Good morning- LIBBY-good luck with the root canal today.
Pilates this morning then show tonight.
from last night:
BETH-happy anniversary to all of us and thanks again for finding a place for us to hang out!!
do you like the new choir director? was there any dinner or anything to get to know him? are the director and her husband moving far?
CATHY-show tomorrow is at the dementia unit at a senior community I've been to before, just not at that unit. I am very curious to try the cygnet. Anything in particular you want me to look for besides sound and feel and different woods? hope the cat is ok. glad you rode, but must have been hot. pretty photo on FB
BARB-homing pigeons, that sounds fun.does he actually send to other people? we had a barn with Clydesdales and some people went and rode them. I never got there and probalby won't bother now. even for a wagon ride.
waving to all. had a nice day. went to a farmer's market and got corn and kale and some other veggies. they were pretty . also made some meals for DH for when I'm at the hotel. he does come Saturday though for the conference and stays over and we go home Sunday after the concert.

Howdy all! Boo on the tooth pain! Hoping the dentist appt goes well today! yummy... farmers markets! We've been harvesting marion berries- few pounds worth. Came with the house. DH is happy. We had them with pancakes Sunday morning. DS LOVES picking them from the vine - the black and red ones! lol Decent weekend. Sprayed the property fence line (including black berries) and tansy. So that felt good. Went to Dollar store and got DS some learning books that are dry write- so he can practice his writing skills. Ally had a tree branch in her tail - came out pretty easily, thankfully! So we practice w/ spray bottles (she barely moved!) and hoses again - also improved. Fun stuff! Have a great day / week!

Hi, all! Faye, I think it's just that, the sound. I was talking to my teacher and apparently the one at camp is actually their lightweight one, but the strings are closer together, I guess to save weight? I wouldn't go there, I have enough issues going to the lap harp Good luck with the Dementia unit today...will be interesting to hear how the show went. I finally got a text from the woman about meeting up to play...next Sunday afternoon, I guess. Why is this so hard? I guess other people are just busier than me Beth, sorry about the choir director...hope DH likes the new one! Dutch, yes, what do marion berries taste like, as opposed to blackberries. I think it's interesting you spray those...like they are a nuisance? They have blackberries at the market but they are either old and soft or tart and hard Ally sounds like a great trail horse! Hi to all that follow! Didn't sleep well last night, kind of warm. Cat was busy too. I'll take the car to get washed...I wanted to do it but the weekends have either been hot or busy. Since today is another warm one, I'll opt to have someone else do it Harp lesson this afternoon. Cathy

Good afternoon. Ah! Hay making weather. Hot Hot Hot! Glad I don't have to haul hay this year.
The recent choir director and her DH went to Louisville KY as her DH is going for his masters in being a conductor. The U of A here didn't have a scholarship to cover all of the tuition and KY did. The church entered a contract with the U of A to supply choir directors for our church. We also get students who get credit for participating in the choir. The new director is another woman.
Got the cap order mailed off today. I ran out of thread this weekend and had two (2) caps left to do. Had to go to the store this morning and get thread so I could finish the order to mail off.
Waving to all.

BETH-glad you got the caps done. CATHY-there is very little if any standarization to string spacing. I'll ask Sharon Thormalen when I look at the harp. can't wait to try it. happy car wash. How's the cat? did she go to the vet yet about the missing fur?
waving to all. Pilates was good. did the treadmill. practiced harp. dressed and will pack up soon. it's tonight so I have time. Waving to all HAGD

