Morning
Yesterday was like 100 for groceries. And 25 for dinner
Today is a list of stuff
I guess do to the lack of dock workers for when stuff is shpped from overseas is why no motor for the boat. I am guessing also a shortage for other stuff. The Salesman said they get boats with motors, without motors or just motors in. Times are weird

Morning Ners and ATF š
Ners, hope the motor comes in soon so you can use the new boat!
Jels, you don't need a boat. BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand. š
Chugging water so hopefully they can get a pint out of me today. The blood bank keeps bombarding me with emails begging for my precious O-. If they had better vampires, they would have gotten a pint in March!
DH just wants to do a pool day today. Hoping the storms hold off until late tomorrow so we can do the car cruise.

Yesterday was $6.55 at Subway.
I'm not really understanding this supposed worker shortage we have. Where did the workers go? Are they just deciding not to work? How do you support yourself without working? Color me confused. š

squid, between extended unemployment benefits, the extra $600/week unemployment from the Feds, and most states suspending the work search requirement for unemployment, yes they are supporting themselves without working. Which is why many states have stopped allowing the extra federal money.

TN is one of the states that's suspended the extra benefits. All over the place there are help wanted signs. The businesses around the airport have signs and banners advertising $20 an hour to start. Unheard of.

Here too. One local chain restaurant was offering a $1500 signing bonus for new hires.

Good morning hotties. That stinks about your boat Hotness77. Boat season might be over by the time you get it. squid every help wanted sign around here has a signing bonus on it. Most of the locally owned restaurants are closed 3 days per week due to the worker shortage. In addition to some people making more money not working than working I think part of it is that a lot of two worker households have realized they can get by on one income. There was a poll done that showed 39% of people working from home would quit if they were told to come back into the office. I'd probably be one of the 39%. I'm going to see my mom today and to a concert tonight. I haven't been to the grocery store in two weeks so I need to squeeze that in some time this weekend.

People don't show up to work either. It is so bad My place has a point system but they won't point anybody out because they can't hire anybody. We had 4 people quit because they got their income tax back plus the stimulus money. What the hell A lot of people work just enough to pay their bills and that's it it is so crazy
Due to the lack of communication with the salesman And the run around I've gotten the last 2 months on our boat if it's not in our lift by the 4th of July we are cancelling the order. The plan is to negotiate to where they're going to give us a 2022 for the same price in our lift by the 1st week end in May next year. Hello we ordered the boat the beginning of February and I had to call the 1st week in May to get an update what the hell It even got to the point where I'd called the manufacturer themselves to even get an answer on anything and I at further with them than I did the sales people sales people

Morning! Yesterday was a no spender. Today should be, too. Iām trying to talk myself into trimming the shrubs but Iād rather just take a nap. I;ve been so tired lately.
I also donāt understand the people that donāt work. But theyāve learned how to work the system so I guess it works for them.

tootles, the little meat & 3 in my neighborhood reopened for dining in at lunch, but then had to close because the owner couldn't count on workers showing up. Very disappointing, because I was counting on them for some variety in my diet since I can't drive. I wonder if the people not working understand that long term this may work against them. You have to account for gaps in your work history (at least you used to have to do that). No one seems to have any "hustle" anymore. It's definitely a different attitude about work. One of my sisters is the manager of a wine and beer bar at a grocery store, and is always short workers. She was telling me one of the grocery stockers approached her about working at the bar. But the lady won't work past 7 (the bar closes at 8 pm) and won't work weekends. My sister decided she's more trouble than she's worth, because my sister would still have to close every night and work weekends.

That's crazy squid, Now is the time to make extra money. With everything getting so expensive so quickly people need an emergency fund now more than ever. I'm at moms making my grocery list. I'm going to Meijer since it's close. My budget is $200 since it's been so long since I've been to the grocery store for a full trip. I said 2 weeks earlier but it's actually 3. I hope the ad is good.

My list is made. Here is what I noticed about prices.
I always buy Porterhouse T-bones when they are on sale for $6.79/lb at Meijer. Today Porterhouse T-bones are on sale for $11.99 per lb.
Everything that is on sale for 2 for $3 or 3 for $5 etc has "must buy 2" or "must buy 3" by it. Normally if you buy one you get the reduced price but now it says single items are regular price. I don't need 3 bags of Kettle chips but I will buy them because I refuse to pay full price for anything. I need to put the extra under lock and key. Snacks are the one thing I don't really stockpile because I will usually eat them all in one week.
List total is $168 which leaves me $32 for surprise deals that aren't in the ad. I've noticed that a lot lately at Kroger so maybe it will be the same at Meijer.

