Shopping done.
Those of you who are getting rain... be thankful. I ran into the people who used to supply me with hay at the farmer's market this weekend. It is so dry here that they didn't get a last cutting and may not have enough hay for their own cattle this winter. That is one thing I do not miss about horse ownership... having to worry about being able to find enough hay for the winter. We're not expecting any rain for at least another week.

Hi, all! Beth, yes, having no rain is not fun. I don't know how much we've had in the last week but it sure feels like a lot. If it gets cold, the skiers will be happy this winter. Libby, sorry you got sick. Did the sauna help? Amy, glad you enjoyed homecoming and had such lovely weather for it. Fun that you got in some extra trail time! Barb, I had no idea what you meant by chrome but now I get it My horse had 4 white socks as well, and black skin under the hairs. To me, white socks always meant crappy hoofs. Faye, hope you're doing well! Dutch, glad Ally is doing well with her feet. Yesterday was a busy day at work so no swimming or walking or anything. They had a block party for Halloween so just hung out and talked to people. Had a long conversation with my one neighbor who I've never really spoken to beyond "hi" and "bye". Today is painting class. Cathy

Hi Horse Friends,
Beth, I hope you get a good rain soon.
Cathy, I know what you mean about finally talking to those "hi" and "bye" neighbors. A block party is such a good idea. I met our new neighbors two doors down by recognizing their Food Truck business at a winery event. Very nice people.
A good friend of mine has been in the hospital since Friday when she came off her horse. She was mounting when he spooked badly. She is going to have to go to a rehabilitation place when they can find her a spot. She cracked her pelvis.
My lesson is this morning and it is the highlight of my week, especially since I am not jumping without a trainer right now.
I am trying to track this week. Had a slip up last night but I have two days to make up for it before the WI Friday morning. I am tired of sabotaging myself.

Good morning. I have Bible study today.
Changing the subject here but I've quit dieting and tracking. I'm learning to be an intuitive eater. That's where you listen to your body for signals to stop eating when your are satisfied. I've been doing this about 2 weeks now. My weight is stable. Haven't lost or gained. I went 3 days in a row without having to take any acid reducing meds. Yesterday I did because tomato-y foods cause me heartburn no matter how much or how little I eat. I learned I'm a waste-not unconscious eater. That's the 'clean your plate no matter how full you are' type of mentality. By watching me, even DH is starting to listen to his body and stop when he's full.
I eat whatever I want and as much as I want. No food is 'forbidden'. What I've found is that foods I used to gobble up because they were 'forbidden', now I can take them or leave them. I know at first I ate them a lot but now that I know I can have them whenever I want I find I don't want them as much now. I think about how the food tastes and try to savor the flavor. I listen for the 'sigh'. When I sigh I know I have had enough.

Good morning - Beth - your way is pretty much what I have been doing for a while - I have been losing SLOWLY - but finding it easier -(or lazier!?) Amy - sorry about your friend -good that you are taking it slow w/Lukas - getting him out & about is also very good! Cathy - hmmm - white feet -bad hooves? never thought of that - as I said - I've pretty much given up trying to get them shiny white! Faye- think you have a show this weekend? Have fun! Yes, show at a temple this Sunday - usually do well there -taking all my menorahs etc - but with Hanukkah so late (!) this year - may be a hard sell!
Rode early this morning w/ Dee -now getting ready for hair apt - then errands -tonight a friend is having a surprise 60th at a restaurant for her DH - so no cooking tonite!

