Good morning all - recap first Today's goal - make small talk, but first I need to walk in the room! Today's activity - walk after work tonight Yesterday's s/a - good day. Chocolate after dinner - and no walk at work Yesterday's activity - hilly neighborhood walk with the pup Yesterday's menu B - yogurt, strawberries - waiting for the strawberries to go away. I wonder how much longer I'll get them? I think until the first rain. L - cobb salad D - slow roasted salmon, steamed cauliflower w/cheese sauce S - chocolate bar I had a good day yesterday. An ex-employee stopped by work - he was back in SF for a day, so was at the clubhouse because he knows we have free Wi-Fi and he could work there. A cousin's wedding, bla, bla, bla. This kid is one of my favorite's - he now works for the Tiger Woods Foundation as a golf tournament Operations Manager. Now living in "The Valley" in LA, with a new GF he brought from Boston. Sounds like that relationship is having issues though - a hard move for her from Boston. I ate lunch with him and was able to catch up a bit. Work was busy - I think I got the inventory guns charged enough - although one started making a noise, so we plugged it in again! The golf shop staff spent the day scanning the merchandise & I'll do my magic this morning and run variance reports for them to chase down the variances - fun, fun - for them. After I do this, I will head out - I'm going to a luncheon meeting - with the Accounting group for Golf clubs I am a member. I rarely go to these meetings - I've been to 2 in the 9 years I've been a member. Gosh, that is bad! They usually have a meeting or other event monthly. This meeting is at a swanky private golf club in Oakland - no jeans or cell phones allowed! OK - I'll silence the phone, but it will be in my purse! Our little secret. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'll go to lunch - listen to the presenter from the Franchise Tax board - the topic sales tax! And then scoot out! I want to come back to work and enter the corrections they found in the inventory and run the 2nd run of the variance reports. I hope to be out of Oakland by 2PM, before the big commute traffic starts. I find it hard to take the time off for these meetings - and I don't really like the networking aspect of them either. But I have to play the game every now & then. I'll fake it and it will be fine. I just hope they have a salad for lunch. I've tried to go to 2 other meetings over the years, and for one could never find the clubhouse - was lost and ended up circling the bay on the freeways. And the 4th I gave into my fears? and didn't go in the building - so it's a 50/50 chance I won't show up. So that is why getting in the door is a goal! And that is why it's amazing I showed up to Gatlinburg for that first meetup we had so many years ago - ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Have a great day all - remember to eat with HOPE and Dignity and be sure to MOVE! Good morning,
I'm leaving for a bike ride in Ojai, need to put the bike rack on the car which I've never done before. Will need DH's help there. A little anxious about it now, but will be fine once we get going. I tossed and turned all night, it was too warm and I kept having vivid dreams. Am up early with plenty of time if I don't fritter away the time!
Went on a hike yesterday morning, the views were spectacular. My foot gave me trouble, though. I should look into a new pair of hiking boots, the ones I have are quite old. Did homework helper in the afternoon, it was very busy. DH went golfing and shot one over par for nine holes. He is becoming so consistent! No one felt like cooking so we ordered a pizza to be delivered instead. That has become a pricey option, but hey, easy. We'll do better tonight.
Okay, off to do my yoga and get ready. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, girls. I'm ready for the weekend. This has been one rough week for me. I bring it on myself sometimes. Silly, silly!
Tonight we will go to the funeral visitation of the teenage grandson of the KC member. I hope to get out of the office early to be there at the beginning of the visitation. My aunt and uncle are coming up to go to dinner and talk about our trip out West next year. Should be a nice evening with them. I am hoping mom goes to dinner with us.
Tomorrow is super busy. 3 soccer games in the morning and an open house for Joe's great nephew before he leaves for basic training and then church and a Sportsmans Club family picnic. Whew!
Sunday is a 1pm soccer game for Owen and then dinner out with the neighbors. They've been wanting us to go to PF Changs with them for months. I've never eaten there before. I need to look at the menu online.
