good morning - post from late last night:
Hi all - quick stop in -I'm exhausted - show was over all a good one -yesterday was FANTASTIC - today -not so much -as is often the case in a 2 day show -but all things considered!
Faye - 4 shows -10 days -WOW -your fingers will be wiped when you are done - I still hear from Judy here & there - she seems busy -we never got another chance to get together -may have to wait until holidays are over -I did send her a link to here -but.....
Amy -I like that name -a horse w/ a passport - pretty fancy! You will do fine with him!
Libby - hope it works out with the house!
Beth -I love biscuits -with honey? learned that when I lived in Atlanta many years ago!
Dutch -do you have to order sheets on line or is there a tack shop near -don't you just hate that?
Cathy-glad you are getting some more swimming in -jealous of that kind of weather!
Faye - next show is at a temple in 2 weeks -then 2 weeks off -so I'll be busy -
The other woman at the barn rode Penny yesterday with Dee & Skip - put her in a western saddle! So I guess Penny now goes both ways! They took a trail that I might not like -too steep -Penny did fine (not surprised -it's my issue not hers!) Glad she got out!
off to do errands then riding this afternoon-Waving to all -HAGD

rode both horse on Saturday evening, beautiful sunny fall day, 3 in a row! Great for this area! Both horses did really well. Trying a western move on both of them and Lucy caught on right away, I'll have to work with uppity Rosie more. I tell them whoa and drop my reins on their necks quickly, expecting a complete stop. Had a wonderful dinner here with friend from high school who moved back here after 10+ years of moving around. We both were so excited to finally be able to be close again! I don't have many friends left from high school days! Found I can entertain w/o blowing my diet! Had eggplant and spaghetti squash, marinara sauce, harvest salad and bar be que sliced beef. I put pistachio nuts out for a snack, shelling them makes it so you don't over eat them lol. My friends dh has diabetes, so the low carb dinner went over great and we had a blast (only one glass of red wine). Still hanging on to the couple lbs. that are making me not reach my new goal! Will be really busy with work this week, then it should slow down considerably. Faye; glad you got 2 weeks off Barb; nice that Penny works well with other people! I ride Rosie English and western, she prefers western, I like English, the saddle is lighter to get on her lol Cathy; looks like you got nice weather for the coast here in WA Beth; how is the knee? Wave to all other posters, I'd better get in the shower and get to work!!

God morning. I've been a total couch potato this weekend resting my knee. Today it paid off as I was able to walk this morning with very little discomfort. I can tell I haven't been walking as much because my clothes are getting a little tight. Gotta watch that.
Faye-so with the 4 shows coming up, which are solos and which are ensembles?
Barb-I loved to ride steep trails. It really makes you move around in the saddle to balance yourself and help the horse up and down the slope.
Libby-hope the house sells quickly. Are you trying a reining move on the horses?
Amy-you and Lukas will take awhile to get to know each other well but you can do it. I had a left sided mane on a horse years ago. I kept it braided for about 2 weeks straight before it decided to finally lay on the right side.

Hi all Sounds like some good stuff going on! As expected, DS shared his cold. Thankfully, it's mild for us We have several farm/horse stores, so that's handy. I found her a better blanket Friday, fits better too. Cost more, of course! Otherwise, I'd do Dover online, or something like that.

Hi, all...had to catch up! Faye, you are going to be a busy harper! No harps at all in the festival...quite a disappointment but still lots of good music. Amy, so happy for you and Lukas. It does take time, but you will both get there. Maybe it tickles to have your mane braided on a different side? Beth, glad you were able to get in a walk today, but yes, don't overdue. Barb, awesome that the show this weekend went well. Glad you sold lots of stuff. Love the FB pictures! The wind is picking up here (rain expected) so I can hear my windchimes tinkling Libby,I looked at a map of where you are and we did go by, but it was always related to coming from or going to the airport. Now that I have a gist of where you are, next time we will stop by! I'll build it into the trip The festival was fun. Lots of rain driving there on Friday, but Ocean Shores itself was lovely. Had a nice beach walk Sat, then lots and lots and LOTS of music. My friends had favorites, but they also like to hear new bands. There was a trio from Japan, believe it or not. I wonder how they got into Celtic music? That was the only CD I bought as they were just amazing! Lots of food I wouldn't normally eat, and more beer than I would normally drink but managed not to gain the weight I lost, so I'm good! Cat seemed fine, sitter left a "diary" on what she did for each visit. I texted her Friday after her first visit around 7:30, but didn't hear from her until 10:45, so kind of freaked out. She figured I needed to know how things were going so I got a text each evening...much better for my piece of mind Took today off since I knew I'd be home late. Ran some errands, a little grocery shopping to get through the week. Now I'm kind of crashing... Cathy

