Good morning! Things seem to be less hectic around here today. I am getting ramped up for all the IEPs that have to be done soon, so that has me in a bit of a frenzy. I am going to stay late on Tuesdays, even though I am not supposed to. I will just have to use that extra time to take a day off now and then. Nothing much else happening around here, which is nothing to complain about. I hope you all have a great day!

Happy Humpday!
Ugh, yesterday was a long day. I didn't leave campus until 7:30pm. Way too many demands on my time this month at work. I snacked my way through my long day because that seems to be the only coping strategy that I have when I'm so overwhelmed ///
Today won't be as long, but still just as jam-packed.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
Our hot weather is back. It’s supposed to be in the upper 90s over the weekend. I hate that I missed last Saturday’s pretty weather because I was inside working all day.
I’ve got to deal with a surly, immature employee first thing this morning. Sometimes there’s simply no good solution to problems.
I forgot to tell you all that a couple of days ago I found out an employee had been bringing his dog to work for the last week or so. He works in a different building in a part I’m not in very often, but I saw him walking a dog through my building. It was a sweet dog, but our lease does not allow animals. After I double checked the lease, I went over to his building and the dog is loose in the building and Dude is nowhere to be found. Also, who randomly starts bringing their pets to work without clearing it with anyone? That guy is weird anyway. A few weeks ago he was in my building flying a drone around the open office (cubes) area. Dude! People are trying to work! Drones are freaking loud inside a building.
I didn’t watch the debate last night (I have zero patience with Trump’s blathering) but I got up extra early to read all about it. Fingers crossed that people actually get out and vote. My yard sign finally arrived yesterday. I hope there are no shenanigans related to having that.
Have a great day!

Good morning!
I stayed at work an extra 1.5 hours yesterday just getting IEPs ready to write. I will probably stay a couple of days next week to get them written. It takes me anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours to do one, and I have four to do by the 25th.
The meeting I had this morning went very well. Then, I was called in to have another meeting, since several people in my dept. are out doing PD today. I have yet to go to class, and won't until 11:00, since it almost my "lunch" time.
My TMJ flared up badly last night. I have no idea what caused it, and it hasn't happened in years. The thought of eating a salad or anything where I have to chew a lot. We'll see how it feels tonight. Luckily I have yogurt for brunch and I'll eat soup for lunch at home.
Trivia tonight. I sure hope we do better than last week!
I hope you all have a great day!

It's been busy this morning. It's been busy all week.
I don't like it.
But YF&DH & CSO (& her DH & adult step daughter) had a lot of fun watching the debate last night. MG Stayed home with Ripley and YMV.

Happy Friday Eve!
The student I meet with every Wednesday after lab was out sick yesterday so that was a gift of time. I got caught up on grading as a result. Still too damn much to do this month. It is exhausting.
We need rain. Everything is too dry.
I'm just a ray of sunshine this morning////
Have a great day!

Howdy!
People, I swear. Especially immature, whiney, self centered people at my job who think someone else needs to solve their life problems, or just allow them to come to work only when it is convenient. Lordy. Sigh. This has kept me up way too many nights.
Anyway, weekend is coming! It’s supposed to be 99°! Whee?
Have a great day!

Morning.
YF texted to see if I wanted to go out. I was open to it. But we didn't. I'm ok with that too.
Yesterday was lazy. Busy of the stoopit sort at work, but not painful. Today walking into the office with nothing blown up was a gift. I hope it stays this way.

Good Morning Ladies: Got up super early to take zack to school for special tutor for the time he missed......and he tried to talk his way out of having to go--after I was up and all the way over there I just laughed at him. Yesterday was a lovely day of friends and food. Almost all of it is in the fridge.I did come home and finish the most amazing cannoli We even had entertainment at dinner. So much fun. Today is stupid housework.

Good morning!
The jaw has miraculously gone back to normal! Yay!!!
I really just want to go back home and take a nap. I, unfortunately, won't get that chance. Maybe tomorrow, since we get out of work early for the kiddos to go to the county fair.
We did ok at trivia last night. We would have done better if our DS's hadn't called a couple of times during the questions. Nothing was wrong, in fact it was good stuff, but it was distracting. I did end up eating salad that I cut up very small.
GN tonight. Not sure where, but there is a new BBQ place in town, so maybe there.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hi, 9/11 is always a hard day for me. And I found out that one of my classmates from 3rd grade through HS unexpectedly passed away yesterday. She was a truly loving spirit, and a book she wrote some years ago is being published this fall. I'm so sorry she's didn't get to see that happen, but it's good that there will be a piece of Margaret out in the world for others to experience. She came to Chicago in 2019, and we went to lunch w another friend from our 3rd grade class who lives here. I so glad we did.
So, that's 3 people I have lost in the past 4 weeks. I'm glad I have my new snuggly girl around, she's definitely been an emotional support for me. Even if I don't always post here, you guys are with me.

TGIF?
I have to put in a lot of work this weekend because of the big projects I'm juggling this month but at least I won't have students randomly popping in and disturbing my train of thought. These next 2 weeks really get intense with the ECG screenings, the committee forms and providing assistance on Wednesdays for our new freshman seminars. It really is a ridiculous amount of work. If I had any second thoughts about retiring early, they are completed vanquished by how overwhelming this week has been.
There is a 5pm deadline today for the committee forms and I'm enforcing it. I told the students at the information meeting yesterday that 5pm means 5pm, not 5:03pm, not 6pm, not 11:59pm. They have known about the deadline for 2 weeks and the form is very simple to fill out. I have already received 30+ forms. I'm staying on campus until 5pm so that I can remove access to the dropbox they upload the forms into. That door is slamming shut!
I'm not fully prepared for class this morning thanks to all the craziness yesterday. I still have to make copies and grab some bone models out of the lab. I also have to upload a few documents to our learning management site.
After my class, the president is having a town hall meeting to bring us up to date on budget and enrollment. It is only in person so no multi-tasking during that meeting.
Have a great day!