Hi, all! Faye, hope you have a good lesson today! Beth, good for you! I track but I honestly don't seem to care. I'm not an over-eater, more of a snacker. They say using small plates help the serving size issue? Barb, have fun at the party tonight! Glad you got in a ride and a hair appt! Libby, hope the walkthrough goes well. You've seen the place since you're selling it...are you expecting any issues with the walkthrough? Hope you got good stuff from the dr Amy, have a good lesson as well (even though its a different kind of lesson than Faye's . Sorry about your friend...sheesh...broken pelvis. That is SO hard to recover from. Long road ahead for her. Painting class was fun but really stiff afterwards. Doing detail work so cramped my neck. I guess we're having a pot lock in a couple of weeks to send off the teacher. Hopefully swimming - or something - today since it's been a couple of days since I exercised. Cathy

CATHY-what was the subject for painting? hope you feel less stiff, yoga helps with that. Had a really good harp lesson, reviewed the tunes for the ensemble show and worked on grace notes and getting the timing right. A lot of "counting out loud" today BARB-have fun at the party. Show is Veteran's weekend,(ensemble, there will be about 13 of us!)-half kids and half adults. we rehearse that morning so a long day but fun. we rehearse, eat there and then do the show BETH-I am also trying to just eat right. less stress. we'll see how it goes. Halloween sort of set me back but with my HS reunion this weekend, trying to keep the res of the week eating lighter. AMY-so sorry for your friend. a cracked pelvis. I hear that's very painful. My broken hip was no picnic but I can't imagine. This was the first Halloween in 2 years I could give out candy because I wasn't on crutches! it was fun. Kids were very polite. Have a good ride waving to all. HAGD

I eat whatever I want and as much as I want. That is so great if you can do that. I would be packing the pounds back on. Yes, show at a temple this Sunday - usually do well there -taking all my menorahs etc - but with Hanukkah so late (!) this year - may be a hard sell! I hope you do well at the sale! reminded me that our church is doing a craft sale Saturday. Hopefully swimming - or something - today since it's been a couple of days since I exercised. I need to get my butt to the gym too. Or maybe a walk since the weather is so good today. The lesson on Lukas went well today. I am "getting it" more and more each time. He communicates differently then Rueben did so I am learning the new code. An example would be that to canter on Rueben it was outside leg on. For Lukas it is both legs equal pressure and indicate with the reins which lead you want. If I use my outside leg more on Lukas he just moves in because that is what he thinks I am asking for. Did some really fun jumping today. I am able to continue on where I left off with Rueben as far as my jumping goes because jumping Lukas is much easier then the flat work. So I may be able to show Pre-Adults this season which is what I wanted to move up to with Rueben. We will see how it goes. HAGD Amy

Good Morning - Faye- not so nice here Kind of dank & misty - so may wait to see if it clears! Your harp concert sounds like fun -the sounds from so many harps must be amazing!
Amy - that's interesting about cues - do you think it is that he was trained in Europe? How high are the jumps in the division you do? I remember when I finally got a blue in the 3' division I said -"that's it -I'm done" I never really felt comfortable jumping -that's when I switched to dressage!
Libby - good luck w/ closing - guess it will be a relief to have it gone & done!
Surprise party last night was fun -and he was surprised!
Dutch - how old will Allie be before you begin to back her?
I just sold a large amount of extra glass on FB page today -(now i can buy more? LOL

Good morning.
Well I had an unpleasant surprise this morning. I was checking my emails and one was from the Fraud Alert on my debit card. So I called and yes someone had hacked my card. Now I need to go to the bank and get it all straightened out and get a new debit card and the Fraud Alert cancelled my card when I confirmed an unauthorized charge. BBL

Well no charges have been taken out of my account yet so that's good news. Now we have to wait 5-10 business day for a new debit card. Bummer! We bank at a local Credit Union so things are a little slower.

Hi, all! Faye, is the ensemble the same one that was at the conference a couple of years ago? Glad you're having fun "counting" Beth, bleh...that is SO annoying. I get one of those every now and then. Would rather get an alert and resolve it before it gets out of control. Had someone use my # at a Walmart a couple of years ago. I mean...really? A Walmart??!?! Good luck! Amy, so glad you had a good lesson. Isn't it kind of fun figuring out new cues? It gives you something to work on...you wouldn't want it to be TOO easy Barb, oh boy...here she goes, getting more glass Did you sell what you weren't interested in anymore? Glad the party was fun! Libby, hope the home closures are going OK. Just did a walk yesterday. Will swim today. The weather is nice, sunny, a bit cool but shorts are OK along w/long sleeves Harp lesson tonight. Will ask her about future plans. Cathy

Good Morning - this morning as i was on the deck with the dog (at 6:15) i was able to see lots of stars very clearly (little dipper!) and all of a sudden saw a shooting star - very cool!
Cathy - yes, sold the large lot of glass I "didn't need" as well as some black & white glass stars I had been sitting on for over a year doing nothing with them -this allowed me to buy ONLY clear glass (pretty much every piece has clear on the bottom or top!)
Beth-glad the CU is on the ball!
Having breakfast at a new bagel place in town w/ a friend, then off to barn to clean & ride.

