I was over my limit yesterday. Plenty of mocha chip ice cream. Today's high will only be 68°! I'm finally going to wear a shirt with sleeves! Short sleeves, not long, yet. But still. Maybe autumn is beginning.
♨️ Kristen, wow, you ARE prepared for the entire neighborhood to show up--I'm sure they'll be excited about those full-size bars. Hats off to you for not being tempted. It would be dangerous for me to keep more than one peanut butter cup in the house. That stinks about your collapsed pumpkin. Congrats on your nice weigh-in this week! I hope you & J enjoy a delicious brunch at the Colonel Blackinton Inn today.
♨️ Roberta, I'm sorry that your face is feeling tight and itchy, but I'm glad that means it's healing. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center up in Huntsville is a Smithsonian affiliate; it has a massive collection of rockets, missiles, and space memorabilia, plus interactive exhibits. I hope you're finding good movies to entertain yourself, as you recover.
♨️ Nancy, It was still warm enough for me to be sleeveless while playing on Friday. Interestingly, all the men wear tee-shirts year-round, even when it's 97°, because there seems to be a general agreement that it's uncouth for men to wear tank tops. So, I get to see biceps bulging under sleeves. You're funny about the no-biceps man at your yoga class. ick. Happy birthday to your young granddaughter! I hope that dinner at Pietro's was delicious and that she enjoys her special party today.
♨️ Vicki, Hurray for your new kayak rack being a dream! I'm so happy to hear that it's so much easier for you to access the kayak at waist height. Your class does sound hard, so of course you were worn out afterwards on Friday. I hope the soreness in your upper back & ribs diminishes. I'm glad that the mechanic said he fixed Bubbles, though I understand why you'd be nervous to ride her. Be very careful, please! Shirtless men in yoga class? Do women take shirts off too? Yes, I've carved some pumpkins in my life. I even hostessed a pumpkin-carving party once. The library is having a contest for kids to carve pumpkins in the shape of book characters; it'll be fun to see those results.
♨️ Nina, I'm sorry that you had a crazy day of driving (and that E was grumpy) on Friday. I'm glad that hitting your PR's helps you from getting discouraged. I hope you had a good time watching your friend compete. You'll be competing again soon!
♨️ Those are responses to Friday. Hi Andrea, June, and Annette, who didn't write that day. I'll go back to read Saturday. Robin

Marking my spot. Per usual, I woke up early to pee. I went back to bed to lay down til around 615 then got up and did barre, so I'll only have 1 WO this afternoon, again. I'd rather do that than do barre and spin back to back. I feel more tired after that. Brunch is at 11, so I will spin later in the afternoon. I'll need at least a couple of hours to digest after a big meal. I plan on getting my old fave, "breakfast skillet." A total "fat ass" meal but so delicious! 2 eggs over corned beef hash and breakfast potatoes w cheese sauce. I won't need dinner, but might have some yogurt and fruit if I'm hungry tonight. Or just eat the other half of my cheesecake brownie. LOL I know, I know... A rainy this am, so we won't go for our walk. Maybe later after nap time. Hi to all. BBL.