Good Morning Hots: Scarlett, late Happy 40th B-Day!! Ann, glad your knee wasn't worse (like surgery on a tear). Yesterday was a good lunch (soup & salad)($8. + tip) followed by a chocolate making class ($18 included what we made not what we ate...). Can't imagine how much fun these women can get into! In true Lucy fashion I had so much messy chocolate on my gloves that you could barely read the signature on my sticky notes labeling my stuff. Long walk to place and longer walk with the babies to offset the chocolate. Today has been a longer walk with them too, so progress on stupid back! Mt.Laundry is the theme of the day. So, no spender if nothing changes--LOL ION heard from CPA yesterday. Owe $800 instead of $6K to IRS (plus $550 for him). Squid, around here it is because they make too much not working... Tootles, fun night! Ners, sorry about taking so long to get the boat and motor. A friend just looked at furniture and they told her 24 MONTHS wait.

Dock workers in what country is important too - just because the US is 50% vaccinated doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't completely in the throes of the pandemic still.
Especially India and Brazil. Like horrifying death tolls each day bad.

I canāt imagine buying something and waiting 24 months for it! Iām an āinstant gratificationākind of person. I find it odd that employers in all lines of work are short-handed. That unemployment benefit seems to have had the opposite effect on the economy. People had more money to spend, but no place to spend it.

Hotties! Not fair! I was going to say I had lost another couple of pounds. But, NOOO, they came back this morning. It's just so hard. A couple of glasses of wine. Really? It's so defeating. FYI! I called yesterday about getting prescriptions. It was too early for a couple of them per my insurance. I was told I could get them using Good RX. And It's much cheaper than my insurance. I'm going to watch this next time around and maybe save some money going forward, too. DH brought us Subways yesterday, $13. Along with groceries, $20. That's a guess. I didn't see all he got. Two lettuce, milk and probably frozen strawberries. One of the refrigerators in the garage quit. GOOD. We have never needed two, but they were both given to us. We had the fire department called on us last night. DH started a nice little fire in the fire pot. It smoked quite a bit. One of our neighbors went goofy and called the fire department. I saw all the lights from the truck as it went by. You could see it going slowly around the neighborhood. Dh went out and flagged them down so they could see it was nothing. You can't see into our backyard from the street at all. It was no big deal, but geese people, it's a fire pit and legal. Hotness77,"We had 4 people quit because they got their income tax back plus the stimulus money." My dad used to talk about workers like that. They would come back after a few weeks looking for work again. My FIL actually hired two crews. They would work and disappear so bad he had a full two crews that would rotate in and out of work. No all of them all the time, but it was bad enough to need extras. tootles, I hate that about the Kroger ads. I'll go without instead. And those deals must buy 10 of this group. Just too much for us.

Iām waiting line to check out. Ners I got that chicken deal.
This was such an odd trip. Being forced to buy multiples of everything to get the sale price threw me for a loop. I have 5 bottles of ketchup in my cart because it was 5 for 5. Iāll use them all long before they expire but still. I didnāt need 5.
There were no small bags of sugar at all. Only giant packs.

Afternoon ladies.
Tootles, sorry about the sucky sales ad.
I was able to give the full pint this time! The lady who stuck me was older by 20 years than the young girl who wouldn't use the side vein last time.
Ran into DG and NONE of the stuff in their email that was on clearance was actually in my store. The had protein shakes, bars, Quaker rice cakes, etc and not a one in the store. Even the Hefty tall kitchen bags that were supposed to be marked down to clearance weren't.
Spent $29 there anyway even after the $5 coupon since we all needed deodorant and DS needed cereal and his ice cream š¦ that he likes. And I needed trash bags whether they were on clearance or not.
DH slept in today and we haven't made it to the pool yet. š

I'm finally back home. I spent $222. Only $22 over budget which isn't terrible since I haven't gone on a real grocery trip in weeks and had to buy multiples of nearly everything. They had Elijah Craig small batch on sale for $55 so I bought a big bottle of that for DH. It's his favorite "go to bourbon" because it is always available except today they were out of small bottles. I didn't include that in the grocery balance.

Gyps sorry you wasted a trip to DG. Ours is hit and miss on sale items too. Hotness77 , Mine isn't under construction. I hope they don't change it. I can get in and out pretty quickly because I know where everything is. I can make my grocery list in the order of the aisles.

Everything is organized and I've made an executive decision.
I'm not allowed to buy fresh meat or get into the basement meat freezer until I cook the meat that is currently in my kitchen freezer. All of it. Meal planning tomorrow will be fun.
In the next few weeks my meals will include the following meat. Roast Whole turkey breast Pork tenderloin 6 hamburger patties 2 Angus cubed steaks 1.5 lbs. of raw diced chicken for stir fry

Tootles, Iām jealous of your shopping and organizing. I seriously need to restock on chicken breasts and a roast or two, but I donāt feel like doing all the trimming and freezing in individual freezer bags. Iāve just been so lazy lately. Normally I would look forward to the feeling of satisfaction I get from having everything stocked and ready.
