Hi everyone,
Just popping in here quickly in between my painting adventures and errands...
Dutch - glad to hear you secured a farrier for Ally. I agree, make the future appointments when they come to do her feet - just like your 6 month check up at the dentist 😄
Amy - glad you're listening to your gut in terms of making a decision on Lukas. He sounds lovely. My lesson the other day was great - thank you for asking! I'm working on really keeping my position still at the canter, as well as getting smooth transitions into and out of the canter...I'd love to someday work on jumping, even if it's a little bitty course, but I am s-l-o-o-o-o-w to advance, it would seem 😕 But, my ability is still better leaning it slow than not doing it at all, ha! I have another lesson tomorrow I'm taking with a friend of mine, so it'll be good practice to solidify what I'm working on in my private lessons (I feel like I'm making a break through...hmm, maybe I should go knock on wood after typing that!😄)
Barb - your kugel recipe looks delicious! I hope you get all your prep done for the holiday
Faye - I hope your drive in to he city was successful (and uneventful!). Also hope you had a nice visit with your friend.
Cathy - ugh, I'm sorry about your watercolor class! What a drag. I hope you can find another one soon.
I finished the second coat of paint on the ceiling this afternoon, then shop-vacuumed all the spackle dust and wiped down the walls for Phase 3: painting the walls (FINALLY). I'm having a hard time being productive on this project along with all the other obligations in my life. But, slow and steady wins the race, I guess (ha! Just like my riding!😄) I'm painting the walls Asford Greige (Benjamin Moore). I can't WAIT to see the color up! But, now I have to prep dinner, get in my steps, and then teach, so it will *have* to wait until tomorrow!
have a great day, everyone!

Good afternoon. Went to Bible Study this morning. Then DH and I ran some errands in town. We just heard about the truck and trailer. It seems the light issue was on the truck side. They ended up re-wiring the truck to the plug. We will pick up the truck/trailer in the morning.

I'm very relieved this morning, the Police showed up in full force this morning at the homeless encampment behind my pasture! They cleared out all the people and are now going thru the process to clear out all the garbage. One of the police officers is the gal who Heidi (my boarder) is care leasing Roku (who lives at my house) from! Small world! They have found a lot of stolen property back there, she told me to go look and see if anything is ours. So, after 3 years of complaining about the noise, people, traffic and suspect drug dealings, it's actually getting cleared out!! Yeah!! HAGR everyone!!

Hi Horse Lovers,
First ride on Lukas went OK. He has a lot of potential but it is too early to tell if he will be mine. On the plus side his canter is super nice and he has a nice jump although I just did cross rails so far. I fit him, which if I didn't that would be a deal breaker. I had a case of nerves when I first got on but by the end of the lesson I was comfortable on him. I had trouble getting him to canter at first. He is not as easy as Rueben but my trainer says really no horse is, Rueben was special. By the end of the lesson I figured out his "go button" and picked up the canter both ways from the walk. He did spook just a little at the very beginning at something at the far end of the ring but it was just a sideways move that was not hard to stay on and he got over what ever it was very quickly. I did not get the flying lead change but I think that was nerves on my part. I spoke to the trainer afterwards and I am having another lesson on him Friday. Trainer is going to have him ridden out around the property at some point. I am riding him a little sooner then she would normally have shown an import to a buyer so she is not really finished with training him yet. They do things differently in Europe so he has some things to learn. So the bottom line is that Lukas is still a possibility. He is at the very tip top of my budget so I need to be sure. ( my trainer is waving her commission, I am so fortunate with that).
I have got to get some laundry done so I will be back in a little bit.

It always seems to be 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Good fundamentals are the base that everything is built on and people seem to want to rush onto the next thing. I take my time learning and I am not in a rush either. When I get my next horse I will probably go back to basics and get to know him with my winter trainer and then move on from there. I would recommend the book "How Good Riders get Good" by Denny Emmerson. I got a lot out of it. They cleared out all the people and are now going thru the process to clear out all the garbage I am so very happy for you. I don't know how you managed to sleep well at night. so, did they have any of your stuff? -Amy

Hi, all! Faye, glad all went well yesterday and you had a good time. Sometimes it's so fun to reconnect after so many years! At least I got more than one lesson from the harp teacher Amy, you are doing this all per your comfort zone and that is the best way. Kudos - again - to your trainer. She is really helping you along. Each horse is different and requires different 'buttons'. You'll sort it out and decide if Lukas is for you or not. Allison, congrats on getting closer to your painting goal! And yes, learn at your own rate, there is no right or wrong regarding that. I love repetition...it is my BEST friend! Dutch, glad Ally is doing well...sounds like she might need some work! Beth, you're keeping the truck though, just selling the trailer? Barb, hope you're riding in nice weather! Libby, so very happy for you...your life will be SO much better w/o the stress of the camp behind you. So the cat still has diarrhea even after 2 days of probiotics. So I'm stopping the antibiotics. The vet said 10 days should be good so we're at 9.5, close enough. She wouldn't even eat yesterday so it was time. Eating this morning fine. Visited the eye place again yesterday. Doc seemed nonplussed about why I was having issues. Then he pulled out the tray of fine tuned lenses (Faye will get this, I didn't) and measured my right eye with more precision. I needed another .25 change in my right eye so they are going to get the lens fixed. But I won't be going back; my last doc wouldn't have made this mistake. Hope to swim today; yesterday was 15 degrees cooler than Tuesday so hope it helps the fire fighting in our area. Cathy