It will be Monday again before I know it.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Good morning, Café Friends,
Recap: Goal: start the next challenge with a better grip on my menu choices Today's Activity: walking A/S: Ate well, but late night snacking got me Menu: B - Coffee w/MCT oil, creatine and collagen, a few bites of turkey kielbasa L - spinach salad with feta cheese, chicken breast and kalamata olives, homemade lemon vinaigrette D - baked spinach turkey meatballs, scotch S - peanut butter pretzels (4) Yesterday's Activity: weights & walk Totals: 1,277 cals., 95gP, 27gC, 66gF, 3gS
I have a voice lesson today and then a short practice for the pickup quartet so we can sound lovely on Sunday night for this gentleman's birthday celebration. Not sure when Duff will get his long walk - probably this afternoon when I get home from my rehearsal. Maybe around 2:00. Schedules are going to be tight since I'm the only one who will be available to walk him. At least I will have a long weekend without him; otherwise I wouldn't be able to stay for the coaching on Sunday.
Tonight I'm going to try a new keto recipe that uses ground chicken for the crust in pizza. Everyone in my keto group on FB says it's delicious. Since it will have meat in the crust, I'll make it basically a margarita pizza with just tomatoes, mozzarella and fresh basil. Pizza is one of those things that I crave from time to time, but can't eat unless I do something about the crust. Here the crust is baked first until it's slightly crispy and then add the toppings and bake it more. I'll let you know how it turns out.
It's actually chilly in the house this morning. I had to put on my slippers to keep my feet from being cold. Maybe we're getting into the fall pattern. Weather Underground says it's 52° at the airport less than a mile away from us. Brrr! It should go up to 71° so still pleasant. Yesterday we had a fierce wind that kept me cool on my walk. I could have worn sleeves, but still wasn't that cold for me. You know, at home in cool Scottish weather...
I need to get going so I can go to the bank and get some money to pay for the PVI this morning and then stop off at the pharmacy to pick up my compounded thyroid pills. Such a PITA to have to go every month and get more. The pharmacy isn't close since it has to come from a compounding pharmacy. I think on Monday when she writes my script, I'll see if she'll make it for 3 mos. at a time. It's not covered by my insurance anyway so it shouldn't matter.
Have a wonderful day and weekend! Be safe if you're traveling! Eat mindfully and move! Keep your eye on the prize for the next challenge! 🏃♀️👟💪🏻

Shalom, Cafe Ladies, The Jewish New Year family dinner went really well. One of my lovely daughters in law hosted, but I prepared the food, so I had good control over what was in it. And I made it as healthy as a holiday meal can be, wheat flour in the matza balls, carrot casserole with brown rice, grilled chicken breast, Israeli salad, Skinny Banana Choc Chip muffins baked in the mini-cupcake tins. (here's the recipe) omgchocolatedesserts.com/skinny-banana-muffins-recipe/. The kids loved them! On Thursday, I, along with all the other once-a-year Jewish worshipers, went to synagogue. My DDiL is a member of a synagogue and invited me to attend with her and the kids. The rabbi's sermon was about how the Bible links us through a collection of shared stories and how important it is for us to share our own stories of who we are, what we value, how we live because through our stories, we share the humanity that links us, especially in these very divisive and unsettling times. He urged us to share our stories not only with our fellow Jews, but also with the greater community. I thought he made a very good point. Never in my lifetime, and certainly not in my parents and grandparents lifetimes, have I ever seen such an outreach, such unity between the Christian and Jewish communities in America. And yes, most of it comes from sharing our stories. I've seen Christian congregations celebrate Passover with traditional Jewish traditions. I've seen rabbis, priests and pastors march together for social justice. I've seen a Pope pray at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and address the Chief Rabbi of Israel as "elder brother". I've seen Jews tell the story of Christian heroes of the Holocaust like Oscar Schindler in the film Schindler's List. I've seen Christian organizations like CUFI form and speak up to assure Israel that they will not allow that tiny country to be wiped off the face of the earth. The Rabbi's sermon made me think of all those things that have come about in my lifetime that I'm privileged to witness. All good things, Frieda
