Good morning! I stayed up too late watching the convention (which I swore I wouldn't do). DH cooked us burgers and we ate on trays in front of the tv. I guess we're both political junkies. He seems to be adjusting to retirement so far and got a start on an organizing project yesterday. I'm sure Irene and Lucille are happy to have him home.
I have a quiet day at work which is good with lots of reading to do and a little bit of brain work, too. Next week, I'm conducting a two-hour telephone meeting with cohorts across the state and I need to get that organized.
Maybe yoga tonight.

Good morning all. The high heat and humidity have left us for a few days. I got a lot of errands done yesterday and have a couple more for today. We went to a concert last night at the band shell at our town beach. We had a great time. Picnic at the beach, full moon and fantastic music! Enjoy your quiet day Maryenne. Lynn

Morning, Maryenne, fairazz, moose, and seventh-decaders to follow.
Have a restful day, Maryenne.
Working from home sounds so nice, fairazz.
Glad your double-h weather is cooling off and drying out, moose.
I learned yesterday that I'm not nearly ready for retirement and am so glad my new job starts next week.
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone!
Maryenne, enjoy a quieter work day! Did you get your usual computer back??
Fairazz, I was a teacher and was never able to actually work from home other than writing lesson plans or grading papers.
Lynn, a concert and picnic on the beach sound wonderful and very relaxing. I'm jealous! Do you have to use bug spray??
Newf... Do you have your road trip planned to see about the new puppy??
Yesterday's lunch was fun and then last night I got an email from my best friend from college. She is back for an extended visit so we chose a date in two weeks to get together.....can't wait!!
Our school supply fund group has started buying supplies which is always fun!
Nothing planned for today so I am going to try to get another 10 lbs of blueberries to add to our freezer stash.
Happy Hump Day, Peg

Good morning all
I am enjoying the dry weather for the last 2 days. The pain in my hips is much less when it is not humid.
Today I have baroque ensemble and PT. I should get the shopping done for the synagogue lunch on Saturday, but that may have to wait until tomorrow.
Peg – I only have about 2 lbs of blueberries frozen. I may get some more while they are good.
I am trying to decide what course to take for the fall now that I don’t have to do tax courses any more. I am between taking a course on Zionism and trying to get some fluency in Hebrew.
Have a great day everyone.

I've now been retired for a year. In the beginning it was all about my DH's health and catching up on house things I hadn't been able to do while I was working. Some wise person told me not to commit to very much until the end of the first year ... to see where your heart leads you. And for me that is clearly music and church ... not library and information science where I worked in different capacities for the last 36 years. (Before that I was a school music teacher.) I miss going to conferences every month - usually as a guest speaker or teacher - but that's okay. I just want one or two big travel trips a year now.
Monday I went to a cooking class on Iranian food. Yesterday we went to our weekly OLLI class (one of the local university's life long learning courses) in Hitchcock's films. DH is taking a course in Existentialism. Today I'm going to lunch with a friend and then a church choir pool party & potluck for dinner. Tomorrow morning I'm having some friends over to learn about coffee roasting and brewing. Friday night is a monthly discussion & potluck group with an interesting speaker. And I'm reading, practicing, drawing and coloring when I'm not decluttering another area of the house.

I was trying to figure this new Proboard out and found this group. I love it. I turned 60 and am really over people asking me, most of whom I have never met, if I'm still working. I guess I look older than I thought!! I'm a school nurse so I have off all summer, and I teach nursing as an adjunct in a local university also. I'd LOVE to retire--my goal is 3 years--and would still teach and I'd work at the Y also to get that free membership! Hope it's OK I posted here. I wanted to post a picture but it keeps saying the "file is too big" when I pick one out and go to post it. I am technologically an idiot