HI all - BUsy day -Amy-glad you had a ride on Luka -and yes, take your time -give him time to adjust & you will do the right thing.
Libby - did't realize all that was going on behind your house - Yikes -glad that it seems to be getting resolved -what will they /can they do to avoid them settling in again?
Faye -it's funny how we can just pick up with a long lost friend like you saw them last week - that's a good thing! Will make my brisket tomorrow -picking up the glass next week.
DH went with me this monrning to bag shavings again -he offered so i took him up on it (with Dee working fill time & 3 kids it's hard for us to find a time during the week & on weekends we like to ride!) We did 2 loads in my car for a total of 17 bags today -making our "stash" up to about 50- we will do one more run and then we should be all set for the winter - last winter we stockpiled 65 bags & had them thru April - but it was a mild winter. The lumber yard usually charges (so they say) $2 a bag or $15 a truck load - they know our BM very well & only charge us $10 for the load of 17! Helps to know people in high places!
the weather turned out to be much nicer than they predicted so I rode after the shavings run -we did our longer route -about 5 miles. Beautiful day.
Going to pack up glass to take to the Art gallery for my art group -I am on display for Oct & Nov in there - putting 25 pieces.
Waving to the rest of the gang - HAGD - CBL

Hi everyone,
I am happy to report that paint coat one of Asford Greige is on our walls! On to coat two tomorrow 😊
Had a good lesson today, despite my horse being in a terrible, awful, no good mood. He really was in the foulest of tempers - swishing his tail, side-eyeing the other horse in the ring, feeling all "coiled up" underneath me, blah! He really gave me a run for my money today, but I was able to work through it, thankfully. I wonder if the colder weather we're having is getting to him - I don't think he had a sheet/blanket on overnight.
Cathy - I hope your kitty feels better! Antibiotics are so harsh - I bet she's a lot happier to be done with them. I think missing 1/2 a day's dose is no biggie, especially if it's causing diarrhea.
Thank you all for the kind words about my riding. It helps to know that it often isn't as linear of a process as I want it to be, and instead can have a lot of ups and downs. I've been taking lessons for about 4 1/2 years now, and sometimes I find myself getting very discouraged with myself over how (seemingly) little I've progressed; it's encouraging to hear from you more experienced riders that this is normal, so, thank you!
Have a great night, all!

ALLISON-glad it was a good lesson even with your horse in a mood. Hope he wakes up on the better side of the stall today. Congrats on the painting. DUTCH-glad you are enjoying Ally. BETH-hope all went well pickingup the truck/trailer.

HI Horse Lovers,
WI up one lb. but I switched my clothes to my fall/winter outfit so the jeans and shoes are probably heavier then the skirt and flip flops. I try to wear the same thing every week so I don't need to take my shoes off etc. to see how I am doing. I had a very mixed week again. I am trying to evaluate what I need to improve to actually lose some real weight. I think 3 things will need to be improved. drink more water, eat a little less carbs, exercise more. If I can do that while keeping the other things that I am doing well going I should be able to lose more.
Faye- I will say that social media is a great way to keep up with people. It is so nice to actually meet face to face now and then. I have moved a lot in my life and I sometimes wonder if I would have kept more friends though out it all if I had this type of social media to keep in touch. It is nice that I have made some new friends on this board that I won't lose by moving.
Cathy-any leads on a new harp teacher?
Going out to ride Lukas again at 11:00. The weather here is rainy and chilly but we do have an indoor ring. It will be rainy the next couple of days so good napping weather? or since I am trying harder it is good go to the gym weather.
I am going to set a water drinking goal so if I reach it I will write Water- yes at the top of posts.
Hi to all

Good morning. I talked to the person who is buying the trailer last night. We have agreed to meet about halfway to complete the sale. The approximate halfway mark is Grand Island NE. We will leave the house on the 15th and meet her and her DH on the 16th in the afternoon. It will be some long travel days with no site seeing. I think 3 things will need to be improved. drink more water, eat a little less carbs, exercise more Amy this is a good goal especially the less carb items. I am trying to eat less carbs but being at the 9 day show made it hard to do. Thank you all for the kind words about my riding. It helps to know that it often isn't as linear of a process as I want it to be, and instead can have a lot of ups and downs. Riding is like life. Some days everything just clicks and some days it doesn't. I've been in contact with the friend, we email and talk but I haven't seen her in that long. much more fun to go to lunch than email HAGE everyone That's the way I felt when I reconnected with my horse show friend several years ago. DH went with me this monrning to bag shavings again This is one of the few aspects of horse keeping I don't miss. I don't blame you for wanting another doctor. Ally is great... getting fat though! ha! oye... She's a growing girl LOL. They have found a lot of stolen property back there, she told me to go look and see if anything is ours. Did they have anything of yours?

