Good morning horse lovers.
QOTD-do you/did you feed your horse treats?
I rarely feed my horses here at my barn treats. One horse I had at a trainer's barn, the other customers brought carrots and fed all the horses there.

Morning - the temps dropped so we did a quick ride early this morning -bugs were tolerable! Treats -? carrots, candy cane/mints -she doesn't like apples (go figure) & some treats made by blue seal -can't remember the name! and no alfalfa cubes - my last horse choked on them so we stay away from them! Beth -did you get the order done & shipped? I'm busy as i have a 2 day show coming up in a few weeks -and have to move stuff around from the shops. Off to meet a friend for lunch - waving to all -HAGD

I like to give carrots or an apple as the last thing before I leave. I keep "Rounders" treats for horses in a tin in my locker in case the fresh treats are not available. I will share carrots with surrounding horses if the owners are OK with it. I do hand feed my current horse because he does not get pushy. My prior horse's treats went in his feed bucket.

I love to make these homemade treats for Sunny (and his friends)
Homemade horse treats: 1 1/4 c oats, 3/4c Molasses, 1/2c flour, 1/2c flax seed, 2tsp cornstarch, 1/4c water, 1 shredded apple or carrot, 12 peppermints to top. 350 oven, greased muffin tin, 15 min cook time, add mints!
The other good thing about them, is that I can pop out the mint, insert a pill (if needed) and pop the mint back on and VOILA ... Sunny munches up his meds with no problem!
