Good morning!
Faye, good luck on selling your harp - I hope you can come to an agreement. Those storms last night were LOUD; I was just praying we didn't lose power! We had a couple of close calls, but everything resumed after a couple of minutes, phew!

QOTD:
What are some of your favorite horse care/riding/etc. books?
I recently ordered Colin Vogel's "Complete Horse Care Manual" and am finding it to be very thorough and informative, especially as a person who has no real knowledge of the inner working of horses (they only take 8-16 breaths per minute, what! Fascinating!).
My my kids are even getting in on it - DD is flipping through it now as I type 😄

Good morning.
AOTD: I have several horse/vet books that I used all the time when I had mares and foals. The magazine Equus is very informative about all aspects of the horse.
Alison I'm so glad you kids are interested in horses. I have found that kids that get involved with horse related activities rarely get into "Trouble" and stay grounded in life.
Faye I hope the last harp sells.
Gotta run some errands in town. BBL

Morning all! I'm not sure what the name if the book is- I think it is from Practical Horseman though- and it is a very comprehensive veterinary guide for emergencies- big spiral bound thing with flow charts to help you determine what might be going on with horse and what you should do about it, when a vet needs to be called or what you need to watch for. Thankfully I have not needed it in awhile!! It is amazing, though, I am pretty squeamish about medical things- but when it comes to my horses I have done things that shock me. Very proud of the wounds I have treated or situations that I have been through. I can't handle talking about medical stuff, but in an actual emergency I'm pretty handy and I owe that to horses!
We're expecting a nice cold front to come through this weekend to bring temps down to the high 80's- hoping for a Sunday trail ride!

Alison I'm so glad you kids are interested in horses. I have found that kids that get involved with horse related activities rarely get into "Trouble" and stay grounded in life. SO very true!! Practical Horseman and Equus here. And countless dressage books - who's names I just don't recall right now. Hope your harp sells. I don't know the story, but I'm feeling sad you're selling it! I bought a Silver Lite 3 horse slant trailer Wednesday. I'm in love and shocked I own it. I'm not 100% ready to own a horse just yet, but was a deal I could not pass up. So in my driveway it sits for now. That's 1 step closer to my goal! Have a lovely Friday/weekend all! Enjoy your rides!

Dutchwife (by the way what is your name?) was this the one you were looking at before?

I go by "Dutch" here. This actually was NOT the trailer I asked about here. That was a nice trailer, for sure. The one I bought, was certainly my dream trailer!

Hi, all! Faye, good luck with the harp sale. So..I found out last night at my lesson that my teacher is moving to New Orleans in November. She said she'd help find another teacher, but kind of bummed that we just got started. Bleh... Dutch, so glad you found a trailer you like. So...do you HAVE a horse, or is that next on the list? Alison (and Faye), the storm sounds like a doozey! Glad all is OK. Beth, love the big yellow cheese reference! I can't wait for school to start...the neighborhood will quiet down a bit Hi to Barb and Libby and Amy! I did not get to walk yesterday. Work got annoying in the afternoon so had to stick around. Hope to get some exercise today...either swim or walk. Cathy

Harp was also a bit too big for her and she's about 5 inches taller than I am so that gives you an idea why i want to sell it. but sound is nice. she's so interesting so we had a fun time for about 3 hrs!! so harp is still here. it's ok, i do love it but it makes my shoulder hurt. When I had that 3 hr gig my right shoulder hurt for 3 days. My new one is "just right" . light enough to carry and the soundboard is wood and it's the right size. if I can't sell it by Nov. I'll post it on the Harp Column which is a harp forum. Busy practicing for a few gigs; 2 in Sept. and they are different and also working on my Winter show, learning some new tunes. and Nov is an ensemble show and I play the pedal harp for that --friends are coming a couple of times this month so we can practice the duets. I have some recorded so I play with headphones on but nothing is like playing with a person and listening to their tempo, going past mistakes made by either one, etc. have a good rest of the day. Yoga soon.

Oof, a too big harp sounds like it would be painful to play! Sorry the sale didn't work out; hopefully the right buyer will come along soon.
Thanks for all these book suggestions; I'm going to take notes and see if I can get my hands on some of them. The veterinary guide sounds especially interesting.
In other news, I'm jus happy that I figured out how to get my avatar to display correctly, instead of sideways (for now, at least)! I'm not quite sure what causes it to list every now and again...
Hope you all are staying cool!

first chance to stop by - everyone sounds busy -faye- does FB have a harp group? You might be able to sell it there? or does it have to be local due to shipping? (how would you ship one? ) Best book was a Sally Swift on Practical Dressage for backyard (or something like that - I "lent" it to a friend who subsequently "lost" it so i no longer own it) also a first aid book that sounds like the one that Alison has -keep it in the barn! We rode early again this morning -just walked a bit of trot as it was 85+ by 9 - just to get them out -will most likely do again tomorrow -then Dee (roomate/barn mate) leaves for a week to take DD to college & take DS on college tours. Farrier comes Tuesday (yea) Dutch -interesting to buy a trailer before the horse (putting the cart before the horse? LOL) good luck on your search.
Waving to all -hagn -
