I stayed on track yesterday. Since I'm a sucker for seasonal products, I tried the limited batch salted caramel granola from Bear Naked (based in Solana Beach, California): whole grain oats, caramel bits, praline pecans, maple syrup...it's delicious but probably much too sugary for Vicki. Today I'll exercise as usual, then play 98° tennis, then work. 🤸‍♀️ Vicki, It stinks that you're still dealing with the mild vertigo. I asked you about that, and you had already written about it. Sorry, as usual, for being one day behind. I hope you can get rid of it. That was such a nice photo of you and Nina at lunch on Wednesday! I know you don't like to be photographed, so thanks for being a good sport. I hope you found at least one Nordstrom bra that wasn't too stiff. I'm envious of all the figs and apples you're getting from your yard. Yum, good call on eating some leftover caramel sauce with your apples. 🤸‍♀️ Roberta, I'm glad your yoga class was so great on Wednesday! BCBS has always given me adequate coverage; this is the first time a physician has had trouble convincing them to approve a treatment plan. I can see why they're reluctant to cover an experimental pill that costs $1000. I just hope they change their mind(s). I try not to complain, since it doesn't help, but this intestinal inflammation upsets me every single day. I still trust the gastroenterologist, but we are both stymied by this mystery. Yes, it's good that you meditated on being grateful for being healthy! 🤸‍♀️ June, I hope you get some useful feedback from the survey you sent out about potential classes. I'm so glad that your dad came through the ablation very well, but I'm sorry that he already went back into afib. At least he's feeling better than before. Yes, he has been under extreme duress! Your parents certainly both have a reason to complain. It's too bad that the first batch of local Winesap apples weren't up to par, but it's good that you have a few other tasty options. Our A&S dean talked about the Electoral College when he was a guest on the podcast. He thinks it should be abolished (and I happen to agree with him). 🤸‍♀️ Nina, I'm glad that you & Vicki had a nice outing at Gott's Roadside diner. It's nice that you found a pillow cover at Pottery Barn too. The bread you made with your neighbor's apple butter sounds delicious! 🤸‍♀️ Nancy, Thanks for checking in on Wednesday. I'm sorry you had to take your dog to the vet again, due to pancreatitis. I hope he's better now. 🤸‍♀️ Those are responses to Wednesday. Hi Andrea and Annette. I'll go back to read Thursday's posts. Robin

Hello,
With limited minutes, I need to be quick and have skimmed posts from last few days but have maybe missed some things. I’m doing well and having fun although being with the in-laws is certainly a different trip than with just Brian. The 2 stops in Canada were a bit disappointing to me because I expected more scenic views but I guess that’s my own fault for not reading enough before we came here. Yesterday was Bar Harbor and the weather was the best so far—lots of sun and 60s. B and I got off the boat several hours before his parents so we could walk all over and we did. It’s definitely a tourist town but we walked to the edge of town and circled around to see more neighborhoods etc. At 3 we all took a bus tour of Acadia National Park, which is gorgeous, but we only had about 10 minutes to get off the bus at the top of Cadillac Mountain because we needed to get back to board the ship. It ended up being just fine, though. Maine is very similar to MN, especially the North Shore of MN where I’ve hiked so much. The difference is the harbors—MN is Lake Superior and Maine is the Atlantic, which I know you all already know, lol.
I’m trying to focus on lots of fruit and vegetables for meals but I know I’ve gained weight even with all the walking. Last night I had a Black Forest cake that was the first dessert I’ve tried that was worth the points. I’ve mostly been taking a bite and leaving the rest.
We are in Portland now and will go ashore in a bit. We are going to the Portland Art Museum per a recommendation of friends of B’s parents. It’s cool and rainy now, so that’s a good choice.
I hope all is well.

Nancy-when I return to work I’ll probably do the Tabata class. Today I will walk with my gf around the reservoir. My CF coaches will certainly come up with modifications for me. I too hate machines and chair yoga. That’s what I told Dr. H if I was satisfied with chair yoga I wouldn’t have pushed for the surgery.
Robin-I caught the weather report for the SE region. Unprecedented for the heat wave. Have fun playing tennis.
Andrea-glad you are making the most of the cruise. Would it have been a cruise you would have enjoyed without the in-laws? The only time I was in Maine was with SIL but we only went to the outlets.
Gotta run. After dropping E at school, pick up Coco to meet gf at WF. We’ll buy food for our picnic after walking. Later today is PT.

