Greetings!
I am NOT ready for class nor the ECG screenings today. I didn't want to stay on campus after 5pm yesterday so I will be going in very early this morning to get everything done. I was wide awake at 1:30am thanks to my brain looping through all that needs to be done. Sometimes a list just doesn't help knock my brain out of the endless loop.
I will be so glad when these screenings are done as they are so much work pre- and post-event. We have another one next Friday but I don't think there will be as many athletes since it is homecoming week.
Not sure what I'm doing this weekend other than class prep. It is the quarterly electronics and textile recycling event for our village tomorrow so I have a few things to drop off. I have worked every single day this month and it is getting really old. Won't get a day off until 10/5 when I volunteer up in Wisconsin.
ETA: I have my flu/Covid booster scheduled for 9/30. Too many of my students have been getting sick. Stuff is going around. Hope I can dodge it.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
This week did not go as planned: I’ve been sick as a dog. Bossman’s wife had it last week, so BAM! On Sunday thru Tuesday I thought I was just super tired, then on Wednesday it really hit — nausea, achey, etc. I felt much better yesterday morning and went to work, then around noon started feeling awful and feverish. I was sitting there talking to Bossman’s Wife and she said she could see me wilting before her eyes. I came home and slept the rest of the day. I had planned to take today off, but I’m going to work from home. Hopefully I didn’t infect everyone at work.
There will be no pie class for me tomorrow. I found a woodworking class for next Saturday, so that’s something to look forward to.
Have a great day!

Sending Friday mojo out there to everyone, since I posted so late yesterday. I hate those dark of the night loops and committee meetings, Regina. I hope it goes smoothly today.

Good Morning Ladies: I had a bit of an upset stomach yesterday and decided to call off my pricey dinner. Too afraid to be away from a bathroom. I wasn't sick until early afternoon so I did have lunch with my friends. Maybe that caused it....or not. Today will be housework.

Good morning!
DS1 did not pass the bar again. I don't know what will happen next. He seems ok about it, sad and disappointed, but not devastated.
That news made the music last night hard to enjoy, but it was good to have a diversion.
I hope you all have a great day.

Greetings!
I'm dragging this morning. I was on campus from 6:15am to 5:30pm yesterday. I have no idea how many athletes we did since my co-worker and I were too tired after we got the last athlete done at 5pm to organize and count up the ECGs. We just put away the equipment that was out in the hallway and left. I'll sort through the papers today. No surprise that a lot of the male athletes didn't show up *rolls eyes* But we had a fabulous graduate assistant from the athletic training department that was calling and texting the no shows. Super organized young woman. Probably the best one we have ever had. She will be with us again next Friday for the last session of this season. We also had some really good volunteers that have experience in clinical settings doing ECGs so that made things go smoother. A couple problems with equipment but nothing we couldn't resolve by swapping out ECG wire sets.
I have some errands to do this morning and then will head to campus. Exam on Monday for medical terminology, practical exam on Wednesday for the anatomy students, and I need to put together a study guide. Heaven forbid that they should just go back through and look at the slides and worksheets we have been doing the past 4 weeks ///
4 weeks down, 12 to go. The semester is 25% done.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Busy all damn day yesterday with housework. This evening 2 hatters are coming over for us to have dinner. Then, we will work on pics for our photo album. It is a great way to share all of our experiences with the new and old members.

Howdy!
I slept most of the day yesterday and feel a little better today. Gonna do some woodwork puttering. It’s supposed to be 100° here today, so I need to get out there early before it gets miserable.
Have a great day!

Greetings!
I was not motivated to do much of anything yesterday but still slogged through my errands: drop off the recycling, laundromat, bank, library, grocery store. I also got some movement in at the fitness center. Once I got to campus, I got the ECGs organized (we did 87 athletes), responded to a bunch of emails and did a couple of other small tasks.
Today I'm going to walk at the arboretum before the rain moves in. Then I have to get ready for my classes. I'm giving an exam in the one class so need to get all the copies made. I'll put together something for the A&P students in terms of a study guide and then we will go back over some of Friday's material as I know it got rushed at the end since I had to get to the ECG screenings. I'll wrap up with a trip to Trader Joe's as the freeze is bare and I need food to take to work.
Have a great day!