Good Morning Petites
Today we have a wind advisory and it is chilly. The coloration around my eye is fading and I hope that the cuts heal more quickly, since they still look pretty ugly.
Robin, eating mocha chip ic sounds like a good way to spend your points yesterday. Hard to gauge your feelings about the weather cooling down. Do you welcome it or are you already missing the warm temps of summer? I had no idea Alabama had a big space presence, since it always seemed like Florida and Houston were the centers. That would be a fun trip from where you are, if you chose to go. There was a big article in the Times on Tabitha Isner, the Dem who is running for Congress in Dothan. Do you think she has a chance? The district was described as rural, which surprised me, since I thought of it as small college town, which, to me, is different. How would you describe the area?
Kristen, it is fun to see what you are indulging in these days. Enjoy brunch and your breakfast skillet. You are good to only eat half a brownie, and having the Death by Chocolate for so long shows that you are not a pig. None of those things would last in my house, which is why I don't bring them in.
Nancy, I hope I was not too blunt yesterday about dil. Divorce is so common, but many grandparents of divorce are still included in activities for the grandchildren, at least among the folks I know. You are an expert on divorce and see the worst of it, so you would be less surprised by what happens than we would. I hope Tueday's cat scan helps discover what G needs to feel more stable. I am glad he is not being macho, and is asking for help. Now that I've had my first cat scan, I know it is not painful or uncomfortable, at least in my experience. Hope you have a hike with tbs this morning and maybe a performance this afternoon. I also hope the b'day celebration at Pietro's was fun.
Nina, watching those videos is really inspiring. I can't believe these small women can lift the weights that they do. You are quite amazing to reach your prs, after the surgery, and I'm sure you'll be back in competition soon, and people will be watching you with the same WOW factor. I'm glad you got to cheer the folks on, then go out for the celebration afterward. You've had some good food, even if all of it was pointy.
Andrea, it is remarkable to me that the VRBO gets used as much as it does. Where do they find the people or how do the people find their home? The Vikings play the Jets today, and if the Jets live up/down? to their usual performances, there will be big expectations, some tease and then a heartbreaking loss. I was a Jets/Giants fan for years, but when Johnson bought the team, and was so vocal about Republican politics, I moved away from them. I do like Giants ownership and history better, but they are 1-5 this year, under the Vikings former offensive coordinator. Enjoy the game. I agree with your comment to Robin about people commenting on weight. I also think they should know that it is not a natural condition, but one that is worked hard on, through diet and exercise and that is difficult, since thin people love fattening food also, and if they didn't exercise some restraint, they too would be fat.
Quiet board yesterday. Hi to Vicki, June and Annette. Annette, I hope you let us know what is going on with you and Fred. We haven't heard from you for a few days. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy day. Roberta

I have been lounging in bed for the past 2 hours watching the football game played in England. I should get up soon. Today’s plan is to read the voter package.
Kristen-I am surprised you ate the treats. I can only imagine how delicious they are. Enjoy your brunch. Interesting your mom was upset when you revealed your first pg.
Roberta-I feel good that I can modify movements but I still miss being able to lift overhead with a barbell. If I can get close and that is my new normal I will have to accept the fact. I’m glad your eye is healing up.
Robin -It would depend on who made the comment, how well I know them. I get that too. sometimes I just say no it’s not easy . I think no matter what we say they can be easily offended. It’s like asking do these jeans make look fat?
Need to run. BBL.
My gf called who is going through a lot right now.
Vicki-I’m glad Maya is looking better and hope she can come home soon. Right now it is overcast, were you able to paddle today? I bet the check engine light is minor such as a loose gas cap. Have you recently fueled up?
Andrea-how are you fairing with reducing your gluten intake? Hopefully the VRBO is a quick clean up.
Nancy-how was DGD birthday dinner? I hope the dr visit for G can shed light on his balance.
I started reading the ballot measures, oh my. On another note, I saw E teachers yesterday at WI. I asked about the process for him to return to his regular HS. They said when it’s closer to the end of the semester we can check if the school has availability. His math tutor said he is done with geometry which leaves just the algebra. Even though he is a night owl, at least he completes his school work.
WI was 109 but I had on jeans so minus approximately 1/2#. I am halfway tempted to take a dexa scan which supposedly is a better measurement of body fat. But will wait a couple of months to do so. It will have then been a year since my dunk test.
Hi to ATF

Hi gals, yesterday I went to the fm, then to visit Maya, and finally to pick Bubbles up at the shop. On the way home from the bike shop, my car started running rough and the check engine light came on. Everything is breaking down That leaves me taking John’s van for a little paddle today, but I will borrow a boat so not have to load Murrelet. I will limp down to yoga Monday and from there limp down to the Subaru service center. My shoulders and back are sore from the kayak class. It was the multiple tries to get back into the boat that did it. Maya is finally looking better but going home is still at least several days away. Last night we went to TB's house for dinner--a delicious and healthy rockfish soup, a huge salad that I made and a lemon pudding cake that John made. Fortunately I was pretty full from dinner and didn't even finish one serving of pudding cake. Hope late which is why I never got to the board yesterday. Ok I started this last night so hopefully I’ve gotten the tenses changed. My gear is in the van and I have to leave soon. Nina, your Friday breakfast was fabulous. Your dinner was small just like what Roberta was reading the other day. LOL about the hairy guy on the motorcycle! One word: manscaping! Oh my, Saturdays thread requires more time than I have. I will bbl and talk to everyone later!

