Good Morning Ladies: Surprisingly cool this am so we had an extra long walk and now my back is pissed at me. Oh well, you can't please everyone. Another quiet day. DD has to go back to work and Idon't think the Z's should be alone, so I asked her to bring the over. Not sure if she will. I actually have a few things they could do to earn a few bucks and stay busy........but what do I know...

Howdy!
I was asleep by 8 last night and laid in bed until 7 this morning. I need to get off the couch and go for a run before it gets too hot.
I’ve got to let an employee go and it will probably happen next week. Bleh. I really, really, really hate that part of my job. Of course anyone who likes that sort of thing is an absolute monster, so there’s that. The employee won’t be surprised (or shouldn’t be; we’ve talked about the issue and she hasn’t improved) but it still sucks.
We’ve got a good chance of rain all weekend. I’ve got a couple of new books, so I wouldn’t mind bonding with them on the couch.
Have a great weekend!

Greetings!
Thanks to tomorrow being a holiday, today is Second Saturday!
We had a nice time at our friends yesterday getting all caught up. I walked 8.2 miles at Waterfall Glen before we headed over there. It was too peopley as it is a very popular place for the cross country running teams as well as marathon training groups. Plus lots of cyclists, walkers and runners.
Today will just be a shorter walk at the arboretum before I deal with personal stuff and then head to campus for the endless cycle of class prep.
Have a great day!

Morning.
Friday morning was a run with YF & G. We got in 2 miles and felt pretty good by the time we were done. I thought there was a sidewalk sale thingy at a town near us, but realized that it would be next weekend before we got going. So I went home and sat. I was ok with that decision.
Busy day yesterday. I hosted a meeting of Kamala for Prez people at our coffeeshop. We got 24 people and there were still several that are like-minded that could not attend. It was great connecting with people and my WW leader training really helped facilitate the conversation and keep the info light and positive. I hope we get more of these going as the feeling of isolation in our small rural communities can make it feel like we're all alone otherwise.
Work this morning has already been a hassle and I don't know how (or even if) I'm going to handle it. I'm not in trouble. I just have to talk to the girls about how we can all get along without the shit stirring that is going on. The youngest of us is nearly 50 and the oldest (New Girl) is 64. You would think that with 200 years of experience peopling, we could figure out how to get along. Ugh. I hate people.
Hope your day goes better than mine!

Good morning!
We had a great time with our friends yesterday. I love the people I went to college with. We really are one big family. It didn't hurt that our team whooped the other team. It really was too hot to be out, so I spent a lot of time under the canopy drinking water, and beer, and water, and beer. The yellow jackets were horrendous, too. They had no interest in the trap I had out for them, but they sure wanted the chicken we had for tacos. I ended up putting stuff up in the cooler, as well as a few yellow jackets.
The game was called in the 4th quarter, due to lightning. We ended up getting rain and now the mosquitos are out in full force. I took the dogs out this morning and now am covered in bites. The only good thing about this hot, dry summer has been the absence of mosquitos. They will find me, if there is one in the area.
We are going to take the dogs out and enjoy some time out and about today. The storms brought us much cooler temps and we can get out and not be miserable. There is a place that has THE best wings and DH wants to head there. They also have good salads, so we will have both.
I guess I had better put on some clothes. Have a great day!

Hi, Newcastle won today despite scoring an own goal for the other team, big match at the home stadium. I stayed home to watch, I'm not comfortable going up to the footy pub for an early morning match anymore.
Getting ready to have lunch and then clean, once my lap napper moves.

Greetings!
All weekends should be at least 3 days long!
I had a nice walk at the arboretum yesterday. Stayed on the trails to avoid all the runners and cyclists as they are only allowed on the paved roads. Only got one bug bite in the process. Then I dealt with culling down the piles of personal financial stuff that accumulated during my Colorado trip. Still more to do but dealt with the critical matters. Finally, I went to campus and got everything ready for my medical terminology class. Today I will work on the other class.
Trying to get organized to get out for a bike ride this morning. I went down the rabbit hole of securing reservations on Isle Royale for this time next year! You can only get to that national park via ferry or seaplane as it is way out in Lake Superior close to Canada. I'll be on the island for 5 nights. Last night when I was looking at reservations, I couldn't get 2 nights in a row much less 5 nights in a row so figured I would have to wait until 2026. But I checked again this morning and magically I was able to get reservations so I went for it! Retirement is going to get off to a great start!
Have a great day!