Morning.
*sprays thread with disinfectant*
Got out for a run with G & YF Thursday afternoon and Friday with just YF. We were going to do a fundraiser the next town over on Saturday but skipped it. YF has a lot of parishioners in hospital and needed to go visit them. So I slept Saturday away. I needed it.
But I also needed to get stuff done. And I didn't do much of anything about that. It will wait.
Holy hot flashes, Batman. I put a blanket on my legs last night and then 10 min later I flip it off. Lather rinse repeat. I am dying just sitting and moved a small fan into the bedroom. Meanwhile I heard MG mumble about hanging meat in the house. I should probably check to see if there isn't medication for this.

Hi, Went to the Fan Fest at about 6:45am, waited in line for about 15 mins to get in. Sadly the woman in front of me was drenched in Michael Kors perfume, so I was on the inhaler right away. I walked around, got some free Newcastle swag, said hi to a couple of folks, and left to go to the pub. They had moved our viewing screen out of the shade, and the beer lines were crazy. Too people-y for me. They had a record 9000+ fans go through the gates. On the way to the bus I walked partway around South Pond. Even without my binocs I saw the rare American Bittern that's been hanging around on the way south, a Kingfisher flying by, a Kestral, and 2 GBHs. I felt cleansed. Sadly, Newcastle had their first loss of the season yesterday. 😢 Hoping the forecasted rainstorms come through today!! ETA: gadgetgirlil I never understood the whole 'is this on the test' mentality. If it's something you fundamentally need to know in your course of study, than learn it, ffs. Everyone wants to be spoon fed these days.

Hello Finally!! Computer has been off line all day. I had a massive long nap (special thanks to the muscle relaxer I took for my neck). It rained hard while I was sleeping and I never heard it. We didn't have our album work last night, so here I sit with a clean house....what a waste. Yay for Fall beginning tho Floridians don't really notice....

Happy Sunday!
We had a blast at the festival and spending time with our friend. I am happy to be home with my pups and cats.
I have been so swamped at work and with festivals. I will be so glad to finish these meetings this week and actually relax.
See you in the morning!

Howdy!
I laid around all weekend. I’m feeling much better.
This week will be a blur of activity, but at least the weather is supposed to cool down into the 80s. Yay Fall!
Have a great day!

Greetings!
We finally got some rain yesterday! I could almost hear the plants and trees breathing a sigh of relief as I was walking on the trails at the arboretum yesterday morning. The rain kept the crowds away too. I only saw one other person walking the trails and just a couple of runners and cyclists. It was a very pleasant 4.9 miles.
I got to Trader Joe's after my class prep so I have food to eat for this work week.
There is no rest and recovery on my weekends, at least for the time being. Retirement can't come soon enough, but I'll settle for the long Thanksgiving break. However, that is still 9 weeks away. Ugh.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
Last week was the long days of writing IEPs. This week is the long week of IEP meetings. I still have the RoR to write, plus I messed up not getting OT involved in an IEP and will have to do an addendum as soon as the IEP meeting is held.
My little Mia has some kind of skin infection. We have battled the fleas from hell all summer, and I fear they are back on her. She seems to be the only one that cannot get them off of. That's concerning, since she is the only indoor only cat I have. I have treated her with meds and the furniture, and everything soft, with diatomaceous earth. I am at a loss of what else to do. Hopefully the vet will have some ideas.
I was supposed to start my rooster comb shots again today, but I have way too much to do to take off work to do them. I had to reschedule and the first available was not until October 17. That is actually perfect, since I have a lot going on between now and then and wasn't sure if I could make three weeks in a row work. My knees are really sore from two busy weekends, but they held up pretty well.
I did a horrible job of tracking over the weekend, but I didn't have good internet and was really having too much fun to care.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Afternoon all: The ladies wound up coming yesterday afternoon....not sure how I screwed it up or they were telling me too many things--best to blame them tho since they can't defend themselves here. We had a great dinner out at Toojays (split a brisket cheese dip and fries (and I still only ate half of mine). Worked until very late. Started back this am and then went shopping to a going out of business. Then Chicken Terrayki bowl of which I ate 1/4th. Lots of stocking stuff and Christmas drawing gifts purchased. Neck is still hurting. pffttt.

