Join in if you are someone who loves, owns, has owned, leases, rides, or just likes to watch these magnificent animals! We love to share stories and talk about the critters that keep us on our toes and in the saddle while on this weight loss journey. If you don't see this thread, please feel free to start it. Good morning.
Got to take DH to the bus shop to pick up his bus this morning. School here starts tomorrow.
QOTD-Have you ever ridden side saddle?
Answer-no I haven't. I've wanted to but never did.

Hi all, Tracked some Steps 10,166
My DD1 still has my car but I am driving her to work so I can have it today. I have my lesson today if my trainer isn't sick. I am going to the Ocean in Point Pleasant NJ this weekend! I have not been to the ocean in about 6 years. Just me and my 2 DD's going. The men in the family are not fond of the ocean. I have not been getting much computer time in and when I do I always feel rushed. I am enjoying some of the Olympics. Recording all the equestrian events which is fun. Got to run, again.

Hi, Back from dropping DD1 off at work. When I put comments below peoples posts do you go back and read them? Is it like face book in that you get notifications when there is a comment?
I went back and tracked yesterday. I am not quite over my weeklies but yesterday was pretty pointy. I did not feel "right" yesterday but I think I drank too much coffee at the office and was dehydrated too.
I got caught up a little in reading comments on fb regarding the horse stopping and rider fall in the stadium jumping part of eventing. I can kind of see why the equestrian sports are not as highly rated. Most non-horsey people don't really understand the sport. There were people commenting that they were going to shoot the horse now and other ridiculous statements.
Since everyone is having so much fun watching the Olympic riding I can highly recommend the USEF network on line. They cover so many disciplines all year long,it is really fun to watch.

Good Morning - Amy have fun at the beach - we are about 1- 1.5 hours from beaches (depending on which one we go to ) but here in NH/ME the water is way too cold for me to go in -but we go several times anyway -also since I have had melanoma surgery ( 6 yrs clear) i tend to stay under umbrella most of the time! Hope your lesson goes well. Beth - no to side saddle -trying or wanting! Watched most of the jumping yesterday on tape -still fuming over the American rider (can't remember his name) on the xc who's horse refused 3x -but I felt his fault -& then rider overly (IMHO) whipped/disipline. did anyone else see this & feel the same or am i just too soft? But great that Phillip Dutton took bronze.
Heading out to ride in a bit -then some errands to do -pick up posters for the art show in 10 days -new table cloths came yesterday -hope they fit better than the display pads (hehe)
Does anyone know if we can set font/size to default so you don't have to change them for every post? But like someone (Cathy?) said yesterday -like that you can scroll up to see all comments!
Waving to all - ride if you can -HAGD

Hi horse lovers, Had a wonderful time at the barrel races w/dgd Lead her around the barrels at a walk/trot and she loved it! She got a prize (all the buckaroos' did I got my workout jogging thru 8 inches of sand/dirt with cowboy boots on!! DGD is here till Sunday, so I think I'll give her another lesson on Lucy today. Lucy got pads under her shoes yesterday with some spongy material between her hoof and the pad. Seems to be working so far for her tender R front hoof. Wave to All!

Barb I think the default is set to 12 point. When the forum first started is was originally set at 10 point.
As to the american rider whipping his horse... His horse kept ducking to the left at several of the jumps. I don't know if there was something wrong with the bit (which is what I really think was the problem) or if the horse was having issues going to the right. Once or twice with the whip is acceptable to me if the horse was having an attitude problem but if the same problem keeps happening then you really have to look at equipment or something the rider is doing unconsciously.
Amy the ocean sound like a nice outing with your DDs. Hope you have a good lesson today.

Morning all! Quiet days over here in Oklahoma... we are supposed to get a nice drop in temps this weekend though! I don't know if I will get any riding in though- my DSD has a dental surgery thing today and we will have her this weekend- I expecting her to need a lot of comforting and attention.
QOTD- No and No (I don't really think it looks secure and I ride mostly with my seat and legs so don't get side saddle at all)... but our trail riders group had several ladies who would ride side saddle for expos. I don't think they rode it on the trail as well, but for parades and as an expo group. They all seemed to have with it. OT- I would love to get into driving though- just a small little buggy... my boy would be awesome at it too and our new neighborhood has a few miles of quiet streets. I just don't even know where to begin!

Hi, all! Faye, have a good day! Beth, yeah, I've never ridden side-saddle nor been interested. Barb, I also thought the discipline was a bit over the top. I understand the frustration (we've ALL been there) but on international TV? I just think the horse isn't right for x-country. Libby, glad the barrel racing went well and you got in your steps! WT, sorry about the dental sx for DSD...that is not fun. So...got out of going to India (thank you Libby, for offering to help out . Too expensive and I wouldn't get reimbursed. However, I am going to try for a weekend. The airline ticket I had last year is good through the end of October and I'm going to try to get up to the celtic festival in Ocean Shores (Libby, I'll be in the area!!!). Cathy

CATHY-hope you are glad you got out of the trip. BETH-hard to think of schools starting. we usually start after Labor Day. I know it's so you end early because of the heat. BARB-hope the cloths work. I agree about the Horse issue at the Olympics. I mean, it's up to the rider to support and guide the horse. AMY-enjoy Ocean city. I've been to Cape May ; I'm not a beach person. LIBBY-congrats to DGD on her prize. hope LUcy's shoe continues to work out.
I think the next equestrian event is Sunday.
raining and supposed to rain all week. Great harp lesson went for 1.5 hrs to make up last week. HAGD

I forgot to answer the QOTD: I sat in a side saddle at a horse expo and the nice woman explained how they work. They were having a "try side saddle" clinic at a hunt club not too far from me but I didn't want to spend the money on the clinic when I knew I wasn't going to get into it for a hobby. They were looking for more people for their side saddle club. It is very different and the way the saddle is designed you are more secure then you think. I was curious after watching side saddle competitions at the Harrisburg National Horse Show so just sitting in the saddle and talking with the woman was enough to satisfy my curiosity.
My computer is acting weird and I need to pack for the beach.
