Hi again,
Welcome to Julie. I have a 16 hand Westphalian gelding names Lukas, he is 13 years old. I purchased him Oct. 20th of last year so I have had him not quite a year yet. I compete in Hunter's.
Good for you being so close to goal! I keep gaining and losing the same 4 lbs and have not reached goal. My biggest fear is gaining the all weight I lost back so at least that hasn't happened. I keep catching myself before I backslide too far so I am pretty happy with that. If I would lose 5 "new pounds" I would be at goal but it seems almost impossible for me sometimes.
Heading out to the gym tonight.

LIBBY-glad you called 911 to get help for the woman. sad. wish you could have found out the result. don't forget to give yourself a day of rest with pilates or exercise. it's the building back up of muscle that makes the difference. so do it every other day or legs one day and core the other CATHY-museum sounds fun. is it background? that's very little stress. JULie-hi and welcome. I used to take lessons English and jumped but then the lesson horse got scared and I fell and broke my hip and wrist about 2 yrs ago. I'm ok now but it was a long year before I had the hardware removed from the hip. glad you found us

HI Ladies, here is a bit more about me. I live in Norton, MA with my husband of (soon to be 23 years - anniversary is August 6th), but we celebrated our 30th year of being together this year. We have no kids and just an old lab mix, Jackson. We lost our other dog Zoey in February. I work in Boston and have been with the same company for 20 years and can really say that I love my job and I am blessed with that. They are very flexible with my schedule so I can have time to ride.
I started riding when I was 10 years old, the farm was directly across the street from my house. I've take a few breaks over the years, but once a horse lover, always a horse lover. I currently lease a 17.2H Hanoverian gelding named JD and we do dressage. JD has lived at my friend's house in her back yard, it is a great set-up.
I started back with WW a year ago (my 1 year WW anniversary is this Saturday_. What started me back.... I needed a new pair of tall riding boots and I could not find any that fit my short legs and 16 1/4 calf size!!! I was going to order a custom pair at the tune of $1,800 - YIKES!!!! I set up the appointment for the fitting and everything. Then I started thinking, hell NO, I am NOT going to do this. I am going to lose the flipping weight. This Spring, I walked into the tack shop and bought a pair of tall boots off the rack in a short calf, 14 3/4 calf width. I was in tears in the tack shop, TEARS. I am just about at goal, crossing my fingers I'll get there on Saturday, that would just be icing on the cake celebrating my 1st year recommitted to WW and make goal.
Thanks everyone.

Good Morning - Play was fun -Sally Struthers was in it -she is usually in one play a year at this playhouse- I have met her a few times thru a friend who has done bit parts in these plays -she's just a regular person!
Julie -I am just up the road in Nashua NH! Our ponies are outside 24/7 as well -heated water in winter -strips over front of shed to keep out wind etc!
Libby -sad about that woman -good that you were able to help her -
Faye -how long will it take to repair the harp? I think I've asked you this before (CRS*) how often do you have to tune them?
Cathy - swim paddles! pretty snazzy! congrats (?) on the new project -is it at the same location?
Waving to Dutch & Amy
Off to Upreach -then barn to clean & lunch -hope to ride -depending on the weather (the story of my life!) then having BBQ (weather permitting) at DDIL's parents house (they live about 2 miles from us!)

LIBBY-good luck with your projects today CATHY-glad you like the swim gloves BARB-you have a busy day. enjoy. i tune every day in this weather. every few days if weather is better. some harps hold tune better than others (the fluorcarbon strings do well, the gut on the pedal a bit fussier). should take a week roughly but first she has to get the paint so she may have the harp longer than that. i emailed her. hope to hear soon. luckily I have 2 folk harps! I like Sally Struthers. glad you enjoyed JULIE-do you ride every day. english or western? BETH-hope it's cooled off by you AMY-any more schooling shows? did you get the runner for the stairs? DUTCH-hope things continue to improve food wish at daycare. good you said something

Hi, all! Faye, glad your working out how best to get the harp repaired. I guess this is a good time to have more than one harp (I also have a small harpsicle that I bought at the 2012 conference...hardly ever play it, hard to go from 5 octaves to 2 ). Libby, that was so sweet of you to help that woman...if she has dementia she could have been living in the past, maybe someone abused her when she was younger. On the Santa Cruz Police FB page, they are always posting missing people, folks who have dementia or Alzheimer's...so sad. I guess I'm going to have to try that DVD Barb, glad you enjoyed the play, funny how some stars use their retirement! I met Loretta Swit, from MASH Tv show at a gem/jewelry show...go figure. Have fun at the BBQ, hope you get in a ride. Amy, have fun at the gym! Julie, I'm glad you found a lease situation...17.5 is a pretty big boy! I loved leasing...I still think I'd like to try again, some day...when I have money Hope Saturday brings the WL you want! Hi to Dutch...hope things aren't too stressful! The new project, or contract, is yes, here, but I think the client is based in Ohio? My direct report is working on their first study build, so they are just adding more folks to the contract/roster. Tried to get in for some on-line training but it wouldn't work. See a new email/invitation today so maybe they sorted out the issues. Will swim today, walked yesterday. Cathy