Hi all,
DH and I went to a reunion party of college friends in VA on Saturday. It was fun. DH and I stopped by an antique mall on the way back to PA on Sunday. A lot of booths to see but we didn't buy anything, just fun to look and broke up the 3 hr. drive.
Rode this morning but the flies chased us into the indoor arena. It was early so not too hot yet and we had a pretty good practice ride. I seem to be riding on my own a lot lately but that has been good because I am really concentrating on improving a few things and I can concentrate more. Working on my leg placement and also trying to get the proper muscles stronger. I am getting more comfortable with flying changes too.
Lukas is letting me do so much more with him as far as grooming goes. He is actually enjoying it a lot more too. He relaxes when I curry him, his eyes half close and his lower lip hangs. He is good now with the spray bottle for fly spray too.
Someone was talking about how horses sleep and they don't sleep in long stretches like people do. They sleep for about 4 hours at a time. If they are in a herd outside they take turns laying down while others stand "look out" for predators. They will graze and snooze standing up throughout the day and night. I think my horses are awake more when they are outside at night and sleep more when they are in their stalls during the day during the warmer months. In the cold months the turnout is reversed and they sleep more at night in their stalls and are awake more during the day during turnout. Some of the horses in the barn will stay laying down even when people are around. Lukas tends to stand back up when people are around but I know he lays down when the barn is quiet because of the bedding stuck to his side sometimes LOL.
Faye-good luck with the show I am sure you will do well.
Cathy- when is your next cert. test? Glad you are working on your brothers painting again, I think you will be happy when it is completed.
Beth- glad you got the order finished although it must have been frustrating to have to go get more thread with only 2 hats left to complete. I remember you trying to convince us to move to this board and now we are all so glad you did! Happy anniversary to us.
Dutch- I have no idea what berries you are eating but I am glad you are enjoying the fruits of your land. Ally sounds like so much fun.
Barb- What is up with the flies this year? Do you think they are worse or do I just block them from my memory from last year. I will say it also seems to vary from day to day but I am not sure what contributes to that... Temp, humidity, fly life cycle, time of day? Do you see any reason?
Libby- tooth pain is some of the worst, I hope you get it resolved quickly.
still working on the steps. the top coat needs 3 coats with light sanding in between. I can't wait to finally be able to post the before and after pics on FB.

For those who don't know... Marion berries. A lot like black berries, a bit larger and sweeter. Looks a lot like a blackberry - a cousin would not surprise me. As far as spraying blackberries- they can take over fields in short amount of time. They can grown stringers 20 feet long, that then root in the ground and do it all over again. And will climb up neighboring shubs. Durable plant for! Great fruit - but I want a clear fence line - or my hot fence is not hot. I posted July 4th week that I trimmed the fence line (i think I posted anyways)... already have branches on my hot fence to be cut... 3 feet away. They are aggressive! Good morning AMY-interesting about the horse sleep patterns. glad you and DH had fun at the reunion. antique mall sounds fun too. DUTCH-thanks for info on the berries. LIBBY-how was the root canal? are you feeling better? BETH-sorry you had to run out to get the thread and glad the store had it! I'm usually "sorry lady, we just ran out!" BARB-any more shows? I forget , are you going on a cruise soon? CATHY-how was your lesson? how many more til she leaves again? hope you can get together with the duet pal. yes, my pal is busy too right now. haven't heard from her this month. The show went very well. Luckily it was humid so we were inside and good thing because half way through the skies opened and it poured--so much so that everyone's phone started playing music for the flooding alerts that were sent out by the town. Only one person talked throughout but since I play background, too, I can ignore it. A couple of people asked questions. But I started about 15 min early and played til 7 so it was about 1.25 hrs of playing and I was tired! some nice gentleman got the luggage cart for me and when i left a worker there said they liked it and it was a nice relaxing show for them so I was really happy. Changing my book so I can work on some of the Medieval thru Modern for next month. the background show in August will be mostly what I played yesterday with some others (I already have music waiting for me that I ordered) working out this AM and a massage later. More pop up thunder showers. Waving to all. HAGD

