So Becca moved us into our own catagory. This forum just keeps expanding and expanding which is great.
Now to get more people to post here. I know there are a lot of people who love/like horses but just lurk.
Okay all you lurkers. Come out of hiding! We need you.
So the QOTD is-if you collected model horses, which one/s was/were your favorite and why?
Mine were a set of Tennessee Walking Horses. It had a palomino stallion, and a bay mare and foal. Both stallion and mare had the set tails. Little did I know then that set tails were not natural. All I knew then of TWHs was what I had seen in pictures. Later in life when I started showing gaited horses I found out that the tendons in the tails are cut and then the tail is put into a tail set brace and it is left on the horse 24/7 unless it is bathed or a show tailset is put on. I showed Racking Horses which don't show with set tails.

squiggle37 Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm sure I'll mostly lurk... ha I had model horses as a kid. I think the Jumper was my favorite. Maybe a foal. Back then, for me it was anything horse.

Hey, Beth, I had those Bayer models. There was one with the set tail just like you mentioned. I didn't know they were surgically set as well when I was that young. But there was way more naivete than that w/regards to horses! What's really scary is that I probably remember all the names I gave my little horses...Shorty, Goldenrod, Needles. I think the favorite was "Big Red" a thoroughbred. I broke it's leg and had to buy a new one Cathy

Hi
I had some china figurine horses. I loved them and carefully dusted them. I still have them on display in my house. I did not have any plastic horses although I am sure I would have loved them if I did. I was part of a non-horsey family so I didn't know the model horses existed.
Went out and rode my horse Rueben again today. The best part of my staycation is going to the barn every day. Although I guess for Rueben it is the opposite of a vacation. LOL he is usually only ridden 3 times a week. He loves the grooming and attention and carrots though so it's all good.
I am not showing on Sunday, it is going to be 98 degrees and humid, just not worth it. Our division usually shows right at the hottest point of the day as it is. There will be more shows that I can go to in the next few months.

I'm like you now and say it's not worth it.

Oh how I loved my Breyer horses ... I eventually gave them all away and regret it to this day. I've started sending my niece Grace a Breyer for each birthday/Christmas so hopefully she'll love them as much as I did.
I ordered a used Breyer on ebay as a Christmas gift for a friend's daughter. It was a replica of the first one I ever had. I almost didn't want to give it away ... I should probably get one for myself!

Took me a while to find this today - now I know! I had bryers as well - made stalls out of index cards, shavings from TP & halters from dental floss! Amy - smart move to not show -your not chasing points just having fun and that would be fun for neither of yoU! Today after Upreach (my volunteer therapeutic riding gig) DH & went to the beach (an hour away) first had lobsta rolls then relaxed for a few hours then home. Tomorrow, Sat & Sun all supposed to be 90+ so not sure if I will ride.

Hello! This seems to be my kind of group. I loved horses ever since I did my first pony ride, I think. Now it's still strong. Plus as an added bonus, I'm a Horse in the Chinese Zodiac. I never had a model horse, except for one American Girl horse that I didn't take care of, and about three or so Barbie brand horses. Let's just say that I was a very destructive child when it came to my toys. Now though, I would definitely collect Bryer horses. My favorite would probably be the Limited Edition Misty of Chincoteague model. I loved that book so much. HAGD!

Welcome run3rgirl. Glad you could join us. We all have stories to tell and things to share. I don't have any horses right now but I still love them. With the big move from WW, it's a big shuffle as we learn about each other. Most of us still have pounds to lose. Come post again.
