Morning.
This weekend was pretty easygoing. After work Thursday, YF, G, & I did cadences in the park. Then Friday morning my mani was cancelled because she had to take care of her FIL while her guys got started on harvest. Her FIL had a simple surgery that turned on him and left him in the hospital a little longer than planned. He's fine, but I told her to take care of him and squeeze me in later in the week. That freed up Friday morning for an earlier run with the girls. So we went out father down the trail for a long run with G. She had 4.5+miles on her program to do. YF & I let G go at her own pace while we brought up the rear. We got in just over 4 miles and G did about a mile more. I was really questioning my life choices about the time that we hit mile 3. We ended up heading to Manhattan so that YF could pick up her package from FedEx, otherwise she would have had to wait until Monday for it. Because we live in Mayberry. We went out for lunch and we both got glutened when the kitchen didn't realize that bulgar wheat is...wait for it... WHEAT. We had been explicit with the waitress who has food allergies and marked them GF allergy on the ticket. It looked like rice and YF took a bite of it before we realized the issue. After the sad meal (and mollifying the waitress who was near tears) we cut the rest of the day short. We stopped for a car part for my car, the package for YF, skipped the pedi we had talked about, and grabbed a smoothie on the way out of town. So easy going except Friday.
Saturday was a get together of a few Harris supporters at the coffeeshop. The group was much smaller this time, but we had a nice chat and put together a few postcards for Dems that didn't vote in the last election cycle. We met a woman who had moved to town about a year ago and had a lovely time getting to know her. There were less than 10 this time compared to the 2 dozen we had last time. The next Dem meeting is Thursday night. We'll wait another week or so before we schedule another Saturday meetup.
Hopefully there will be yoga tonight. I still will need to get in another workout to meet the 3/4/5 challenge.

Good morning! I had a great birthday with friends, music, more music and more friends. The weather has been perfect. I ate from my favorite food truck--Pakalachian, a mashup of Pakistani and Appalachian food. They were out of most everything by the time I got there, but my favorite dish was still on the menu. It is called Curry Me Down South--chicken curry served on mashed potatoes with a spicy green sauce you can add to it. I always double up on that. www.thepakalachian.com/I need to finish my coffee and head back down to Bristol. Today is my favorite day of the festival. It is more mellow and the crowds are lightened up. Bonus--Sam Bush is playing today! The last band of the day is The Steeldrivers!!! I hope you all have a great day!

I keep forgetting to tell you all about our rah, rah, rah Town Hall on Friday. New freshman and transfer enrollment is up. Yay! So is the number of students in the remedial math classes since they aren't ready for college algebra, a degree completion requirement/// But hey, it is all about retention of warm bodies, not those who will be academically successful.
Lots of hype about radical hospitality, too. There will be a monthly award so nominate your peers who exemplify radical hospitality. Rah, rah, rah. I won't be in the running for that with all the stupid questions that I'm answering lately from students because they won't bother to look at the syllabus nor read my emails.
In related news, I sent in my official letter stating that I am resigning my position in May 2025.

Greetings!
13 more weeks until this semester is over. All the postings on FB about the colors up north make me sad that I can't partake in a trip that far away with my stupid MWF teaching schedule. I really had some great trips in the autumns of 2020 through 2022 when I no longer had to deal with running the fitness center and had a much better teaching schedule. My next little getaway will be 10/4-10/6 when I volunteer at the hiking event at Devil's Lake.
I'm ready for class today. I also have a good start on Friday's lecture. But I also worked 12 hours over the 2 days this weekend. I'm tired of not having any days completely away from work.
Have a great day!

Hey there!
Yesterday was a lazy, lazy day. It was too hot to do anything at all so I napped a lot. I don’t really feel refreshed after a day like that.
I hope this week will be somewhat sane. I’ve got a new employee starting today. I’m thinking about taking Friday off but it’s still going to be miserably hot so I don’t know what I would do with myself.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Yesterday was lazy here too. And I didn't have Pepper's oppressive heat to blame. Just my own lack of GAS.

Hi, Yesterday was v humid over here. I was walking to the soccer pub, but once I got 2 blocks away from the Lakeshore I was dripping. I literally sweat all my tinted SPF moisturizer makeup off. I was able to catch an opportune bus for part of the way, and the remaining walk was heading west w the wind so I got some breeze. Newcastle had an excellent, come from behind win yesterday-very exciting! They are currently in 3rd place! (Liverpool wankers lost, too, which is as good as a win for us!) I was the only Newcastle fan there, my usual guys were travelling. There's another story behind that too, but somebody wants to play again so it's for another time. TTFN.

Good morning!
I am blissfully exhausted! I put in over 45,000 steps this weekend and my feet are letting me know about it. Thankfully, my knee is holding up pretty well. Sam Bush was everything, as always. My friends and I went to the rooftop bar/restaurant after his show and listened to the Steeldrivers as I drank a bunch of water and had my annual BRRR last day cheeseburger. It was a great day!
I desperately need to go to the grocery store, but I have to run straight home after work to meet the Window World people. DH sent a rock through the glass door and the replacement is coming today. DH is off coaching golf, so I have to be there for them. I guess I will make my run after that. If DH had driven himself, I would have him take care of the grocery run.
It is Homecoming week here and I am avoiding it all, if possible. Today is the Dodgeball tournament during 1st (which is my planning) and 2nd (which my least favorite class), so that makes a good day, too.
I had better get to work on the IEPs that are due next week.
I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: This morning felt so cool it felt like November..........well, Nov in Florida!! LOL 75 - low humidity and breezy. We took an extra long walk. Yesterday I got a LOT of stuff done in the house to make up for a week (or so) of slacking. Today I tackle the upstairs. Tomorrow is Four Flamingos Magical Dining. It's owned by Richard Blais if any of you watch the food networks. It was amazing last year. Sidenote....I didn't make it to the store yesterday and last night I cut the carrots in half. nasty looks and begging ensued.