Good morning -yesterday slipped by me -DH & I went to the beach -first time all year -it's about an hour from us -it was lovely -although water in NE is too cold to swim in -we walked the beach & I read -then we went to our fav lobster roll place for a late (3:30) lunch & were home by 5ish! This morning I have an 8am session w/TUndra for agility -then will head to barn & ride if not to yukky!
Amy - not sure about why flies are so bad this year -they have been on & off on our trails & of course more in the deep wooded part -so we are staying mostly on the main trails. All this week my goal is to be out early -before it gets too hot -predicting upper 80's -90 & muggy -not fun to ride. I know some women who just don't for the fly season! Riding alone has it's benefits but sometimes it is lonely! I sing to Penny on the trail!
Faye- glad your show went well -have fun at the conference -I am doing a small event this Saturday -it's the NH British Sports Car Club annual conference -it's outdoors -people bring their sports cars for spectators to look at -it's a fund raiser for High Hopes & they have food & some vendors -a friend of mine has a car & asked me to do it -I have no expectations so whatever I sell will be a bonus (it only cost me $25 to do the event!)
Beth - glad you got the caps done -always feels good -haha about haying -the hay our BM got this year actually looks pretty good -still using up the ends of last years so time will tell. How's DH doing?
Libby- when were you going to the dentist? How are things w/ DGD going? Have the horses all settled down from the sillies?
Dutch -sounds like Ally is coming along -so many horses are just silly about spraying -good that you are working that part!
Cathy- hard to sleep when it's hot -we have our ceiling fan going pretty much every night -even with the A/C on -one of our cats sleeps right at the foot of the bed & if you try to move her it's not pretty -then at 6am she starts getting in my face -I have a sprayer bottle on my nightstand that I use sometimes to move her off -but of course then the dog starts to chase her so by then I'm up! Hope you get to swim today.

BARB-beach sounds lovely. I laugh when you take Tundra for agility training--i'm supposed to do agility training for my hip so maybe Tundra and i should team up! the ticks are very bad this year, they said because it wasn't that cold so nothing died off. may be the reason for the flies. what's High HOpes? we expect more pop up thundershowers so hope you get none and can ride. enjoy
off to work out. waving to all.

Hi horse lovers, Root canal was a long process-I had a bad infection that didn't show up on x-rays, my crown broke during it-pretty sore this morning. It's going to take weeks to get another crown and I've max'd out my dental-so this is what savings is for I guess, bye bye to that best ever saddle pad I was going to buy! Antibiotics and IB for another couple days. 1-800-whah! Dgd's are great! I have all 3 of them today. We will go up to barrel racing around 3:30 and be there till 9:00 - hope 3 yo can handle it ;)I'll have her bring some toys and snacks! Everyones is getting up so I'll try and check back later. HAGD

Hi all, This is one of the 2 weeks out of the year that my DH's office is closed (other one is in Feb). We are doing a stay-cation with a mix of fun stuff and getting stuff done. He is at his eye appointment now but we are going out to lunch and then to see the new Planet of the Apes movie.
I did a yoga class this morning to switch things up at the gym, it was a good class. No riding today but my lesson is tomorrow at 10 am.
Faye- that is a long time to play! When you think back to your first show did you think then that you would be doing this now? So great.
Dutch- Sounds like a never ending battle with the berries. At least you get some betties out of the deal.
Libby- I hope the tooth is restored soon. I am sorry you maxed out your benefits but glad you can still get the care you need.
Barb- are you still using the riding fly net that cover the neck? Is it working out well? I sing to my horse too (poor thing) I think singing relaxes me though and consequently relaxes him.
Cathy- are the kids staying out of your yard this year and being less destructive?
Lukas has some funky crud type thing on his face now. I do groom him when I am there but it has been so humid lately and I am not there every day. I think I caught it early though and put my stand by MTG on it so hopefully it will clear up fast. I am careful to sponge his face when he is sweaty from riding but I wasn't following it with a towel to dry it thinking it would just dry on it's own.