Robin-68 degrees sounds like a perfect day. Hope you get to enjoy it and aren't stuck inside doing work all day. Roberta-Glad the coloration around your eye is fading. Fingers crossed the cuts start healing up, too. I know you're probably anxious to get outside without needing to hide behind big glasses. Andrea-Welcome home! Hope the VRBO is easy to clean today. Vicki-Ugh, so sorry you need to take your car in for service. Sometimes, I'm happy I don't drive and don't need to deal w the maintenance of a car. Mmmm lemon pudding cakes sounds so good! I really love lemon desserts. Nina-Sounds like a fun day yesterday. Lounging in bed for 2 hours in the am-ahhh, I can dream. I know, I don't usually eat so many treats, but I can afford to now and I try not to feel guilty about it. I was thinking that I ate a lot more last wknd and didn't gain (but I also did a few extra WOs, so...) Nancy-Hope DGD enjoyed her birthday dinner and party. BTW-I can't believe she's 5. I remember when she was born! Hi to Annette, June and ATF. I just did a 60 min spin ride and hit a PR-yay! I'm watching the rest of the Pats game. They keep battling back. Fingers crossed. Brunch was delicious. I ate a little more than half as I didn't want to stuff myself, knowing I was going to WO a cpl hours later. Success! Dreading another work week, per usual. I think Wed will be a WFH day, at least and I'm taking a PTO day Fri. I have my Drs appt in the am, then I'll go to the lab at the hospital to get my blood work done for genetic testing (to see the risk of a chromosomal abnormality in the baby-that test will also show gender!). If I was just going to the Dr, I'd use it as a WFH day, but I will prob be awhile having to go for the blood work too, so easier to take the day off and not stress about work.

Hi again. I am so glad I went on the paddle. It was really foggy when I got there but after an hour on the water the sun came out and there was no wind at all. We did the usual out along the pelican rock wall and then around on the outside. On the outside about 1/2 way back the dolphin pod came out to play, (or hunt?), and we floated in place for at least ten minutes with them surfacing all around us. I’ve never been that close! I know I am eating too much because I just had a cup of “golden tea”, for breakfast and I paddled for hours and didn’t eat until 2pm. Robin, wow, I tried to come up with an answer to that woman who thinks you are thin with no effort and I couldn’t. You did the right thing holding your tongue. I was going to ask you if you ate before tennis. I am surprised that you can play for three hours with no food. The only reason I could go as long as I did today is because I’ve been overeating and have a couple of extra pounds of fat to draw on. The clasp hands behind and lift is usually done in a forward bend. I’ve seen people touch the floor with their clasped hands! It looks freaky. Kristen, you are certainly taking advantage of the Peloton. I hope J has acknowledged that it was a very good purchase. What on earth did Yoshi want at 4:30. Was he hungry? Roberta, isn’t it fun to watch the new crops come in with the seasons. I go a couple of new to me apples too but I don’t remember their names. I’ve got home grown winter squash coming out of my ears. It keeps me from eating grains or potatoes at dinner time which I hope will help me lose two pounds. You are right that bigger women are the ones who seem to think it’s Ok to comment on our weight. LOL at your not wanting an aging male partner at this point in life. I totally agree. If something happens to my relationship, there will only be the most casual and then I would only consider someone who is probably too attractive to want me. I gave up red meat for several years when I was too poor to afford it. When I ate it again I had a bit of trouble which didn’t last long! My body loves red meat. My hemoglobin runs on the low end of normal so I think it’s just what I need. Kayaking requires more skills in moving water, rivers with rapids and eddies, oceans and bays, (and big lakes), with currents and waves. Even the estuary can be treacherous when a tug boat or ferry makes a big wake. There are skills that save you from capsizing when a wave hits you, and there are skills you need to get back in the boat is you do. You also need to learn how to get into and out of a kayak from different kinds of launches, low docks, (easy), high docks , (not easy!), ramps, beaches which may have surf, etc. Also, no matter how still the water, you will go faster with less effort with a better stroke. Once again we had two newbies today. One was a canoeist and knew how to paddle. The other guy got left way behind, which was no problem because we all waited happily watching the dolphins. OMG at seniors being the largest group of shoplifters! John was gone for just one night. How nice to get a chunk of money just when you’ve planned a big expensive vacation Nancy, I do hope you get some answers from G’s cat scan Tuesday. He and Fred have similar mysterious issues. Kristen, it’s very kind of you to tell your mom first. She is so special, she deserves to be treated as such. My sore muscles are feeling like the good kind of sore now that I did a few hours of easy paddling. At first I wasn’t sure! Oh thanks for clarifying! I am really glad there are only 2 and not three needy guys, though it sounds like 2 are more than enough! I am amazed that you push yourself to exercise when the couch is calling. Sometimes I wish you’d be easier on yourself but I think thats the old lady in me kicking into mom mode. What ever possessed J to bring home so many desserts? You would _never_ look frumpy! Andrea, I am sorry your poor plants froze. It does seem very early for such cold weather, but I have only CA to compare it too. In the Sierras there can be snow in October. “I work hard at it” is a good answer to those who think we are lucky. Sigh, I know daily cocktails make me gain! At least I am back to small ones. Nina, I love Gotts! Where else can you get a good glass of wine at a drive in! That covers Saturday. Now to read today’s thread. I might not get back tonight.