Hi, all! Faye, yes, back to old eye doc. This one just did not impress me. You know how you sometimes just size someone up when you meet them? I did that with this doc, pretty much didn't like him from the start. Beth, I hope the long road trip makes the sale of the trailer worthwhile! Barb, glad you got in a ride today. I always wondered how many APs were in hauling shavings/cleaning boxes? Amy, good luck with the lesson today. One day at a time! I was really surprised when Libby posted how many carbs she was limited to. I did the carb thing on my lunch and carrots have LOTS of carbs!! And water...I need to do that too. Allison, congrats on getting one coat done! Have fun with the second! No word yet on a new harp teacher. I have another month or two so taking advantage of her as long as I can. It SO makes me mad at myself that I didn't start up with her last year when I could have Libby, I was interested as well in how they plan on keeping folks from settling behind you. Cat does seem better (I'm getting the evil eye from her as I type this...she's sitting on my desk waiting for attention). Didn't swim yesterday as work got crazy so hope to go today. Tomorrow the Open Studio starts so I will be helping my art teacher with her presentation tomorrow. Cathy

Hi,
Beth - good luck on the trailer. I'm glad you were able to reach a compromise of meeting half way, but I'm sorry it will still be a long drive.
Amy - your plan of lowering carbs and drinking more water sounds like a good one! Good luck with it. I hope you had a nice ride on Lukas today.
I just finished painting the second coat of the walls - oof! My arm is sore. I used the same roller from yesterday's paint job and it was super saturated and heavy - but, it's done. Next up will be painting the wainscoting and just touch ups on the ceiling where my roller got carried away😋 I'll be happy when all the ladder work is completed!
anyone have fun plans for the weekend? I know a few are celebrating the holiday beginning Sunday - I hope it's a good one!

ALLISON-congrats on the painting. give your arm a rest. you don't want to end up with rotator cuff issues.(I once had that when I had a room redone and i was overzealous with my mopping up--how glamours is that! LOL) CATHY-glad cat is better. Have fun helping your art teacher. and yes, I've walked in a place and wanted to turn around. hard to do that with a Dr. appt. but I totally have been there. How long til the glasses will be done? BETH-sorry such a long drive. AMY-1 lb is probably winter clothes. but I'm also watching carbs and back to tracking and looking and feeling better. I had a facial today and she asked if I drink lots of water because my skin was so hydrated ! so yes, water is the way to go. How was your lesson on Luka? I have a hot water machine going all day long and sometimes I do tea but mostly just the hot water. BARB-how many servings did that recipe make? if it was 16 servings it was 11 pts! It also did make a lot so I may use a similar recipe but doesn't have the ricotta. and it has less butter I think. But I have to boil noodles first. I may try it Sunday. Very sad about the train accident at Hoboken. Luckily everyone I know in that area was ok. just horrible. and it's a landmark building too. waving to all. Yoga later. Tracking past few days. Even tried to track my dinner for Sunday and it's doable if I go really low pts on breakfast and lunch. I mean, like 2-3 pts each. HAGD

HI-another busy day here - Faye-not sure how many servings -guess it would depend on how big a piece they take? My brisket is cooking as we speak -will slice it tomorrow & then cook some more on Sunday before serving.
Amy -good luck w/ your ride -good that you have the indoor to test him out -hope all goes well.
Allison -yes -riding is an "up & down" existence (no pun intended - or maybe so!) you will have a good day where you both click & then the next -not so much -just keep on plugging away.
Beth- glad you got it sold so quickly -the drive will be worth it to have it gone! Don't know how many points bagging shavings is -but it is a workout.
Dutch -working with a baby is challenging - more power to you - and of course good luck!
Cathy -any cat owner knows about the "evil eye" especially around feeding time! We currently have our "big" boy (20 lbs) on a restricted diet -low cal food & much less - he's not a happy camper - and i have to stay at the food bowls until the other cat (on regular food) is done so he doesn't get hers!
Had Upreach this morning - the client told me " i like working with you -you're fun" made me feel good!

Hi All, The ride on Lukas went really well today. I am going to ride him on my own either Saturday or Sunday just to see how that feels and then have a lesson outside on Wednesday if the weather allows. Then I should make a decision because if she is going to sell him she has to get him advertised pretty soon. He is a nice horse I am just trying to be sure.