I ride Rosie English and western, she prefers western, I like English, the saddle is lighter to get on her lol I was at a show about a month ago that had western and English divisions. The saddles on the western horses looked amazing with the silver decorations and fancy tooling. My friend remarked that they were mostly middle aged women. I was like "yea, they are the only ones that can afford it." Their outfits were amazing too, lots of bling. The younger competitors were decked out too but not to the grand extent that these women were, it was so cool. I need to lift the saddle well above my head to put it on Lukas I can't imagine a western saddle not being awkward for me. Today it paid off as I was able to walk this morning with very little discomfort. I can tell I haven't been walking as much because my clothes are getting a little tight. So glad that the rest improved your knee. Shows that is what it needs to recover. I found her a better blanket Friday, fits better too. If it fits better she will be less likely to damage it maybe? Love the name! There was a trio from Japan, believe it or not. there is an Irish Dance community in Japan also, so I wasn't surprised. I think the current generation in Japan loves to seek out other cultures. When I lived in Japan the culture was very much "one" not like in the U.S. where you run into a variety of cultures every day. Cat seemed fine, sitter left a "diary" on what she did for each visit Nice cat sitter! I always think about my animals when I am away, they are so dependent on us. Hi to Faye who is busy harping away! Had a nice ride last night on Lukas. I set two jumps low but ended up not jumping them. I think I need to get to know him better first before jumping without my trainer there. I practiced getting to the right "spot" by cantering over ground poles. Got to run to work HAGD Amy

I'm going to have to learn how to cut and paste the blog like Amy does! DD brought the camper back in from horse camp, during the big storm it developed a leak It's the same spot that leaked the year before and we paid $$$ to fix it. The repair shop said they can't look at it until the end of November - I have a heater on it drying it out. I guess we'll bring it out to my brothers, he has a huge shop where we can store it under cover until we can get it looked at. Dh is thinking about driving it to AZ this winter and living in it, I'll visit lol. We have the timeshare for the first two weeks of February in AZ, the place is beautiful! Before and after that is when he would stay. DS has a life and work here, so I need to stay with him, as he needs full-time care. Cathy; never thought of Asian Irish! lol glad the kitty did well, I really thought they would have harps there - is that more Scottish? Beth; easy on those knees - I still haven't started my exercise back up still recovering Wave to Amy, Barb, Faye, Dutchwife and ATF HAGR

Good afternoon. DH and I worked in the garden this morning pulling out the old plants etc. I'm going to have to learn how to cut and paste the blog like Amy does! Just highlight the quote you want then when the little 'quick quote' button pops up underneath, click on it and go to the the bottom of the page in the reply box. Your quote will be there. Had a nice ride last night on Lukas. I set two jumps low but ended up not jumping them. I think I need to get to know him better first before jumping without my trainer there. I practiced getting to the right "spot" by cantering over ground poles. Smart thinking. Cat seemed fine, sitter left a "diary" on what she did for each visit. What a thoughtful sitter! As expected, DS shared his cold. Thankfully, it's mild for us Glad it was only mild. Barb-NO MORE GLASS until you sell most of your inventory!

Hi all - had a nice ride this morning - it was windy out & Penny was looking for boggie men! Then manicure & flu shot - so I am all set! We are going to regional theater in Maine tomorrow to see "million Dollar Quartet" the music is supposed to be fantastic.

