Good morning
From last night:
CATHY-good work on the slider and knobs, good luck with the rest. Yes, I will get sunglasses to go over my reading glasses so I can sit outside. Very good idea.
AMY-good for you for tracking. I slipped today but will go back to it tomorrow. it was time to renew WW for 3 months and I did. We are watching MErlin when we exercise. never did the Father Brown mysteries. I'll have to look into that. who's in it?
BARB-sorry no ride. enjoy dinner with your friends. Hope Penny enjoyed her Spa day
LIBBY-have a great time at Mt. hood
BETH-how is DH doing?? good luck to him at PT. did you start your caps order?
DUTCH-hope all is well. what's next in ally's training?
had to get new telephones, lots of static on mine (landlines) so busy figuring them out. will wait a few days and if they are good will start to enter numbers into the directories. What a waste of time!
waving to all. HAGD

Hi All,
Tracked-yes
I forgot to walk yesterday! In the evening I decided it was nice and shady on the deck and set up a table for two with a tablecloth for dinner. Added in some music on my phone and DH and I ate and talked as if we were at an outdoor café. It was nice.
Going to my "tough" workout class today, then to ride, then paint the step risers again (hopefully last coat).

Good afternoon. Just got home after taking DH to PT. He did well and needs to return this Wednesday. This past weekend was rough on him though. He was walking but very stiff. Each day he gets a little better though. Faye- I haven't started the cap order yet. Maybe later on in the week. In the evening I decided it was nice and shady on the deck and set up a table for two with a tablecloth for dinner. Added in some music on my phone and DH and I ate and talked as if we were at an outdoor café. It was nice. This sounds so romantic. Good for you and DH.

Hi, all! Faye, hope the new phones work better! Waiting to hear back if there's a lesson today or not. Barb, hope you got in a ride today, since none yesterday. Amy, that does sounds lovely, having a nice dinner outside. Have a nice "tough" class! Beth, good to hear DH is doing well, but sorry he had a bad weekend. You have plenty of time for the caps, yes? End of July? Or August? Hi to Dutch and Libby! Quiet today at work as expected. So studying for my certification test on Thursday Will try to stop by hardware store today to pick up extra drill bit so that I can finish the cabinets tomorrow. Next is the mirror and the medicine cabinet. I have 2 bathroom faucets that I need to have put in, but I was hoping to find matching shower parts so I could have the plumber do everything at once. Then I have to decide if I want to do the downstairs bathroom, which is bigger Cathy

Good Morning & Happy 4th of July! We had a fun day yesterday at the pool party -this afternoon going to a BBQ -full holiday "week" end! It doesn't seem like a Tuesday and the rest of the week will be even more strange!
Rode yesterday -bugs were pretty intense -didn't ride today -I did go & groom & wash her white legs again -the crud that for years I couldn't get rid of has finally gone away -the new stuff "Equi-Derm" has done the trick! Over the years I tried many different things -nothing seemed to get it to go away & her white sox always looks gunky -now they are clear! so happy!
Beth - glad DH is starting to move a bit more -I'm guessing every day will become easier! Good luck on getting the caps going!
Amy - dinner sounded nice -sometimes you just have to "get away!"
Waving to Faye, Dutch, Cathy & Libby -have a safe holiday - enjoy fireworks if you see any -hope all our 4 leggeds (big and small) are ok with the noise!

Good Morning~ Faye - hope you enjoyed your dinner - we could watch the local fireworks from the deck of our friends house so we didn't have to fight the crowds! Enjoy your lesson & needles (!) Sorry about the rain -we are having some lovely coolish weather -but saying rain on Friday.
Hope everyone else enjoyed the day -not much action here so all must have enjoyed! Hope all the 4 leggeds were ok w/ the noise & lights from fireworks.
Heading off to the barn -ride then errands -working on some windchimes for my show in 2 weeks -Waving to all -HAGD -ride if you can TTFN

Hi all,
Tracking yes,
Have to get some point friendly ice cream, I have been craving ice cream lately.
Tried to ride out of the ring yesterday and the flies were so bad it didn't last long. I need to get to the barn super early if I want to ride out it would probably help.
Had a super fun lesson today we did a "bounce" exercise where the rails were made into a square and you would go over all the directions of the square on the same lead kind of like a cloverleaf pattern. So jumping direction would be jump across the ring turn left jump down the ring turn left jump across the ring (other direction) turn left jump up the ring. It is 2 jumps with no stride in between which is a bounce. The point is to be collected enough to do the tight turns and be straight to the jump and do not lose the canter to the trot. I probably thought it was fun because I totally rocked it on the first try on the left lead. The right lead took a couple tries but we got it. Then we went on to doing a regular course with a bigger stride but doing that exercise first really got us connected so it all went very well. Just one of those lessons where you come home with a really great feeling which is not always the case with riding as you all know.
Stair project is slowly moving along. Should be staining on Thursday or Friday then my part is done! YAY! Going to do some comparison shopping for the stair runner and installation today.