Howdy!
It’s supposed to be only 89° today with rain this afternoon. Woohoooooooo!!! I’m heading to the garden as soon as I finish typing here. I’m going to plant my plot, scope out the pantry plot I’m responsible for, and plant the garden here at home.
My local garden store has an on-site kitty who is just the sweetest thing. Yesterday he was napping in front of the cash register so the cashier had to reach around him. Soooo cute. I love that kitty. I told the cashier that I always hope the kitty would jump in my car as I’m leaving, and he said the whole store would shut down if the kitty went missing. My Home Depot also has a shop kitty. ❤️
My woodworking classes this weekend were both very good. I have a 10% off coupon from the store where the Saturday one was held, so there’s some new wood in my future. There were only 2 of us in the class, and my co-student kept showing us pics of a tree he had cut down and had milled so he could build things with the wood. Got it, dude. Stop with the pictures already.
Yesterday was my private lesson about hand planes. It was amazing and I learned so much. The more I learn about wood, the more there seems to be to learn. It’s definitely a living thing, so it seems like learning about a body and all the changes and reactions it is capable of.
Gotta get moving. Have a great day!

Morning.
We went to the races last night to watch Manicurist's daughter drive. She got bumped and it bent her front axle so her 5th place finish was a bit disappointing for her. But it was fun and noisy. My ears still aren't quite right this morning.
The girls want to get out for a 5k tonight to get the RAA challenge badge. I would much rather not at this point, but I'm sure I'll do it. CSO is talking about 6 miles. YF has been scouring the Facebooks for "beach runs". I just wanna nap.

Hi, pepper you might enjoy reading The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. I'm glad you're enjoying your woodlery. There was a wonderful antique furniture/greenhouse & plants/curiousities & whimsies store that was 3 stories of a brownstone in the little Hudson River town I grew up in. They had a shop poodle. She was a soft brown, shaggy lovebug. Her name was Sybil. "Let's go to Sybil's house," we'd say. Never referred to it as Christopher's. My wonderful Greek god head sculptures are from there, as are my side tables, and a little stoneware house I keep some utensils in. Thanks for a lovely flashback!

Good Morning Ladies: Another rainy day yesterday. Quick run to WalMart (mostly protein drinks)--it is 3 min from my house, but I don't often go. Need a trip to Aldi for a few things, but not today. I am craving ribs......I have put off jobs for days watching TV.need to get off my ass but don't want to.

Happy Monday! (That's not something you hear every week!)
I slept late today and needed it! DH and I have been cleaning and doing laundry all afternoon. We are heading out for dinner in a bit.
We had a great time going to get wings. The dogs were great company and the food was delicious.
I had heard from WF that there was a zebra on the way, and there was! I will post a picture from my phone in a bit.
I hope your day has been a good one!

Howdy!
I planted 3 gardens yesterday — my community garden plot, the food pantry plot, and Mom’s garden here at home. Now we need some rain.
This should be a busy week. We’re short-handed because the person who is being let go is only doing about half of her job. I’m tired just thinking about it.
I’m thinking of moving my October 7-9 Amish woodworking class to the January session. It’s for part 2 of the class I took a couple of months ago. I can save $200 if I take parts 2&3 the same week, but I can’t do part 3 in October because of work stuff. As it is, I’m going to have to work some during the evenings of the Oct 7-9 class. I’ll enjoy the week and get an actual vacation by doing it in January. The October class is sold out, so someone on the wait list can jump into my spot.
Have a great day!

Greetings! This is the last shorter work week until Thanksgiving *sobs* 12 full weeks until then. I got the motel reservations made for the 2 nights before my trip. Can't make the ones for the 2 nights afterward since it is over 1 year out! I'll be able to do that on Thursday. The ferry reservations for 2025 will open up in December so I will be sure to get those made as soon as I can. It was delightful bike riding yesterday morning. Never took off my jacket as the temps were in the upper 50's - low 60's. Productive day on campus yesterday. All I need to do in the lab tonight is pull out the models and put the stickers on them. I already figured everything else out for a change. My fitness center has reopened today!!! I'm so glad to be able to get back there as it really helps make my morning routine go more smoothly. Have a great day!

Morning.
The girls did get me out last night. I had been dealing with a nasty headache most of the day. I collapsed on the sofa immediately after work and MG threw some Tylenol down my throat before I sunk into oblivion. When he woke me up an hour later to meet the girls I felt absolutely drugged (yes, I'm sure it was just Tylenol). It took most of the first mile to shake off the stupor. We walked quite a bit of the 5k but got it all done. My training program only called for 1.5miles of running after a warm up, so the rest of the route was pretty mellow until YF decided that we had too much left to only walk all the way back and did a few short jogs here and there. It took all of an hour. No land speed records were set that day.
MG put up the last piece of guttering that had been removed for the painting access. And he tried to reinstall a light fixture I had removed during painting. I asked him about moving his truck into the back yard area so that YMV could load the bricks. And we talked about when we would move the fill dirt in around the new patio and level the back yard appropriately. Afterward I went inside and made a smoothie for supper and realized that smoothie is a euphemism for milkshake. Healthier, yea, but a milkshake none the less.
I went to bed early. There are no late-night shows on when there are holidays. MG said "my boys" (Colbert, Stewart, Meyers, et al) will be back tonight. I ordered a new fabric watchband for my Garmin because the silicone strap is rubbing my wrist raw. And I asked MG about a stylus that would be compatible with my iPad. I woke up this morning to a note that a new stylus would arrive Wednesday. I'm so damn spoiled.