Hi Ladies, I don't get to ride everyday, but I do shoot for 4 days a week. My boss lets me leave early 2 days a week so I can get some saddle time during the week. I did get to ride yesterday, which was nice and the weather was perfect. Couldn't tonight because I had to pick up my dog from the vet. My dog, Jackson, is a 13 yo Lab and his blood work on Saturday didn't come back great, so he was in today for x-rays. The x-rays showed that his spleen is enlarged. The next step is an ultrasound, but we will not do surgery to remove his spleen. The surgery is just too major for him at this point in his life. We will see what happens, but we are feeling a bit low right now. We just lost our other dog in February and I am just not ready for this yet!!!!
I'm riding both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, probably a lesson with our trainer. We are working on 1st Level and 2nd Level stuff. We just did our first 1st Level test a few weeks ago and all was good, but room for improvement for sure. It is amazing how much better I can ride without 50 extra pounds moving in the wrong direction!!

Good Morning- Sun is out! Yea! Heading out to ride in a bit (first time all week) plan to ride pretty much most of next week -as once we leave on Friday Penny will have a summer vacation of a week!
Faye- where will you go for a microwave? We have always had good luck w/ Sears brands -ours is over the stove - pretty basic -just microwave -no convection! Good luck (the hardest part is finding someone to reasonably install it! My regular appliance person wanted over $100, Sears almost the same -but my general handyman did it for $25!- it wasn't brain surgery -just awkward due to size & location!)
Amy- any lessons this weekend -how is taking Lukas out alone going?
Waving to Cathy, Libby, Beth & Dutch

Hello! Julie, sorry about the lab, my df's lab is 11 yo and they just removed her spleen two weeks ago. Found out afterwards that it was CA and not much they can do about it, the pup seems happy and will just live her life out now. Our lab is 11 yo also, she is my ds's trained service animal. Congrats on the wt loss! I always say that my horse loves that fact that I've lost 35 lbs lol! Barb & Faye; I'm in the market for a new microwave also, I'll just have to pull out the old and set in the new, as the electrical and cabinets are all new and set up I'll look at sears. Barb; glad you are getting to ride! Beth: School starting early August just seems wrong to me! Amy; Glad you found a jacket Cathy; you should get the dvd - I bought it used on Amazon for pretty cheap. Small moves that really work the muscles! Now I have to think about swimming for my aerobic exercise. Question, do you wear a swim cap and does it keep your hair dry? I flat iron my frizzy hair and just the time involved with the after swim care is stopping me! Dutch; Waving to you! I have to bring ds to the drs. this morning for an issue he is having, then at 1:00 do my monthly childcare visit, I think I'll ride both horses after that Saturday is dh good friends (and our contractor) 60th birthday party- I was asked to bring the veggie tray, how boring, I think I'll go shopping and get some different veggies and cut them up myself to make it more interesting. Anyone have a favorite homemade dip?

Hi, all! Faye, I just talked to her for a couple of minutes, mostly about the gems/jewelry. Her booth was a crush so lots of folks just wanted a look at Hotlips My microwave came from Sears. Since I bought all Sears appliances I got quite a good deal on delivery and installation Just have measurements, they are inexpensive. Amy, yay you got a date for installation! Will be lovely when all done, I'm sure! I'm with you re: WL. I'm stuck: I'm good on Friday, but gain back that one lousy pound over the weekend and then start over. Even tracking doesn't seem to be helping Weekends are hard! Julie, sorry about the pup. My brother had a HUGE yellow lab, too much growth too fast and he was on steroids for the pain, which affects the liver. My brother was like, I want him to be comfortable so he stays on the steroids. Hard decisions...I've been close a couple of times to put the cat down, but she always rebounds so just take the time you need...don't ever feel pushed. Good luck! I loved dressage...a mental challenge for me Libby, I ordered the DVD (along with new swim goggles). I do use a cap; it doesn't keep the water out, but keeps my head warm, which is nice. I know some of the ladies order the "long hair" caps and I think those might do a better job of keeping hair dry, but don't quote me on that. I think the reason we're supposed to wear caps is that the chlorine and sun are bad for your hair. Do you go anywhere after you swim? I wash it, put in some leave-in conditioner, and just usually put it in a pony tail and head home. Barb, have a fun ride! Is next Friday...Florida, or was it a cruise? Have a good weekend, Dutch...try to relax Got in a nice swim again, still trying the paddles, they are kind of fun. Going to meet up at the local microbrewery late this afternoon with the one guy who was in my watercolor class. He's the one with the brain tumor, haven't seem him since early spring. Sounds like he's doing well but will be nice to see him. Cathy