Hi, all! Faye, did the new phones work out OK? I did have a lesson Monday, worked more on hand position/fingering. I think this is her time to get this sorted out as it's a bit harder once she leaves and we go back to FaceTime. Barb, sounds like you had a "true" 4th! Pools and BBQs! I did go to the pool yesterday, but it was WAY busier than it had been last year. Amy, sounds like you had a fun lesson. I was never good at switching leads so glad you rocked the left lead Beth, how is DH doing? Did the caps get started over the weekend? Hi to Libby and Dutch! Since the cat is mostly deaf (might be why she meows louder?) she wasn't bothered at all by the noise. My neighbor with the dog did get tranqs for her since she is really sensitive to the noise. I'll find out how that worked sometime this week, I'm sure. Swam yesterday, it was very nice weather, sunny, warm, but not too hot. Watched a bit of fireworks from the front window but lost interest...they seemed kind of dull? Cabinets are done! Got those "special" holes drilled and put a coat of stain on the inside of the doors (totally forgot about that). There's a local business that has catalogs for fixtures so have to see if I can find faucets/shower fixtures to match the sink faucets I bought. Maybe this weekend. Oh, and I found those sweatpants...stuck in the back of a drawer Cathy

Hi All, so one of the odd things about PA is that most of the U.S. big and small fireworks are manufactured here but it illegal for PA residents to buy them. There are big stores selling them on the boarder because it is legal to sell them to out of state residents. They check car license plates and drivers licenses before making the sales. The only fireworks you can buy in PA legally do not propel themselves off the ground. So you can get some big color changing fountain type displays that are fun as well as ones that spin on the ground but nothing that shoots up in the air. Of course there were several illegal back yard displays in our neighborhood, happens every year. I think the police turn a blind eye unless there is a complaint. I am sure some dogs were scared I could hear some dogs barking but these things are not as big and loud as the professional displays and people don't want to spend too much so there isn't much. The fact that people keep it to once a year means even those that are annoyed pretty much let it go.
Cathy- glad you found the pants, it is funny how things turn up once you stop looking. Yay for getting the cabinet project completed!
Beth- glad no animals were bothered by the fireworks. If it is not the frozen footing in the winter it is the bad flies in the summer! Summer is still easier and more fun though. wind chimes sound nice! Have you made them before?
Faye- How often do you go to acupuncture! Do you have a regular appointment or is it just when you need it? Is it to help your knee or more overall health?
Beth- Glad DH is trending in the correct direction with his recovery. Does he have to do PT at home between appointments? Hope the cap order goes well.
Libby- hope you are enjoying camping. Sounds like you had a really great Independence Day celebration.

AMY-glad you had a good lesson. I liked bounces too but we just did them straight, bounce, then a stride to a jump, then another bounce. I go to acupunc. once a month for hot flashes. been going over 10 yrs now. I can tell when the month is up. If other issues come up, like the knee or hip when I fell he addresses that too. Basically, just to stay balanced and "cool". I use Enlightened ice cream bars. 2 or 3 pts I think depending on flavor. I like them. sorry about the flies, with the heat probably better to get out early anyway. BARB-happy windchimes. rain supposed to be tomorrow and maybe Friday. CATHY-good luck on certification tomorrow. glad the cabinets are done. Phones seem fine, can't figure some stuff out but I'm ok with them so far. Glad you found the sweat pants. good luck with the faucets
I did a French Rosetta Stone group lesson on line. was fun. off to practice harp. HAGD everyone