Amy -take your time -you two have lots of time to figure each other out!
Beth - glad the knees are better!
Libby & Cathy - sounds like a meet is in the future - too bad we are all so spread out - what a blast we could have!
Just saw a post from Page on FB - one of her implants is infected - she is having it removed in hospital today - she has had a tough time of it

barbl123 She's a Paint. They have a web site to check on names - this name and my 2 back ups were showing "available", so we'll see! Just want to say thank you to you all for being here. I won't post much, but my personal life is having some issues. Because of that I'm being a bit selfish and not quoting a lot of you, I'm just lacking in some energy right now. My apologies! It's really nice to come to this page and read about your lives - horses and otherwise. Just a nice breath of fresh air. You are my "ahhhhh" moment. Thank you! amy, it's 1 posting trot at at time

Busy day back at work! Faye, hope the practicing is going well! Libby, we noticed driving around at Ocean Shores that you can buy little plots of land. People bring their RVs and "camp" on their land. Kind of a cool idea. One was next to the house we stayed in. Glad you got a nice place in AZ. Amy, glad you got in a ride on Lukas. Yeah, it's probably better to work with the trainer before trying fancy stuff, like jumping Is she around? I know you said she was busy. At the festival they did have some dancers who would dance during the music. One woman was actually a part of the group and provided the "percussion" with her clog dancing Barb, glad you got in a ride, even in the wind! What kind of music is Million Dollar Quartet? Got in a swim so feeling better after yesterday where I did pretty much nothing. Cathy

Hi, all! Faye, glad you had a nice time practicing! Barb, have fun...I do like Johnny Cash (mostly because my dad did Dutch, keep strong! Hi to all the others! Lots of errands today. Glasses, which I've had twice now and are not STILL not happy, have to go back again! The distance is now fine but the reading is still off. SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS OFFICE!!! I really just want to hand them back and get my money back but I'm betting that is not an option. Cathy

Good afternoon. Went to Bible study today. Then DH and I went to lunch. I was proud of myself! I did not eat half of the fries that came with my club sandwich. I was full and so I didn't stuff myself. I've been trying to listen to my body and stop when I get that full-ish feeling.

You are my "ahhhhh" moment. Thank you! Hang in there Dutch! we are all pulling for you. I find this board very supportive in life just because it is always open to friends even at 3 am when you can't sleep. The people are all so nice. Got in a swim so feeling better after yesterday where I did pretty much nothing. I usually feel guilty with those do nothing days but sometimes they are exactly what is needed. Glad you enjoyed your swim. Off to take Tundra to dog park then quick ride before leaving for Maine & the show Enjoy the show, looking forward to hearing about it. I really just want to hand them back and get my money back but I'm betting that is not an option I would ask, sometimes if it can't be made right you can just get your money back and go somewhere else. I know someone who did just that with glasses. I had a great first lesson as owner of Lukas. It could not have gone any better. Yes we have a lot to work on especially on the flat but it seemed hopeful not hopeless. The jumping portion of the lesson went really well. I kind of gave myself a pep talk on the drive to my lesson about being brave and not ridiculous when it came to jumping and I jumped everything she set up for me. I left with such a good feeling and more confidence. I know Lukas is new to me but I should really trust my trainer not to give us more then we can handle, she is all for being safe and it worked out great. I have enough to practice on the flat that I don't need to jump on my own yet. I also am working on riding out of the ring before it gets too bad outside with snow and ice etc. The lesson was in the indoor but I rode him outside afterwards just a little walk around, not too far from the barn. He was a good boy about it. We will go a tiny bit farther next time. Riding out alone is something I take at my own pace and I know I will get there eventually. I just remembered I need to go shop for Halloween treats to give out. Our township always has Trick or Treat night the Thursday before Halloween. It was weird when we first moved here but I have grown to like it. It is from 6 to 8 pm and that is it. Cuts down on the shenanigans I guess. HAGD Amy

Good morning - The show was fantastic - it is about the only time at Sun Records in Memphis that Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis & Carl Perkins were all in the studio and recorded some music- the music was great -the actor who play Jerry Lee Lewis stole the show -his piano playing was crazy! If you ever get a chance to see it -do!
Amy - glad your lesson went well - I'm "assuming" that Luka is somewhat trained and has shown? Good that you are now feeling better about him -and yes, take riding out alone at your own pace -more to make sure he doesn't get "barn sour" and not want to leave -are there trails you can get to on hoof?
Faye - Kabbalah - interesting -there has been an on-going class for years at our temple -but I've never really considered attending. Let me know what you think!
Cathy -there should be some sort of policy - especially if they are not doing the job.
Dutch - hang in there! Go play with Allie!
off to clean -then I have "shop duty" at the art gallery for my group - 11-3 -it should be very quiet -if not dead!
Waving to all -HAGD - CBL