Hi, all! Faye, sounds like you might have a repeat customer on your hands! Glad it went well, and yes, I don't think I could sit for 1.25 hrs playing constantly. I suppose if you're used to it. I think my teacher leaves end of August, but she also is teaching kids camp a couple of weeks in August so not sure how much time I have. There are actually 4 of us meeting on Sunday to play together...it got bigger! Barb, funny about the cat. Mine gets in bed sometimes so not as much of a nuisance as she used to be. But it's in your ear and refusal to give up that drives me nuts. Add to the fact that I've probably just got to sleep, and I'm not too happy with her in the morning Glad you had fun at the beach...the water is too cold here as well but when it's REALLY hot, it can feel refreshing! Beth, I always run out of thread, but then I just change colors, not something I think you can do with embroidery Glad you got it all done! Libby, wow...sounds like Monday was a long day...and you're going to barrel races all afternoon and evening??!? Are you Superwoman? Sorry about running out of coverage, it sucks to use savings for that stuff but as you say, it's why it's there. Good luck tonight! Amy, it think it really helps to work on your own...besides which, we can't afford to have a teacher with us all the time Sounds like you had a nice reunion and I LOVE stopping at antique stores! Dutch, interesting about the different types of berries. I know there are two types of blackberries here, the indigenous ones (smaller, slower growing) and the English (larger leaves, fast growing). I love blackberries but will look for marion berries as well Blue berries will start showing up soon...love those too! Vet visit is tomorrow; f/up on the diabetes, UTI and now hair growth, or lack thereof Will swim today. It's still hot so not sleeping well, even with a fan bringing in cool air from outside. Kind of cranky. Cathy

Blue berries will start showing up soon...love those too! We just planted 2 bushes this year... got like 20 berries. Loved them! Last house had 10 bushes- no clue how old but the were taller than me at 5'4"! So many berries! Yum!

Amy - yes - still using the full face & neck fly mask -I love it and think Penny does too! It does make it better - I still carry my fly swtich & swat around her head but at least the flies are not on her body -just the mask! As far as the yukky stuff on his face -if the MSG doesn't help -you might look into EquiDerm -for as long as I have had her Penny had scaly waxy gunk on her hind legs (legs are white -the gunk was black) I tried so many things -anti-fungals, washes - you name it -this year I saw something on FB about Equiderm & figured why not -tried it and her legs are clear! they look so good (not clean ) but no more gunky stuff!
Off to see Planet of the Apes movie -I love the series - and they ride horses! woo hoo!

BARB-enjoy the movie. DUTCH-i love blueberries! wish I could plant stuff but would need an 8'fence to keep out deer; and my luck the ground hogs would then polish it off. CATHY-hope you swim. 4 to play sounds fun. I would stand occasionally to introduce a tune but it was a long time. If background i play an hour and then take a 10 min break. hope the cat does well at the vet. Glad the noisy kids are moving. AMY-enjoy the movie. curious for reviews from you and Barb. have you done yoga before? And no, when I did my first show I never thought it would turn out to be this. I really enjoy it. I like researching tunes and playing background.
waving to Beth and Libby and ATF . have a good day

Hi, Back from planet of the Apes movie. It was good for that type of movie, started off with a big battle scene during which I just closed my eyes and listened. I did pay attention to the horses in the movie and the main characters had 4 with them. 3 dark bays(or black, lighting wasn't good)with very little markings and feathers so I was thinking Friesians but they looked skinny for that breed unless the giant apes on them made them look smaller. The fourth horse was a gray that was older so pretty much white. I am pretty sure they used more then one horse to play this part because I noticed a change at one point I was thinking "that is not the same horse". I wish I had caught Barb before she left because I would have asked her to pay attention to the gray. There are more horses during bigger scenes but you don't really get a good look at them. Another weird part is that at one point they abandon their horses in the wild during their travels and at the very end they are back riding them again. It is more my husbands kind of movie but it did have a good plot to follow not just battles. I don't want to give it away in case any of you are going.
I am going to post comments under your posts.