Hi all - sounds like everyone had a good day- Amy - great about the bouncing! I remember them! For "friendly" ice cream - try Skinny Cow treats if you can find them -they are really yummy.
we did ride this morning -did a combo loop ride -3 parts of 3 loops -hoping we can "confuse" the horses so they don't get bored!
DH & I put a deposit on new living room furniture -14-17 weeks to come in -the set we have now is not that old (6+ years) but hasn't worn well -& we were under the impression when we bought it that it was all leather but eventually realized it was "bonded" leather which peels and of course the cats did a number on the arms -so now we have 14+ weeks to figure out how to avoid that again -they have not scratched the spots in a long time but with something new -who knows?
Cathy -good luck - I'm sure you will do fine - Beth -how is DH doing? started the order yet? (oops - noticed Amy asked the same!)
Faye - was there a reason for the French lesson or just because?
Dutch -did Ally do ok w/ fireworks? I forgot -where are you again? was there a big display or just local stuff?

Good evening. DH had PT again today. He's doing much better. He does exercises on the days he doesn't go. Today they measured his knee. The swelling has gone down but is not totally gone.
My avatar is what I picked in the garden today. I also have some small green tomatoes so they have some growing and turning red to do. Have a lot of blooms for peppers and also have some small peppers but not ready to pick yet. The squash I replanted finally has some blooms and one plant has a small (1inch) yellow summer squash on it.
Because of DH's surgery and PT and the holiday I haven't done my monthly grocery shopping yet. I plan to do that tomorrow. The cap order I have until the end of July to do so I will probably start that maybe Saturday.

Hi all,
Tracked yes but went over a little.
Met with a personal trainer at the gym yesterday. She got me to do weight machines so I can come back and use them on my own. I have worked with her before but what we were doing was hard to repeat on my own and be sure I was using good form. I was resistant to machines before because I used them a long time ago and didn't really like them. Well, they have come a long way! Now I like them a lot more and they fit me better. So now when I go to the gym on my own I can do some cardio and add in the weight machines
The struggle is real with this weight loss thing. I need to change my mindset and think more about being healthy then how I look. Health is what I used to focus on but somehow my mind switched to appearance. I do better if I think about being stronger, aging better, being healthier then when I think about how I look.
Going out today to do some comparison shopping for stair runner. I know what I want at the Home Depot but I am going to check out a few local shops before we put the order in. I might start staining today, can't wait to be done with this project. I am looking forward to being able to take that "After" photo.

didn't track but already tracked today's meals so hoping I stick to it AMY-I agree about the mindset for healthy not appearance. They say picture your toned arms-my arms are over 50 years old and no matter what I do will never look the way I want them to look. or my thighs after the fall, the scar makes it pucker a little and now the legs are uneven in how they look. So I get depressed when they say to picture a toned body. maybe 30 years ago ok, but now I agree, healthy is the way to go. hope you find the runner you want. and good luck finishing the project BARB-mazel tov on the furniture. use it in good health (when you get it in the fall or winter ) is it also a leather set? BETH-glad DH is doing well. that's quite a bunch of lovely veggies. hope they all come in . bet it tastes great. do you do berries too or just veggies? LIBBY-lovely photos DUTCH-hope all is well. CATHY-good luck on your certification test. is it very long? do you find out right away? I remember when tests took months to find out and now things are on computer and you find out right away. facial later. HAGD looks like rain again.

Hi Again!
Beth- Wow those veggies look delicious! Do you put any up or make pickles if you get a bumper crop? I had a friend who's mom made the best pickles when I was a kid. I wish I had been smart enough to have her show me how, I am sure she would have been happy to share her skill. I am so glad the swelling is going down for DH. Surgery is always a risk and it sounds like his recovery is going really well!
Faye- how is the French coming along? Does it come back to you? I never really had a talent for languages. My Dad spoke three fairly well ( French, German and Italian) and could pick up a little of a new one if he was going travel. I did not inherit this talent. Your trip to visit family sounds so great!
Barb- I know you know those horses know where they are! LOL. I am sure they enjoy mixing up the route though. My trainer is always telling me to mix up what I do and in what order during my practice rides so Lukas doesn't start to anticipate. Must be the year for new furniture, our new sofa and coffee table are being delivered on Monday. Did you switch up colors or the number and type of furniture pieces? All of the sudden we all have gotten the "update" motivation. I blame Libby and her kitchen remodel, it got us all thinking, LOL.
Cathy- hope you get a swim in! We are getting periodic thunder storms today. How did the plumbing fixture shopping go? Hope your testing goes really well.
Hi to Dutch and Libby.