Hi ladies,
Robin, I hope you were warm enough in your short sleeves. The renters left 2 unopened half gallons of cookies and cream ice cream and I thought of you. It’s not a flavor I love so I’ll be able to have a small taste and be satisfied. B will have no problem finishing all of it in the coming days. He has no willpower.
Roberta, most of the renters come from the Twin Cities area and are just looking for a getaway. It’s been a lot of extended families, couples with kids, couples without kids, and groups of women. The last group of 10 women worked on scrapbooks together while they were here. Right now the rest of October is open but if the weather is predicted to be nice on the weekend, it could get booked at the last minute. I’m glad you’re seeing improvement in your bruises and think it’s awesome that you received a retroactive check. Will it go towards your trip or something else, like a home improvement? It would be fun to get to decide.
Nina, lounging is well deserved for you. Going gluten free was surprisingly easy and along with taking a probiotic at night rather than in the morning,it has really helped my digestive issues. I’ve had small servings of gluten with no trouble so far too, so now I’m hoping I’ll just have to limit it rather than eliminate it forever. Boy did I learn that gluten free and low calorie are not the same thing! We found a delicious gluten free cinnamon chip bread at a bakery in WI that we all enjoyed. Yum!
Kristen, congratulations on your PR! I’m impressed with your continual improvements. Is the record based on calories burned or speed or some combination?
Vicki, you had 3 positives: Maya is improving, you have your bike back, and you had a wonderful paddle. Wow about the dolphins! What an amazing experience for you.
The VRBO was a typical clean, so i have no complaints although it could have been better. We had sunshine and 51 degrees so I went for a 3-mile walk which was lovely.
If anyone is looking for a good book, I read The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah and am almost done with Eleanor Oliphant is Fine by Gail Honeyman. He first one has a very serious tone while the second is much lighter and a quicker read. Both are worthwhile imo.

Hi Everyone --
John and I played reasonably well at the tournament on Friday, and Mary and I did fine Saturday afternoon. We were still getting used to each other in the morning. So, I got a few masterpoints for my efforts. I’ve crossed over 1500, which is a milestone. The next one is 2500, and that will take me a few years to get to.
Not too much else to report. I finished putting my summer clothes away, which is always a project. I’m playing with John tomorrow and Wednesday, Nancy on Thursday, and Mary (my partner from Saturday) again on Friday. I’m making my way through the “When Food is Comfort” book, and it is really resonating with me, but my inner child still seems to be in charge of my eating, and I’m having a hard time reining her in. I’ve been reading, but don’t have time for personals tonight.
Andrea, I loved “Eleanor Oliphant”!

