 10 miles east of the camp at a beautiful lake. I'm getting excited! Barb; glad your procedure went well! Dutch; good job on the trailering practice, have fun at the beach! Cathy; so awesome that the work is getting done, sorry about the swimming. The flooring is pergo-so it's laminate I think. Sounds a lot like your floor! Beth; glad dh was able to time this surgery well for work. He must be out by now, give us an update Amy; when is your next show? I'd better get moving, the 3 yr old is getting into the desk drawer next to me and asking 20 questions lol

Hi, all! Faye, nice to have something to work on with Sunita. Have a fun tea! Sounds like you have a busy holiday weekend! Beth, glad you got out for your walks but bummer on the weather change. I guess it happens Hope DH is doing well, it does seem as if you need 2 good knees for driving buses! Barb, congrats on the completed procedure...I do love that Versed Dutch, glad everyone is healthy now. Great that you're having Ally time, helps with the work overload Have fun at the beach this weekend! Libby, sounds like you'll need the downtime with DH this weekend...very nice and relaxing. I learned how to make gin and tonics at music camp...really refreshing for warm, summer weather Hi to Amy! Yup, dry wall all done, doesn't need painting since it's in the garage. He was here from 9:30 am to 3:45pm, and had to make a trip for more dry wall. It's done...only took 5.5 months AAA is still getting the nasty letter though. Today I have to go over the hill for my financial meeting. I really hate these (kind of up there with GYN appts for me) but she insists I do it every year. I've put it off until I couldn't put it off anymore. I have my professional system exam next week, so spending free time reviewing stuff I haven't done for over 3 years. Lots of fun, that. We don't have Monday off and I decided not to take it off, there won't be much going on anyway so maybe I can get in a nice swim. Hiking on Tuesday with Meet Up group. Cathy

Hi all - Finally feeling like myself again -my throat was very dry & scratchy yesterday -guess from the meds? Took Tundra for a bath early this morning then we did a quick ride -very muggy & the black flies are starting to come out. We were coming off on trail onto the main trail - Skip was in lead -and there was a truck there -1-no motorized vehicles are supposed to be on the trail -it's conservation land & 2 needless to say -they have NEVER seen a truck before ( ) -so Skip kind of spooked/bolted /spun around -Penny thought that sounded good & spun -we were both on kind of loose reins as we were walking -but managed to get them both under control before they took off -Skip was on "alert" the rest of the ride - Penny not so much (that's the appys for you -always spooky!)
Cathy -YEA! the work is getting done~ sorry about the meetings but guess they are necessary evils!
Beth- hope DH comes thru surgery ok -
Libby -your trip sounds wonderful-have fun
Faye - is this conference the same one you go to every year? Where is it? When?
Dutch -nice job on the trailer training -are you feeding her in it? I know some people do that to get them to like walking in -the big thing here is a woman who (for $200) will teach you to teach your horse to self -load. The sad thing is that Penny would self load pretty much -but since last year's incident I have not put her back on a trailer -to be honest too scared for her and the trailer! One day - maybe!
Amy -too bad about the mare in heat -but sounds like you still did good as did your friend -woo hoo
DH off golfing -so i have some "me"time -gonna work in basement a bit -then sit & relax -no big plans for the holiday -pool party on Monday at a friend's pool- otherwise we will play it by ear
HAGD -

BARB-glad throat feels better. Yes, same conference (technically called a Festival). been going for over 10 yrs every year. new hotel but still only about 20 min from me. was a bit closer before . they fly in from all over. probably about 200-300 people i'd guess. Workshops, concerts every night and at lunch and big vendor hall. glad the truck wasn't too big an issue. CATHY-glad you are done with it before next winter! what an event. LIBBY-enjoy Mt. Hood. I'm not the camping type but sounds pretty. BETH-hope all went well AMY- any other shows? congrats again on the ribbons DUTCH-glad you are all feeling better. and Good job with Ally and the trailer
nice lunch with my friend. Yoga later. HAGD--tracking. only had half a scone and we share the one set of little tea sandwiches. Dinner is made and tracked so should be ok.