HI - Amy - haha =yes I noticed some strange things about the horses as well - and I thought Friesians -especially the black one-and yes - it was good for what it was -excapeism !
Too hot this morning to ride- I cleaned (ok -stripped again) the shed -as both horses have the summer "drools" the shed is puddled -along with the heavy rain yesterday afternoon!
Heading to a consignment shop in a bit to take all my grandmothers china etc that I have had in my pantry for over 20 years -never touched -time to see if I can move it out -as my DS/DDIL don't want it -figure whatever I get for it will be better than nothing!

Hi, all! Faye, I think it's great that you found something new to do in your "retirement" So, on Monday, my teacher said "everyone put Cardiff, Wales, 2020 on your calendar!". Apparently, the International Harp Festival will be there that year and she wants us all to do. Uh...huh. Barb, hope you can sell the china. When by brother was married, my SIL took the dishes that my mom had from her side of the family (guess I didn't count). I don't know where they are now since they divorced. I think she gave them back but who knows. Too hot to ride but not too hot to strip stalls??!?!? Uh, what's summer "drools"? Beth, sorry about the heat...I guess that means no walking, huh? I also like "deep summer"...brings up memories of playing in Michigan in the summer and seeing Indians in the woods Amy, glad you had fun at the movie (and Barb as well). It did get pretty good reviews, for that type of movie, as you say. Dutch, so cool that you put in blueberries. Do those have thorns? It would be fun to try something like that, I think they like the cooler weather this area has...at least until recently Hi to Libby! Yes, vet visit is this morning...never look forward to these, I feel so sorry for her, poked and prodded. She puts up with it but is very vocal in her displeasure. Got in a great swim yesterday, again very quiet. I realized that the regulars (the two ladies who always chat more than swim) are on vacation so that's a plus Cathy

CATHY-so glad it was a great swim. oh sure, wales, I'll put it on my calendar now. LOL good luck at the vet BARB-good luck with the china. hope it sells. there was an article that no one wants handed down stuff any more and hard to get rid of.
AMY- the movie got good reviews. this is the 3rd, did you see the others? I remember the original ones with I think it was Charlton Heston! I think many things with horses have "stunt horses" or doubles. some are for closeups I think.
hot here too. hope everyone keeps cool. Waving to BETH, and LIBBY and Dutch and ATF. Have good day.

Hi all,
Tracking has fallen by the wayside on my vacation week.
My lesson went well today even with the heat and high humidity. Lukas got a full bath afterwards with shampoo and all the extras he was so sweaty. The flies were not too bad in the outdoor ring today.
The show coat I ordered came in and I am going to the tack shop tomorrow. I hope it works out.
Going to go pick up some Chinese food for dinner.

Quiet here, after last week's busy work days, I'm back to the usual quiet. Will swim today.

Hi all - HOT-HOT-HOT! (and did I mention muggy!)
Well the trip to the consignment shop was eye opening -and as Faye said -no one wants this stuff and there is plenty of it out there -long story short -stuff that had been appraised 20 years ago -plates then $25 each -they said they could sell for $5 - & I would get 1/2 - if they sold! Some glasses appraised @ $32 -$1 now -a full porcelain nippon china tea set -appraised for $800 - now $55! Those things I just couldn't leave there -some of the other stuff I did leave -and of course there is no guarantee they will sell - not sure what I will do with the other stuff -but just couldn't do it for that - I also realize that at some point I HAVE to do something -just not now!
Amy - glad your lesson went well -I didn't ride again due to heat etc. Hope your chinese food was good.
Also -last night when Dee went back to check on them -she texted me - Penny had a small cut in the "armpit" of hind leg - so I went out -nothing bad - looked like maybe she had rolled & caught it on a rock? wasn't bleeding -just a bit red, raw. Of course she would not allow me to touch it to clean it so I sprayed with some scarlet oil -put bute in her dinner -this morning the spot looked about the same -maybe a small bit of swelling around the cut -I tried to put Swat on it -no go -so sprayed again -tomorrow when Dee is there I will have her hold a leg so I can get at it -Bute again tonite -just to be safe.
Hope you ladies are all keeping cool -I know we should not complain - waving to all - enjoy the rest of the day -CBL