Good morning!
Back to work and back to business. I have IEPs to write, but can get it done quickly. The first one is for a senior, so there is little extra to do on those.
The luxury of being in my workout year is that I can come into work late. It's a good thing, since I could not get going this morning. I got here in plenty of time to get a little bit of work done and drink some coffee.
We are using a different dog sitter this weekend. If she works out, I will probably use her, as well as our other dog sitter. I love the woman that we usually get, but the new person charges $20 less a day and that can be a significant amount if we are gone for multiple days.
I am going to make spicy chicken soup for dinner tonight. I should be able to just dump the ingredients in a pot and let them simmer. I do need to run by the FM this afternoon to get a couple of other ingredients. I hope I have stuff to make cornbread to go with it. If not, I do have some good crackers.
I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Today is book club luncheon (Mexican fare). And, it is my youngest grandsons birthday, so will try to do something tonight. He is about as stressed as Zoey as he and Timmy spent a lot of time together. It is so difficult. I didn't accomplish a thing again yesterday. I really have to snap out of it. I did get DD and I a BBQ dinner, so that itch is scratched. Hope most of you had a day off to celebrate.

Happy Humpday!
My prep work on Monday paid off and I had my lab setup in record time last night. Now to keep reminding myself how good it feels to not come home late on Tuesdays if I take the time to plan and prep on the weekends. Yes, I resent that I have to work weekends but if it means I can keep a more consistent sleep schedule, then it is worth it. After all, this won't last forever!
It was so good to be back at my fitness center yesterday!
Have a great day!

Good morning! That soup I made yesterday ended up being really good. I have lots of it leftover and most of that will go in the freezer for meals at a later time. New dog sitter got along well with my girls, so it should work out just fine. It is nice to have more than one option. DS2 is coming home for a bit next month! He has a bunch of PTO that won't roll over, so he is going to fly home. He is going to go to Cavefest with us, and then on to Nashville for the Titans game. DH and I will be off the end of his trip home for Fall Break, so we will get lots of time with him...at least that is the hope. I really wish DS1 could come in, too, but he should be starting a new job about that time, so that won't work. Trivia tonight means a good salad for dinner. It's at a pizza place, but I don't need to be eating pizza every week. Amazingly, my weight stayed the same this week. There was extra days out and about and that tends to lead to less healthy choices. I need to crack down a bit more on that, without feeling deprived or worrying about it all the time. I have the latter part down pat. I hope you all have a great day!

Morning.
Last night we went to the Mexican restaurant to celebrate CSO's first day of her new job. It was hectic for her and plagued with IT problems. But she survived. It is a job she had done before. She needs to complete recertification by next spring and hopefully will get to keep the position if TPTB find it in their hearts to renew her contract. She does the job well and fairly. I think they will realize what an asset she is very quickly.
I thought about going for a walk afterward, but that didn't happen. I need to get out and do something tonight. The weather has really turned mild and we are even seeing overnight temps in the low 50's so a run this afternoon is not out of the realm of possibility.
Have a great day!

Good MOrning Ladies: Yesterday was busy. Lunch with bookclub ladies; $ Tree for B-day cards, stopped to see DGS20 at his job (Publix) and some BOGO's and to see his "new" car. Then took gift, brownies and few other treats over to DGS14 for his birthday. Had half of my lunch for dinner. Today is Magical Dining at Sea World and we get free parking and free passes into the park.

Greetings!
Labs went better yesterday as I didn't overload the students with too many worksheets. Then I spent an hour+ with one student who I had last year who really needs to pass this course in order to graduate. He is a nice young man with a great work ethic. He just needs some extra instruction to be able to figure out where everything is in our bodies. We will be meeting every Wednesday afternoon after labs for the remainder of the semester.
Today is faculty assembly as well as getting the rest of the details for tomorrow's lecture nailed down. I'm still feeling good about being able to plan far enough in advance so that class days aren't a stress fest. I really don't want a repeat of last fall as I was no good to anyone by the time we finished up finals.
I got my other motel reservations made for the other side of my big trip. Guess I'm not the only one planning a year in advance as I couldn't get the same cabin that I have prior to the trip. I went for a bit pricier one so that I would have a fridge as it has a kitchenette. The other cabin has a mini-fridge and microwave.
The other big thing I accomplished was calling the county to figure out what I needed to do for the senior homestead exemption for our property taxes. Very nice woman walked me through the website to find the form. I will need to get our deed from the safe deposit box before I can turn in the paperwork. DH turns 65 on 9/15. He is now officially on Medicare. Talk about life changes...
Have a great day!