Hi to all, Tracking yes, down .4 at official WI. Still not "new" weight but I am getting closer. I have decided to lower my stirrups for flat work and then shorten them for jumping. Not a new idea in the horse world but new for me. I actually put them down 2 holes for my practice ride today and it was almost as much work as no stirrups. That should help me develop the right muscles because I can maintain a posting trot for a longer period of time. I don't have another rated show until August but we all had so much fun at the schooling show we might do it again in July. The venue is really close to the farm. Did more work on the steps yesterday, more sanding. I need to so a second coat of paint on the risers and then I hope to stain the treads on Tuesday. Once I am done we can go order the carpet runner, although we should probably check for sales considering Independence Day. Looking forward to getting this done. Barb- glad it all went well today. Beth- the fresh veggies sound great! I never did buy the tomato plant, maybe next year. Cathy- YES! it is done Libby- have fun camping and I hope DS has a blast at camp too. Dutch- have fun at the beach. I love how carefully you are training Ally. I wish someone would have gotten my guy used to clippers. He is 13 so I guess I could try doing it but it seems late in the game. He just stands there for fly spray now, which he hated the first time. I think clippers would be a long process. Faye- I am sorry your knee hurts, I just meant getting outside to sit and listen to birds or read. Now we are back to heat and humidity here. Summer storm right now. I am going to go watch some TV. I like the Father Brown Mystery series. Netflix has 5 seasons. HAGN Amy

Good afternoon. We're home. DH's surgery didn't start until after 1pm. We got home almost 4pm but that was because we stopped at the drug store to get his pain med. He is walking on that leg but was told to mostly keep it elevated and use an ice pack on it which he is doing right now. He can take the dressing off Sunday and put bandaids on the 2 little incisions. He starts PT on Monday.

BETH-so glad it went well. Have a good weekend and hope he doesn't have much pain AMY-I don't sit out much. I have Adirondack chairs and sometimes sit there but it means opening an umbrella and I don't have reading sunglasses so basically I just walk to the plants and say hi (yes, i give them little pep talks) when I get the paper or the mail. Or when I get in and out of the car I like to walk around a bit and just look at the trees. I stay out more it my butterfly bush is blooming because I hope for butterflies. no flowers yet on that or the milk weed for them. Mostly I like to look at the outdoors; unless DD is home we don't even take out the BBQ. Half the time the outdoor table stays in the shed all summer. (But riding on the beach or riding thru a trail was a thrill. ) Congrats on the WL!!!! I tracked but still a bit over. waving to all. HAGE

Hi
Tracking yes, ate ice cream last night but tracked it to today so I can make up for it. Heading to the barn early to try and beat the heat.
Beth , so glad DH surgery went well! P.T. on Monday is pretty fast.
Faye- I love to sit outside but I don't like to bake in the sun. Lucky for me the patio is shaded in the morning and the evening. I will sometimes eat breakfast and read the paper outside but only if I have some time because I tend to linger. Not an every day thing.
Going to eat a banana in the car on the way to the barn. I will save some for Lukas, he loves Bananas.

Hi horse lovers, Busy day today getting ready to leave for the week. Probably won't have any service up on the Mt. yet you never know! Taking the kids to the movies this morning-I must by crazy! Showed neighbors how to feed the horses last night. They are not horse people, so I'm just having them feed, there is going to be a big mess when I get back! Heidi went back and forth on me about caring for them while I am gone.... 2 months ago, no problem, 3 weeks ago, oh, I'm going to be gone then, next day, don't worry we aren't going after all, I'll feed. Two days ago, oh we decided to go! Didn't give me time to teach neighbors anything. It's my own fault-oh well, as long as they have food and water they'll be good! The neighbor is about 35 and had a horse when she was a kid. She said, "I haven't put a halter on a horse since I was a kid" - she wants to come over when I get back and ride Lucy and said we can trade me watching her dogs when she is gone and she'll watch the horses, so it's looking good for some help that is closeby! Barb; glad your procedure went well and yes, when there is something new on the trail, it can upset a horse, glad Penny was good. Cathy; awesome that your project is done! Have fun hiking-sorry you have to go over the hill! Amy; I used to eat carrots that I saved for the horses lol Faye; My house gets so hot that I have to sit outside in the shade. It's nice until a little after dusk when the mosquito's come out Dutch; have fun at the ocean Beth; glad dh is doing well Have a wonderful week and holiday everyone! We are leaving early in the morning