Hi ladies! ( I think you're all ladies anyway... any fellas hiding here???) lol
Phew - been BUSY! But good.
Beach weather was fabulous! Survived the 4th (also our anniversary - so a bit stressful). All animals survived fireworks. Ally just standing in the field like whatever... cat came in the house in the morning - win win!
My package came! Now I have a saddle pad, french link loose-ring snaffle and a bot knife! whoop! Bit looks big-but for the price will likely keep it.
I cleared the black berries off property fence line.. about 1,000 feet worth. I'm a little tired now! lol But looks better. Ally helped... ate some branches hahaha. Silly girl!
Next on Ally' training list? lol I still haven't taken her off the property! DH says he'll move the trailer out of my way so I can get the horse trailer off the property... and then take her for a 15/20 min drive. I'm just slow as I cannot work with her daily and I usually only get 30min to do so. But now I have what I need for her - just not sure if stuff fits. Time will tell.
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th!!
Waves to all!

DUTCH-Happy anniversary. and sounds like you had a lovely holiday and got lots done as well. AMY-the french is coming back. I can understand it mostly and can read a bit but thinking up what to say still gives me a bit of trouble. I used to go to the French bookstore in NYC and get magazines, like a French Ladies home journal to help with reading it but the bookstore closed years ago. Makes me said. it had records and books and magazine. Enjoy your new furniture.

HI all - Beth - jealous that your veggies are ready -we won't see anything for another 3+ weeks (if that!) Good about DH doing his exercises!
Amy- yes leather again -(real leather this time!) went from caramel to a soft grey -just hope it looks ok w/ walls & valances on the windows as I don't want to start to have to paint! LOL Walls are a warm beige with some fauxing -valances have creams & some grey so should be ok! Stayed w/ sofa & loveseat - but w/ POWER (!) recliners! hoop de do!
Faye- France trip sounds wonderful -when, how long? never been -not on my bucket list -want to go back to Spain,Italy & Israel!
Dutch - your plans sound good -baby steps -glad you had a good time at the beach. is the water there warm enough to swim in it? Here in NH/Maine -the water rarely gets warm enough to swim in -at least for me! LOL
Cathy- how often do you have to take your certification tests? state mandated? When i was working as an insurance agent -i had to renew my license every 2 years -take 24 hrs of "continuing ed" - 2 of which had to be "ethics" (guess there are a lot of ethically challenged ins agents!) but you could do them on line or in classes -never too hard!
Hope Libby is having fun.
Rode this morning with the other woman at the barn - she has the 32+yr old paint -Penny gets along w/ him well -his pasture is along side the back of Penny's so they can "talk"! Farrier coming tomorrow -just in time -her feet are getting long!

AMY and BARB-grey is in. when i went to the carpet store for runners everything was grey based. so you are very "in STyle!" BARB-in the fall; 1 week so with losing the days you fly to and from about 5 full days. Excited and nervous. I won't give exact dates on line. but my guess is eventually I'll be off the board and you'll figure it out. Not till after the Jewish holidays so I can wish you a happy and healthy New YEar HAGE everyone

Hi, all! Faye, I always wanted to try Spanish (since it is California) but took German in school. I should check into that online class. Are you going to France? Did you mention that and I forgot? Barb, whoo-hoo new furniture...sounds awesome! The cat decided the new rug was fun to use on her claws so I got two small squirt bottles; she never knows where its coming from; it's sure helped Dutch, glad you got all the fun new gadgets...can't wait to hear how Ally does. Happy belated anniversary. Ocean is cold here too...feels good when it's super hot, but most surfers are in wet suits. Beth, glad DH is doing well. I love that your beans look so amazing...I should really try beans one year. Right now I have weeds Amy, good luck finding a deal on the runner. Do you have wall to wall elsewhere? I have laminate everywhere and while a runner seems nice, I wasn't sure it would go well with all the laminate...thoughts? Hello, Libby! Certification is a one-time deal. A lot of programmers took it a few years back but I was always too busy. Not no more, so I've completed one for study build (passed, as mentioned its all computer driven so you know right away if you pass), the next one for EDC will be in August probably. I really didn't want to swim today, it's really hot and thought the pool would be a zoo. Nope, was lovely, hardly anyone there and we all got our own lanes! So glad I went I could have stayed there all day... Cathy