Good Morning
I will go to yoga and get ready for tonight's playoff game against the Twins. Hopefully, we will win. Sorry Andrea. Our happiness is in opposition for this series.
Robin, enjoy hot tennis. I'm sorry you suffer daily from the stomach problem and am even sorrier that no cause has been found. What alternatives is the gastro dr recommending, other than wishing for the smart pill to be approved?
Nina, enjoy your time at the reservoir. Chair yoga is for the infirm and a wonderful modification if you are elderly and movement is difficult. You're not in that category, so I can understand why you don't want to do chair yoga. I take a yoga class at least 5 times a week, and in every class, with every teacher, modifications are offered to those with shoulder, knee and back problems. I hope your yoga teachers do the same. They also stress using props like blocks, padding and straps to help.
Nancy, glad you can just close your door and work at home. Two days a week at the office does not seem difficult. Are you telling me about non attendance at the EW event, because you couldn't go or because you didn't want to go? I fear for our election, with all that is coming out in the Ukraine scandal and now his publicly asking China to interfere in our election. He is a common ignorant mafia thug, who has been corrupt for his entire lifetime, and since he's always gotten away with it, he has no fear now.
Andrea, sorry the trip is disappointing. I have gone to Maine almost every year for over 35 years, since my favorite cousin lives there. Portland is great for food and has pretty lighthouses and a nice downtown. Acadia is spectacular. There are places in the state that are like from another world, Quoddy Head, for instance, the most eastern part of the US. I do hope you enjoy the rest of your stops and you get some good karma for agreeing to travel with your inlaws.
Hi to Vicki, June and Annette. I wrote after Vicki and June yesterday. Wishing everyone a petite eating day. Roberta

Hi Everyone --
Mary and I had a mediocre game yesterday, but still managed to come in second. We were better today, and managed to win, even though neither of us felt like we played all that well. Weak field. I met with the new treasures (who is the old president) of the SCORE chapter this morning before bridge, and I hope I’m pretty much done with that. I’ll still bve happy to answer questions, of course.
My dad didn’t think he was in afib today, which was good. We’ll just have to take it day by day. Not much planned for the weekend, which is good. I’ll do some cleaning and some yard work.
Roberta, it’s not the money for the haircut upkeep as much as the time, as it’s a hassle for me to get to the salon. I now have 19 responses to the survey, and the most popular topic (competitive bidding) is the one that will require the most work. I’ll probably wait and offer that one next year. I would like to do one of two before the end of this year, but we’ll just have to see.
Nina, your chocolate milk sounds delicious. I don’t mind the elliptical, as I can read and listen to music while I’m on it, but chair yoga would bore me to tears.
Nancy, good idea to go to the office a couple of times a week. It sounds like your home office will work out well too.
Robin, that granola sounds delicious. Thanks for explaining about the podcast. I also agree with abolishing the Electoral College.
Andrea, I’m glad you got to see so much of Bar Harbor without the in-laws and that you enjoyed the view at the top of Cadilac Mountain. There is so much opportunity to eat on a cruise that it’s hard to eat reasonable quantities. Hope you enjoyed the museum.
Hi to Vicki and Annette.

Hi all. Last night was another night of enjoying my book at 4 am. Then I went back to sleep and slept in til 7. I met sis for a walk supposedly at 10, but she was diverted by an accident and we did’t get started til 10:45. That was just enough time for a really nice 5 miles in Redwood Park before I had to run to go pick up Murrelet. It’s a good thing she has not sold since the seat for Gimlet is delayed. I am doing long bay paddle on Sunday. Breakfast was oatmeal and an egg and the last of my strawberries. Lunch was 6 hours later and boy was I hungry— sardines and crackers and leftover veggies from yesterday. I wish John could be more aware of what he buys at Costco. I would have known better than to buy skinless boneless sardines, just like I’d never buy boneless skinless chicken breasts. Coming from Costco, there are of course 5 more cans that I will give away.
Robin, I have bought Bear Naked granola before. You are right that I would not appreciate praline pecans. I adore pecans without adulterants. I am unsure about caramel bits. Probably too sticky for me. i like caramel sauce but not the chewy stuff. Sorry your heat is still hanging on. High around 70 here. I wish Dr House was real. In the TV show they always got the diagnosis on the third try. Hope everyone survived hot tennis without heat stroke.
Andrea, it sounds like the cruise is a bit of a mixed bag. Too bad the scenery in Canada was not what you expected. I’ve been to Bar Harbor and really enjoyed it. Too bad you didn’t have more time in Acadia NP. They have gravel roads all over the park and you can rent mountain bikes—way fun. Black forest cake sounds wonderful! I guess it’s too late for Maine blueberries. Hope the museum was great.
Nina, do you take the lower path around the reservoir? I’ve done that many times with sis and SIL when someone was injured. We do the upper trail for a real hike. I would have liked a picnic with sis today, but she had to run off and get some work done. How was PT?
Roberta, sorry I got your yoga teachers mixed up. Are you going to gym yoga or studio yoga? I know you prefer vinyasa. Are all your classes vinyasa?
June, glad you have passed the baton at SCORE. Congrats on good results in your games even if you didn’t feel you played exceptionally well. Does your dad have more energy now? How does he spend his days? I used to do elliptical intervals. I couldn’t read but I would get a good wo in 15 minutes. I did that when I had the circuit gym. It was years ago.