HI all - Libby - isn't there a neighbor kid who could pick up for you? too bad about Heidi -well - anyway - have a fantastic time!
Faye - I don't really sit out much any more either -when we do go to the beach it's hat & umbrella just about all the time! I do sunscreen when I'm at the barn -I never used to but since i had the melanoma about 7 years ago -I'm a bit more careful! We have a big umbrella on the deck which we sit under in the late afternoon for drinks!
Amy - the stirrup length can be challenging- for trail riding I ride somewhere between my dressage length and my h/j length- especially good for longer rides! Nice that you are thinking of the next schooling show -good practice no stress!
Beth - glad DH came thru it well - wow- he was up and about fast!
We rode early this morning -on by 8:45 - but boy was it hot & muggy - we are thinking skipping tomorrow just too darn hot -
Waving to Cathy & Dutch - hope you are keeping cool!
Making lobsta rolls tonight for dinner -then we are continuing our House of Cards binge -we are 1/2 through season 2~

Hi, all! Faye, I can't wait to get some space in the "backyard". I need to save to put in a patio and some plants, right now just weeds and dirt. Barb, glad you're feeling good after you procedure. Wow...sounds like Penny was a trooper, those spin-and-runs can be brutal. Sounds like she calmed down, which is REALLY nice! I'm binging on "Younger" Libby, have fun!! Weird about Heidi, but great if you can share "pet sitting" with the neighbor. If she came over and rode, got to know the horses, even better. Amy, sounds like the stairs are really coming along! Lots of work but you'll be so happy to have it done (I think it's like women who have babies, right? You forget the pain and just jump right into again ). My horse did not like clippers either; we would tranq her to get it done, tried the nose twitch too but really felt cruel using it...kind of sad. Beth, glad all went well for DH. Yeah, PT on Monday DOES sound quick but I guess if he has no pain, might as well get going! I didn't do well yesterday food-wise, but did track even though I knew it would be bad...it was. Today is a new day, got to the market for more fruit, which I use for dessert instead of fattening, rich stuff. The lipid test came back, it's about the same as last year, just up a couple of points. Quite a bit lower than the test I had done at another lab in March, so don't know if those results were just weird or if I've managed to drop about 30 points on the cholesterol. I'll take it anyway! Dr had knee sx as well, so I won't get to check in with her until end of July. Got cleaning done, trying to talk myself into working on the cabinets (knobs and sliding tray), but not feeling it. Will try again tomorrow. Might swim tomorrow morning since I only got in one swim yesterday. Cat is paging me...at least she's feeling better! Cathy