My problem child resigned. It breaks my heart when someone is smart and talented and you bend over backwards to help them and they won’t get out of their own way. I’m sad about her leaving. I hope she gets life figured out soon. I honestly think she thought I would bend over even more backwards so she wouldn’t leave, but I have hit my limit. I need someone to do that job, that’s all.
I’m going to work my butt off today so I don’t have to work over the weekend. Fingers crossed! Bossman is out so he can take his wife on a picnic to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. Isn’t that the sweetest?
Have a great day!

Good morning and TGIF!
Today is the start of the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion (BRRR). I love this festival and all the energy it brings to our area. The gates open at 3:00, but the music doesn't start until 5:00. I am going to try to get down there around 4:30 so I can get parked and such.
We get out of school early today, and since I don't stay for workdays, I get to leave right after the students do. I think I am going to try to get a nap in before going to the music festival. Of course, I probably won't get any sleep because I am too hyped up to rest.
The barbeque place was really busy. They ran out of almost everything, but what I got was good. WF got the wings and said they were great, too. I will definitely go back.
I hope you all have a great day!

Greetings! Survived the official work week. Slammed the door shut on that dropbox at 5:01pm last night. Close to 50 forms in total were received since it opened 2 weeks ago. That is plenty. Not everyone who submits a form does the second, much larger, part of turning in a full set of application materials in early January. No doubt there might be an email or two from someone who blew the deadline waiting for me in my inbox. Oh well. Historically, the ones who miss deadlines aren't the best of students anyway. I was on campus yesterday at 6:30am and had everything ready for my class in plenty of time. I certainly will try to get everything for the upcoming week done this weekend as I do not want to go through that fire drill again. Plus I have way too many other things already on my calendar this coming week so my time is very limited to do class prep during the week. I didn't get out of bed this morning until after 5:30am! Finally got some good sleep. I'll head out for a bike ride once the caffeine kicks in. Happy Butterfat day newmoose! Have a great day!

Howdy!
It’s supposed to be 100° today. There’s a giant annual festival downtown and a U of Texas football game that probably won’t have a single open seat. If EMTs earned tips, they could make a mint on a day like today.
Every day this week was an 11-12 hour work day. This morning i’m going for a run and will putter with some woodworking. I have no plans for the hot afternoon other than a nap and a grocery run.
I have a new employee starting Monday. I’ll think more about that on Monday. My brain is on break for the next 48 hours.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies: Yesterday was a lot of fun and gorgeous. 6 on the boat and 9 at the restaurant. Lots of wildlife and not at all hot. I had chicken pot pie that was the same recipe they used in 1883 when it opened. Yummy. Today is lots of housework...starting upstairs so I can't put it off again (do any of you have to use tricks to get you to do stuff?). LOL,

Happy Butterfat newmoose ! Successfully got through the gyne yesterday. Now we'll see how long it takes for the mammo and urogyne referral appts to be set up. We had a meateaters club impromptu dinner last night. S is away on biz, and E found a recipe he wanted to make. It was a Hawaiian roll slider casserole thing. Very tasty, but waaaaay off my weight loss plan. I made parmesan and Panko crusted roasted cauliflower and a salad as sides. Sadly, the cauliflower didn't crust properly, so we ended up with some nice roasted cauli with a lot of Panko/parm crumbs. Oh well. Watching footy this morning. I was going to go birding, but my girl's got an upset tumtum, so I'll stay in and keep an eye on her and go out for the end of day walk. Footy pub tomorrow for my team. It's Mexican Independance Day on Monday, but the incessant driving around in cars with flags, loud music, and horns honking already started last night. It's going to be a long, loud weekend.

Happy Saturday!
I am enjoying a quiet morning, early afternoon at home. I am finishing my coffee and then heading down to Bristol in a bit.
I watched quite a bit of music yesterday. My favorite was J & the Causeway--funky rock and blues. I hope to see more of that today and catch some of my local favorites.
Thank you all for the birthday love. It's going to be a great day!

Greetings!
Had a lovely 25 mile meander around suburbia yesterday on my bike. Weather was perfect. At least one house already had their yard decorated for Halloween.
Then I went to campus and got a lot of class prep done. More to do today but I was pleased with how much I got done.
Only 1 student had emailed a late application for the recommendations committee. Her GPAs are currently lower than our minimum requirements but not as low as the 3 others that I rejected. She is in a class that my co-worker teaches this semester so I want to get her impressions of this student before I make a final decision. We already have 48 applications which could mean 48 students to interview in the spring. That is way more workload than I want to have.
Have a great day!

Howdy!
Yesterday was a nice day of puttering and erranding and sharpening new woodworking tools. I never made it to the grocery store. I need to go water the community garden this morning before it gets too hot, so maybe I’ll add the grocery run in with that. The grocery people probably won’t mind my sweat and dirt too much.
There’s a Kohl’s near here so I’ll ask Mom if she wants to go walk around in there. She used to love Kohl’s, and she had a great time walking around Dollar Tree for an hour a few weeks ago. She gets around ok when she has a shopping cart to lean on. She has both a walker and a cane, but rarely uses either. She is much more willing to walk if she’s shopping.
Have a great day!