BARB-my neighbor likes her GE profile. I'll go to PC richard tomorrow and see what they have. Have a good ride and are you all packed for the trip? LIBBY-glad you like the DVD. muscles build by breaking down during the exercise and get stronger when it rebuilds so that's why they say to always give a day off or alternate. Hope DS is ok. enjoy the party. I cheated and got low fat dressing for a dip. forgot what I got, it was white and creamy so it wouldn't drip. JULIE-so sorry about your dog. very hard. hope things go ok with the ultrasound WEd. Happy riding. nice you get some time off to do it.

Hi all,
the last top coat is on the steps. Now just a few touch ups with the trim color paint and I am done!
Julie- I bet you have nice long legs doing dressage on a 17.5 hand horse! I have very short legs and dressage is tough for me. My horse also is a nice round guy so he takes up my leg. Hope things work out for your pup, I had a chocolate lab for 12 years, he was an awesome dog.
Cathy- for some reason the word harpsicle made me smile. I thought swim caps were to keep the hair out of the pool filters and make you more aerodynamic, I wore them as a kid and they never kept my hair dry. Hope you have a nice visit with the friend from painting class. I don't know how to get un-stuck with this weight thing.
Faye-you are shopping for a microwave and we are going to look for a new clothes washer. It's always something isn't it?
Barb- I saw Sally Struthers in a play in Baltimore over 30 years ago, I don't remember what it was but I do remember enjoying her performance. It is fun to see celebrities doing other things, it's like when you were a little kid and saw your teacher somewhere other then school. LOL. Like they had lives. HA!
Beth- how is the new older dog doing. Are the other pets used to him now?
Libby- Glad you got some help for the lost older lady. It is good when we can help someone in need.
I have not been expanding Lukas' world as far as riding out goes. We are holding steady with where we go and I will work on it a lot more in the cooler less buggy weather. I hope to have him on the trails off the property before heavy winter weather. He has definitely caught on to the idea that riding out is supposed to be "relax" time for both of us. I am also trying to recruit my friend with the Palomino to go with me so I will be slowly expanding their world too.(if I can).

Good evening. I was blanching peas to put into the freezer today. DH is finishing shelling the rest of the peas and then tomorrow I will blanch the rest to freeze. I hope it rains tonight to cool things off. Most of the rain has been hitting Birmingham and missing us. If we don't get rain I will need to water the garden tomorrow as the plants are starting to wilt some. Just got my first tomatoes today. The cucumbers are producing like wild. The pole beans (green beans) are doing great but the peppers seem to be stunted. The squash has been producing the past week. We had stewed squash, purple hull peas, fresh green beans and some mac and cheese for our dinner.
Coco still wants to chase the cats outside but they know he's on a leash and can only go so far. He has adjusted to us very well. I plan to take him to the groomer next week after we get paid.

Good morning -Cool & Cloudy here today -but that's ok! We leave NEXT Friday for Florida -my DF's 98th birthday -then on that Monday (8/7) we leave from Miami for the cruise -1 1/2 days in Havana, a day on the private island -beach day -then back to Miami on Friday - short & sweet but a chance to spend time w/ DS & DDIL without her family around!
Beth- glad Coco is adjusting -chasing cats -something they never get over- Tundra still tries to "play" with our 2 -one cat will tolerate her -the other -not so much -it's a constant standoff! (no blood has been drawn!). Your garden sounds like it is in it's prime - ours is finally starting -just as we head out! I have cukes, and tons of pepper -jalapenos, and some milder ones as well. We make poppers, I chop & slice & freeze some for the winter chili -going to make some pesto today (I freeze in ice cube trays). Tomatoes not ready yet.
Amy - that's great about getting Lukas out to relax. doing a bit more each day is the way. There is a great resource on line -Julie Goodnight -for trail tips (and general riding) she has a great website with a lot of free info. I really like her. Have seen her a few times at Equine Affair, talked w/ here there about issues and she always had good advice.
Faye & Cathy - must be microwave conspiracy! have fun shopping -some are so ornate -I just wanted basic!
Libby - hope DS is ok - and rides went well.
Page is riding again -I will PM her on FB to see if she will join us here
Waving to Dutch & Julie - HAGD - Ride if you can - CBL