Good morning. We got a little bit of rain last night. Enough to wet the ground. Hopefully it will be a quiet day just doing some house cleaning and some laundry. Normal stuff lol.
Barb-enjoy the new bagel place with friend.
Cathy-how was the harp lesson? Did you make any future plans for harp lessons?
Libby-is today the closing of the house?
Amy-riding tonight?
Dutch-is Ally getting a winter coat?
Faye-how was your Kabbalah class?

Hi, all! Faye, let's see...I think I was there the summer of 2013 so might have been your ensemble. All ages, capabilities? Beth, glad you a bit of rain. We've had the highest rainfall in October in over 25 years...I'm not sure if that means it's going to be a wet winter OR if we're all done for the year Barb, love bagels! Hope breakfast was fun and you get in a good ride! Amy, any more lessons planned? Libby, hope the closing goes as planned today! Dutch, are you having "Ally" fun? The detail painting was a piece of lace on a wood table, and then a wood burl. We were doing wood Got in a swim yesterday...water was super-warm, almost too warm for me. Tried using swim fins at the end and went REALLY fast, almost too fast. Had calf cramps as well but I guess I was swimming too hard with them. The length of the pool got too short Will walk today. Tomorrow I'm going to check out long-term care nursing facilities. My financial advisor has been bugging me forever to look into this type of care and get insurance. A friend and I are going to check it out...a little tour that includes 3 different facilities. The one I WANT to see is a high-end place, on the site of an old seminary where I used to hike/run trails (yeah, and broke ankles). Will be...interesting. Cathy

Cathy - at least there is some way for you to continue working on the harp! So as we were out on the trail this morning (alone) we were turning on to a side trail when 2 deer jumped out in front of us about 10 feet out -now whether it's because deer are regular visitors to Penny's pasture or because she is pretty close to bomb-proof -she just took a small side step -then stood there and watched them - then calmly moved on -I love my mare!
On another subject -the place i buy alot of glass from in Florida -she is the one who does technique videos & classes is doing a monthly showcase on FB of different techniques that they have taught & what has been posted on the FB page. I am honored to be included in the first of these -keep in mind that there were 100's of photos posted for them to pick from -I was so excited.

BARB-glad you could sell the glass you don't use. hope you had a nice ride. Nice about the shooting star. BETH-well, got there and seems there was no class. Last week we had a double class because it's 2 classes 1 at 9:30 and one at 10:30 with different subjects and different teacher. so this week the other Rabbi taught both sessions. I didn't know. Luckily it's only 10 min from the house and the leaves were stunning. then went to brunch with my neighbors. CATHY-well, you want technique not arranging (is my guess) so Skype may be it. many do it. Sorry. Hope the calf cramping is gone. yes, then probably my teacher's ensemble. she has some new young ones so should be fun. LIBBY-hope all went well with the closing AMY-do you take weekly lessons? DUTCH-hope DS if finally over his cold. hope things are going better. Have fun with Ally. ALLISON-all done with decorating?
well, my 40th HS reunion is Saturday. so bought new stockings and opened it today to pack and there was a hole. so went to return it AND found a terrific dress to wear. I had something but wasn't in love but didn't feel like shopping, but since I was there... and found a great skirt for harp ensemble . The saleswoman and I totally were on the same wavelength so I'm very happy. and I did exchange the pantyhose. So won't be on the board till Sunday or MOnday (Sunday a friend from ensemble coming to play) should be fun. Many people are coming that I know so starting to get excited.
Have a good weekend everyone.