Howdy!
Yesterday seemed like one very long meeting. It was good, but I need some non-meeting time to do some work. Our new-ish (as of a couple of months ago) HR manager is doing such a good job. She was a good hire. Yay!
I’m thinking about trying to find a violin lesson on the weekends. Fingers crossed. I come home every night and do nothing. I know I could practice without having a lesson to practice for, but I don’t because laziness, couch, snuggly pup, etc.
Have a great day!

Greetings! I ended up moving up my appointment for my vaccinations to yesterday from next week as the dean scheduled a meeting that conflicted. The dean, department chair and I are meeting about posting the job ad to fill my position. The old job ad used in 2020 was written specifically so that I was the only eligible applicant. Lots of things have changed since that time so it needs to be revised. Unfortunately, since it is a faculty position, it requires a doctoral degree so my wonderful co-worker/friend is not eligible to apply Academia has all sorts of weird rules. The other complication would be that if my co-worker was eligible, then we'd have to try to get approval to replace her position since half of her position involves running the fitness center at the retirement community. I was really lucky that she was available and willing back in 2020 to replace me. She is an alum and had been teaching as an adjunct for us for several years after graduating. There isn't another person like her waiting in the wings. I hope my anatomy students study as there were a lot of crickets in the room yesterday morning when we reviewed joints. Truly a "Bueller Bueller anyone" moment. Tomorrow is their practical exam. Monday is the written. I will soon know which students have potential to do well in the class and which ones will be praying to just squeak by. There are a couple students who are giving me the impression that they will do very well. And a couple who are nice but seem to have no ability to retain basic information about their bodies. For my medical terminology exam, one student never bothered to show up nor email. I issued an early warning notice. His academic records are riddled with these notices for nearly every semester he has attended. He also needed 5 attempts to pass physics. I still have a another student who never purchased the course materials. I've only graded the multiple choice and he got 50% of them correct. Most everyone else did fine. This morning is my bone density test. Thursday morning is my eye exam. It is a busy week. Have a great day!

Good morning!
Today was supposed to be a day of IEP meetings. Instead, I had one meeting yesterday. My first meeting today was a no show. The next meeting will be on track and the one after that will be by phone. I had to change another one to tomorrow. I will be so glad to be done with this. Nine IEPs in the first six weeks of school is ridiculous and exhausting.
Mia is allergic to fleas, which is why she can't get rid of the rash, though very few fleas have been found on her lately. She is on the strong prescription meds and got a shot of steroids and a shot of antibiotics. The vet said that she has never seen fleas this bad across the board. I guess it was the hot, dry summer that allowed them to thrive. Plus, they are becoming immune to the medicines, which is why new meds are having to be developed all the time.
I hope you have a great day!

Hi, Started out w fall cleaning diligently and early this rainy, cool morning. Took a snuggle break, and fell sound asleep sitting up w Q on my lap until a tornado warning woke me up. Luckily it was south of us, so I didn't have put on a bra and get out of my cleanup clothes. Now, I have lost all my interest in cleaning 🤣🤣🤣 I'll just start doing a little thing, and then another...I need to eat lunch first.

Howdy!
We’re signing the lease for the new office today. Wahoo! I’m doubly glad because police cars were in our parking lot all afternoon having a stake-out. They were waiting for someone who works in one of the buildings in our complex to leave so they could arrest him. (There are 8 buildings. We have offices in 3 of them.) They were there from noon until at least 6:30. I let our security guy know and he’s going to look at our video to see what happened. Such a quaint lil place, eh?
I think I have a meeting free day today. Wooohoooo!!!
I haven’t been able to find a weekend violin lesson yet. A couple of people offered evening lessons, but that’s not my preference.
Have a great day!

Happy Humpday!
Today is the moment of truth for my students as we are having our lab practical. Only a handful of students came to the open lab sessions. Some of the ones who I know needed more time with the models were absent. I can't do any more than I have already done for them. I was talking with a colleague in a different department and she has also noted a steep decline in students' ability to retain information. She feels it started before the pandemic and then things got even worse. She congratulated me on my upcoming retirement and said that she won't be around much longer either. She's fed up with what is going on at the university as well.
Bone density test went fine and I already have the results. Some areas got better, some lost a bit of density but it appears that overall things are good. My PA will make her interpretation on the results at some point this week.
Yesterday was a blur overall. I'm so far behind on everything. I will be glad when September is over.
Have a great day!