Barb; your short vaca sounds lovely! I like Julie Goodnight also, watch her u-tube demonstrations once in a while, and get her email info weekly. Faye; yesterday was Day 3 on the dvd I can't believe how weak my core is! I am feeling stronger already-in just 3 days, after a few weeks I'll be so strong!! Cathy; I guess i'm too worried about having wet hair to swim regularly. I need to get over it lol Amy; sounds like the stairs are coming along and great that the carpet is scheduled! Going slow with Lukas on trails sounds like a good idea. If he has mostly been in the ring, the trails are a totally different experience. Julie: congrats on the first level test! Dressage is hard, and I really like it Beth; sounds like your garden is doing great! you and barb are making me wish I had planted something-yet with remodeling and having dgd this summer, I wouldn't have been able to tend it! I ended up being ill yesterday with stomach/gut issues-yuck - Sometimes my medication does that to me...... hate having to deal with it. Still exercised, brought ds to drs and did my childcare consulting. Ended up holding a few babies (love that part) I didn't ride or each much dinner and went to bed early! Today is another day HAGR everyone!

LIBBY-hope you are feeling better. give it 6 weeks to really see a change in the core with Pilates. Glad you like it. Maybe put conditioner in your hair and a swim cap. There are shampoos to help get the chlorine out of your hair. BARB-sounds like a great vacation. bought the GEProfile microwave. by the time you pay or instalation and a service contract it practically doubles in price. luckily it was on sale. they put it in Tuesday. Saw the photos of Page. hope she joins us AMY-sounds great about the trail riding. BETH-glad Coco is doing well and hope the cats don't become nervous. sounds like quite the harvest. hope you get rain but nothing like some places are getting. CATHY-any movement on your brother's painting? DUTCH-hope all is well. still very busy at work? still looking?? a wegman's opened nearby. we went. boy was it busy. will try again during the week and early in the morning. got a few things but interestingly they didn't have some things I usually get. Hate having to go to different stores but some carry one thing and some others. going to the city tomorrow-new tea place. will celebrate my new "steady gig". waving to all HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, is a Wegman's a grocery store, or all-in-one store, like Meyers? Glad you got a microwave, you can save a lot with a good sale Have fun tomorrow! Barb, that does sound like a lovely vacation. My cousin and his wife went to Cuba quite soon after they "opened the borders". Really loved it, but different. Beth, you have a green thumb, for sure! Do you have an extra freezer that you put all this stuff in? Libby, hope you're feeling better today, drugs can do a number if you don't eat before meds. Yeah, no matter what, you're hair will get wet...it's something to deal with. Amy, did you get a washer? Glad the stairs are almost done! I loved trail riding, I think I miss that more than showing/riding in the ring. Hi to Dutch and Julie! Met up with watercolor friend yesterday. He's doing well, all things considered. he didn't think he'd make it to Xmas but they've managed to stop the tumor growth, which is miraculous, so he seems to be happy with more time. He says it's the marijuana Today was errands and cleaning, probably will do some painting now. Cathy

Hi all, I am done the stair project! Even the touch up painting. Once the carpet runner is installed on Tuesday I will put up before and after pics on FB.
DH and I picked out a new clothes washer yesterday. I need to clean out and organize the laundry room before it arrives. Tends to be one of those "catch all" places and it was on the list but just moved to the top. I have two weeks until delivery but really it should only take a day or two to complete.
Beth- Are all these veggies coming from the bale garden? They sound yummy. Glad Coco is working out so well.
Barb- Wow 98, that's great! Have fun on your vacation too. I will have to check out this Julie Goodnight on you tube.
Libby-Hope you are feeling better today.
Cathy- glad you friend is happy with more time. I can't imagine what that is like to know you will die soon. It is nice that you spent some time with him. Hope your painting went well.
Faye- Let us know how the tea place is! Congrats again on the steady gig.
Hi to Julie and Dutch,
Lukas and I had a really great practice ride today and the weather was so nice with a good breeze. The barn was quiet this morning and I spent extra time just grooming Lukas in his stall, he likes it an it relaxes both of us.

Hi All
tracking yes!
It was another beautiful day today. Did not make it to the barn but I did take a walk though the neighborhood. Saw a small snake cross the road and also stopped to look into the creek and was happy to see small fish.
Have a good day.
