Good morning.
For those of you who didn't read yesterdays thread at the end of the day, please do so now. Then we all need to input our thoughts on this.
Waiting........... (lol)
I got another message from Holand and this is what she said:
" Hey Squigg, I think I can do a sub board on Hobbies. It would be at the top of the main Hobbies page and you'd just need one more click to get in and then you could carry on with your daily exactly the same way! Would that work for you?" (quotations marks are mine)
We can let her add us a subgroup or we can do a weekly thread. If we do a weekly thread we can start the main weeks post with something like "Horse Lovers week of (and then type the date of that week (9/11-9/17))". Then each day with your first post we can say "good morning monday etc."
Or we can let Holand (who is the administrator of this forum) make us a sub group category.
The pros of the weekly post will be having all our posts in one thread. The cons will be several pages for the same thread. The pros of the subcategory will be we can continue as we have been. The cons will be having to do one more click for someone to find us.
What do you think? I can go either way the majority what to do.

Good morning Horse Lovers
Tracked yes,
Going with DD1 to her Irish Dance competition this morning. DD2 (her twin) is coming also. DD2 is a 31 consultant. I had signed up with her months ago to be a party hostess this month but that is not going to happen. I am going to put an order in with her at the competition during down time. I have some Christmas gifts I want to get. I might do an online party next month instead.

Good morning BETH-thanks for starting. I am fine either way but we need to realize we can't comment individually because we'd have to scroll to find those. I believe Holand said they deactivated the individual comments because hitting "NEW" only takes you to your last read. may actually be easier to do weekly; so I lean toward that. as it is now I have to scroll each time to see what people added to the other entries. just need to do what you do and use the QUOTE thing if answering direct questions. AMY-good luck to DD at the competition.
pulled back making the bed. good I had yoga. but not great. getting a massage today then making soup for DH who is ok but has a cold. harp show tomorrow. Luckily the harp is light.

Hi,
I'd be on board with a weekly thread. I agree, we should try to faze out the individual comments box and instead use the quote feature when replying directly to someone's post. I wouldn't want to miss any of the valuable advice by having it get lost in the thread!
Faye - Ouch on your back! I hope your massage sorts things out and that you have a great show tomorrow.
Amy - Good luck to your DD on her competition! What does a 31 consultant sell? Sorry DD2 won't be able to host a party.
My friend and I applied all the spakle yesterday to the dining room. About an hour and a half to complete the whole room. Not too bad. There were some MAJOR gouges where the molding had to be ripped off the ceiling - I'm hopeful the compound we used will let us get away with one application. Weekend off, then I'll be back at it on Monday to sand! I'll be wearing protective eyewear for.sure. since there's so much to sand (while standing directly under it, and having to continuously look up!).
I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday!

This is what Holand said yesterday: "The comment box will not go away, you'll still be able to use it, but if you click new you will at least get to where you last read and then you can scroll up or down a bit to look at the comments."
Either way we would still be able to use the comment box or use the quote function. The comment box is deactivated on the General Discussion board.
The new button would take you to where you last finished reading a post. It doesn't delete anything. You can then scroll back and forth to read anything you want.

Working around the little farm today lol 1.5 acres It's pleasant 72 degrees at the warmest today. Love the new security camera's I can see all the horses while I'm sitting here in the office writing you all. They are basking in the morning sun after a 45 degree evening. I'm thinking about no blankets this winter for Rosie and Lucy. DH always gets mad when I blanket them. They get so fuzzy They have a barn/stalls and 35' paddocks so they can go in and out when they want. It rarely gets below freezing here. So, my topic - to blanket or not?? What do you think?

LIBBY-never owned a horse but do you clip them? they clipped them at the barn so they really needed blankets. seems if they were on their own they wouldn't have blankets, just their "winter coat" but again, I have no idea. have a nice day humid here AMY-are you getting a mask or something that you won't breathe in all that dust? I suggest it. and of course, the goggles you'll be wearing. good luck with it. DUTCH-thinking of you and the filly. good luck . fill us in (sorry, forgot her name) CATHY-did you swim?
massage was good. she told me a few stretches to do. doing better. will just practice a bit and then take it easy. soup is up so at least dinner prep is done.
I vote weekly and try to do quotes. Want to start Monday? we'd have to let Barb know. I could fill her in when I see she's back and on FB. HAGD

Weekly is fine. Whoever starts the thread on Monday can start it as: Horse Lovers week of....
Then as each day comes we can post the day or date for the first post such as: 9/12 Good morning etc. That should be fine each day of that week.
I will message Holand and tell her our decision that we will start a weekly post starting on Monday.

It rarely gets below freezing here. So, my topic - to blanket or not?? What do you think? The topic of blankets will bring a lot of responses from horse people and it seems none are the same LOL but this is mine. If you leave your horse fuzzy she should be fine for the most part. There are a few exceptions. If the horse is old, or does not grow a very nice winter coat, some breeds don't do it so well or some horses may not grow a very heavy coat the first winter after being raised in FL or some other place that is warm all year. The horses have to have a turn out shelter as a means to block high wind or heavy rain. Very high wind and very heavy or long hours of rain are the two things that make their natural coat less effective but for the most part you can skip blankets if they have shelter. If the weather is going to be very bad overnight you can put a sheet (no fill)to block high wind and moisture. I would not put a blanket with fill because you do not want them to be too warm and sweat and then become cold. If your horse is ridden a lot in the winter then the winter coat can become a problem if she becomes very sweaty under the tack and on her neck etc. You have to spend the time to dry them before turning them back out. Some people who want an easier time cooing out in the colder months will do a "trace clip" leaving the legs and a lot of the horse fuzzy but clipping the places where the horse sweats a lot so they cool out easier. Very popular with foxhunters because their horses are working hard but at the same time out in the elements while doing it. There are a few different versions of the trace clip you can find on line. These horses benefit from a turnout sheet if the weather is very cold, wet or windy in addition to a turnout shelter. If your horse is in heavy work or showing all winter in Hunter/jumpers then they get a full body clip. If you do a full body clip then the blanketing "fun" begins. You have sheet, light, med, heavy blankets and in addition you can do attachable neck covers with fill or no fill. Many discussions about blankets and what to use will be had in the barn as everyone is checking their weather prediction apps. I found the Smartpak blanketing app to be extremely useful. It is free and you can put in your horses breed, age, living situation and if they are clipped or not etc. and it will give you daily blanketing info. based on the weather forecast for your area. I used the app all last year and it was very helpful. A great number of people let their horses grow a giant fuzzy coat and the horses are quite happy and need no blankets so it all comes down to what you want to do with your horse and what works best for you. Sorry it was such a long answer! Amy

Hi All, I do have some good news. My DD1 earned her final overall first place needed to move up into the top division of "Open Champion". It is quite an accomplishment and she has worked hard many years to achieve it and I am so happy for her.
Beth- this was an individual achievement, she also danced on teams over the early years and in High School but she is no longer dancing on a team. As a full time working adult she just doesn't have the time for teams.
It was a very good day with my daughters and I think I am starting to move on a little better from losing Rueben.
Faye- Have a great time performing tomorrow!
Hi to all Amy