Good morning CATHY-did you work on the cabinets. When we moved here it was a mess in the backyard. took years to get it looking pretty. Congrats on the cholesterol BARB-did you ride? i'm very fair and so don't tan just burn and I start to feel hot with sun on me. It's mostly I don't have sunglass reading glasses; but youladies gave me an Idea. I just ordered new glassed and he has a nice thing to put over glasses so I may get that so I can read outside. It is pretty and I love my backyard, it's like a little park. I laugh when I see a chipmunk dart across the patio. I don't like to eat outside though but I would take some iced tea and read. LIBBY-enjoy the trip. Pity Heidi was back and forth but now you seem to have a backup horse sitter so hope it goes well. AMY-good work on tracking. You've given me thought about the backyard. I do like it. it's been very humid here so that could be it. in the past when I get the mail or water the plants I do sit a bit on the adirondack chairs that I love. I do need to get sunglasses for my near glasses then I would read outside. Thanks. Ballet was odd. beautiful but dancing was nothing special. Misty copeland was fine. first time seeing her. I saw Baryshnakov (sp?) in his prime and once you see that, it's just hard to thing anyone else is spectacular. he was AMAZING. ALso so natalia Makarova (Sp?) --I used to say she weighed 3 lbs and 2 lbs were eyelashes (we sat close to stage LOL)- she was something too. but it was fun and dinner was nice. and had a great day. Even saw a rainbow on the way home. errands today. Oh, and got another gig for July so now 1 in July and 2 in August. and it was the senior community in town but their Dementia section, so new area in same community which is nice as the other contact referred me. waving to all. HI all - quick stop by - didn't ride this morning -it was "spa" day for Penny - trimmed her bridle path, washed her white socks (which will be dirty by tomorrow) did her tick spot stuff -it was still muggy -but it's supposed to break for tomorrow & the rest of the week - having friends over in a bit for "beer can chicken" .
Faye -nice about the gigs! Wow -Misty Copeland - jealous - she is amazing - I also saw Baryshnikov many years ago -(mayb 35?) front row center - dancing Tyla Tharp -what a show! Your yard sounds nice -enjoy it
Libby -safe travels - Waving to Cathy, Beth, Amy & Dutch - off to drunken up my chicken -

Hi All,
Tracking yes
going to walk later on this evening. When I sit outside it is always in the shade. I like listening to our little waterfall feature I just find it so relaxing to have a drink and read. I like my potted flowers too.
Lukas is being is usual good boy self. Such fun to jump. The flies have gotten bad lately but not in the outdoor ring, just when you try to ride around the fields and trees.
Faye- the more gigs the better! I have never seen a big professional ballet, maybe some day.
Cathy- sounds like you got some good test numbers so that is good. The cabinet will get done when the spirit moves you and that will make it easier too. I took a break from the steps but will finish my part this week for sure. There is always something to do so sometimes I walk around and just see what I am in the mood to do, as long as something I getting done it is good.
Libby- I do not like that lack of commitment when it comes to caring for animals and covering for a friend. Sounds like the neighbor could be a great new friend and you can help each other out too.
Barb- It is good to ride early if you can. I go to the barn and Lukas is already slightly sweaty when it is super humid. The post ride shower feels good for both of us. (I spray my face).
Taking it easy today. I think I will go watch a Father Brown Mystery.
Hi to Beth and Dutch!

Hi, all!
Faye, I'd love to have a backyard...gotta get those sunglasses so you can read outside. I used to eat simple things outside at my house in SJ. Just loved to sit back there. Glad you had a nice day even tho' ballet wasn't your "cup of tea". Congrats on the additional gig! So in awe of you! Barb, you always have interesting dinners planned. Lobsta rolls, beer can chicken...sounds like fun, yummy stuff! I'm going to try a new shrimp dish that Andrew Zimmern had on his FB page. Hi to everyone else, enjoying your Sunday!
I got the slider in under the sink, that was easy. Got 3 of the knobs on, but yeah, the drawers are a different skill set. I'll have to go over to the hardware store tomorrow to find a different drill bit. At least I'm making progress!
Got in a swim this morning, but it was overcast. The sun is finally coming out.

CATHY-good work on the slider and knobs, good luck with the rest. Yes, I will get sunglasses to go over my reading glasses so I can sit outside. Very good idea. AMY-good for you for tracking. I slipped today but will go back to it tomorrow. it was time to renew WW for 3 months and I did. We are watching MErlin when we exercise. never did the Father Brown mysteries. I'll have to look into that. who's in it? BARB-sorry no ride. enjoy dinner with your friends. Hope Penny enjoyed her Spa day LIBBY-have a great time at Mt. hood BETH-how is DH doing?? good luck to him at PT. did you start your caps order? DUTCH-hope all is well. what's next in ally's training?
had to get new telephones, lots of static on mine (landlines) so busy figuring them out. will wait a few days and if they are good will start to enter numbers into the directories. What a waste of time!
waving to all. HAGD