Howdy! newmoose, I saw that N.C. Is getting hit with flooding rains. Is it hitting your neck of the woods? I need to decide if I want to take the pie class at Escoffier this weekend. I love pie and it will be fun; I just have a Tired of People attitude right now. Have a great day!

Greetings!
Much better start to this work week since I was actually prepared for my classes. Several students were absent in both classes. Oh well, exams are coming so we will see if not coming to class affects their scores.
I ended up being firm on that 5pm Friday deadline. Had another student email yesterday morning claiming internet issues were the reason. Um, yeah, you emailed me nearly 72 hours later? And the internal timestamp in the PDF indicates you created the file 5 minutes before emailing it to me? I may be old, but I'm not stupid.
Today I go get the ECG machines. We also have a college meeting and I need to figure out what I'm talking about with the students tomorrow in the new freshmen seminar. I also need to setup my lab. So a long and busy day awaits.
Have a great day!
P.S. Best comment from a colleague yesterday "Be happy! Enjoy your year!" This was after we were discussing changes the provost wants to implement that seem to have little value for the students but have a big impact on faculty workloads. I'm pretty sure I'll be out of there before the changes are implemented.

Good morning! In the same vain as GG's post about it being her last year...Every year I say I am going to take the Monday after BRRR off to recuperate, but never do. Next year, and every year after, I will be off on the Monday after BRRR! I got just as much done yesterday as V did. That has to change. We have a student volleyball game this afternoon that I will skip and really get after these IEPs. I will also stay late today and tomorrow to get them done. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I spotted and got a very good ID on a Yellow Billed Cuckoo yesterday! I'm trying to be more appreciative of the live experience with seeing these migrating birds, rather than frenetically trying to get pictures this time around. Now that I know they come back around and am more confident in my spotting and ID skills, I can truly enjoy a first ever (life list) sighting.

Happy Humpday!
Ugh. Yesterday was long, again. I was so exhausted by the time I got home and then I didn't sleep well. Today will be another slog. I never got a chance to put anything together for today's freshman seminar so I guess I will be winging it.
I don't understand our administration, specifically our dean. Part of yesterday's meeting was a discussion of why the Science & Sociability events are so poorly attended. They are held at 3pm on several Fridays during the academic year. Um, maybe because people are so overworked that the last thing that they want to do is stay on campus on a Friday afternoon instead of going home and chilling out? I'm an introvert that plays an extrovert. I'm so freaking drained by the time Friday rolls around that the last thing I want to do is be sociable. I just want to go home and sit with the cats.
There was also a big push to attend and volunteer at homecoming next week. Hard pass for me. With the ECG screenings on top of my already overwhelming workload, I have absolutely no desire to give back. I've given enough.
Have a better day than I will have!

Morning.
I think part of my lethargy is the glutening from Friday. I've been bloaty and exhausted.
MG had an adventure last night. He took the garbage out and then backed my car into the garage. About the time he watched the door close, he realized he had not checked to ensure the cat was in the house versus chilling in the garage. He went through the house (including the bedroom where I was sleeping with a flashlight) and didn't see her. Then checked through the garage and no Abbey. Then he started to panic. He said that he was composing the sad speech about how he lost my cat. He drove around the neighborhood (in the non-garaged car) and saw a calico at the neighbor's and proceeded to give chase. Abbey is notorious for dodging us when she gets a taste of outside freedom. The cat disappeared completely. There were also an assortment of wildlife milling about the place like opossum, bunnies, squirrels, and skunks. He was headed home and planning to lay out a blankie (for a cat. that sleeps on a glass shelf in the window. when it is nearly 70* overnight.) and food and water. He was gathering supplies and checked the garage one last time. There was Abbey covered in cobwebs waiting to be let in the house and fed and brushed. I can see MG in my mind's eye with his hands up and his mouth agape as he sputters to himself all sorts of blue language and gibberish.
Nails have been rescheduled for this afternoon. And even sitting for an hour after an excruciating work week sounds horrible. I need to look for more Blue/Kamala nail designs.

Good morning!
I am buried under paperwork mountain! I stayed at work until 4:30 yesterday, and may again today. I need to finish all this stuff before leaving tomorrow afternoon for Infamous Weekend!
Yes, another weekend, another music festival! We get out early tomorrow for Parent/Teacher conferences, but I am not to stay for those (workout year), so DH and I will leave around 2:00. We are staying at a friend of ours and will stop in at his house and have dinner before heading to the festival. We will stay until with our friend until Sunday morning and then head home.
Trivia tonight. I hope to get my trivia mojo back, since we have stunk it up the last couple of weeks.
I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Hump day!! Late night was a lot of fun. Can't even begin to remember how they described that meal. Yummy is all I know. Grilled grouper in a white cheesy cream sauce, salad w/peaches and pine nuts and fried cheese in a fruity oil something and chocolate cheesecake with mole sauce. I think the menu writers excel at BS writing. Today is clean the upstairs. Cooler here and I am loving it.