Hello Petites. I did a weenie walk with one TB. We took a new trail, and discovered beautiful artwork that was part of the installation of a water pumping station. I’ll put photos on Insta. One TB do a fast walk up and run down per demands of her demanding pt. We met for coffee as usual, and finished going over the ballot. We are al Dems, and we all loathe the ytb, but we differ on things like housing bonds, rent control, etc. Last night’s birthday dinner was fun. Her birthday treat from Pietro’s was a slice of cheesecake with a birthday candle. We helped her eat it. Her older sisters had spumoni. I ate too much, so this morning I brought overnight oats to coffee, and skipped the usual tomato-basil croissant. I also skipped a coffee refill, and had the kombucha on tap, Moroccan mint and lemon. It was delicious, refreshing, and healthy. G and I went to see Colette this afternoon. We both enjoyed it. I had heard of Colette, but knew nothing about her.
Andrea, thanks for the books recommendations. I enjoyed The Nightingals, so I expect I would enjoy Kristin Hannah’s new book. (Or is it Kristen?). Glad the leftover ic did not call to you, and that B will happily finish it. Also glad that you can limit gluten, and don’t have to eliminate it.
Vicki, being in the midst of the dolphins must have been magical. I bought Splendour apples (from WA) at the co-op, a new variety to me. Very tasty. I love to try new varieties of applies.
Kristen, glad you will have some down time during the week. The chocolate cake and half brownie are all worthwhile treats. WTG with spacing out your workouts. Are you anxious about the genetic testing, or excited because your will learn the sex of the baby? Will. J go with you?
Nina, remember to vote NO on Prop 12. It is a sellout to the egg industry, and gives the poor hens less space than under existing law. Wow, 2 hours lounging in bed. I thought dexa scan was for bones, to screen for osteoporosis.
Roberta, don’t apologize for sounding harsh about DIL. I say far worse things about her to G, A, or to myself. Did you see Colette? Did I miss your review? We paid $11 for senior ticket at the only theatre in SD that shows so-called arthouse films.
Robin, I’m glad you can switch to short sleeves, and enjoyed Mocha chip ic. It was 50 this morning, and went up to 80. I have to dress in layers. Does the temp in Dothan vary much from night to day? When A worked for SAIC (big defense contractor), he used to travel to Huntsville, because SAIC had a big presence there.
Hi to Annette, June, and anyone I forgot.

Robin, Mocha chip ice cream is well worth while. You’ve maintained under 106, so no worries at all. LOL 68 is sweater weather for me! Funny about the guys always wearing sleeves. Same in cycling. Men in sleeveless jerseys are considered strange or clueless. In yoga class, the women always wear some kind of top though some are pretty skimpy. Maybe the hairy guy gets real hot under all that fur 😅 Too bad you are not close by to host a pumpkin carving. Kristen, eggs over corned beef hash would make me a happy camper! I’d skip the cheese sauce as superfluous. LOL I’d still need dinner. Roberta, I am so glad your bruising is already fading. You heal fast. Nina, is football in England played with a round ball or a pointy ball? I really need to read the voter stuff too! Do not lift overhead without full ROM! That would make a bad angle and a risk of another injury!! The check engine thing is not minor. Poor little car was running horribly! I notice that before the light came on! Why not take another dunk test? Accuracy is nice but comparing to where you were pre-injury requires you do the same test. Kristen, wow, another PR! You animal You’re right, needing a car is a series of responsibilities that can be a pain. In SF the bus was more than sufficient. I remember the feeling of Sunday nights Good idea of taking a full day for the tests on Friday. Andrea, OMG at all that ice cream! Of course I cannot eat cookies even if they are in ice cream so I’d be safe. LOL at the women getting away to scrapbook—an activity I do not understand. LOL, there _are_ definitely good gf treats. My gf bakery makes a killer carrot cake muffin with cream cheese frosting. Thanks for the book recommendations. June, WTG with making a master points milestone. LOL at trying to rein in your inner child. Little girls want what they want Nancy, how cool to discover unexpected artwork on your walk. It is good to talk to people who have the same values about the best way to meet our goals. It is unfortunately pointless to talk to those on the other side of the aisle. I’m glad the 5 yr old got to celebrate with your side of the family at Pietro’s. Thanks for the tip on prop 12. I haven’t read the text yet but I will be aware.

Time to get read for bed but wanted to pop in. Went to our friends for her eggplant farm lunch ( a one a year treat). good company and delicious food. I had 1/2 portion plus salad with no dressing. In the evening we went in to Cambridge so we could attend a Chamber music concert
Fred has had so many tests and the good news is that everthing is coming back negative. The bad news is that he still does not feel well. Have to figure out where we go from here.
Will tr to catch up with all tomorrow
Good night Annette
