Good morning. I'm hopping in a couple of days late, with apologies. I'm catching up today and will come back with my revised ARC. I'm working on mindful eating, am pretty good at eating seated. My primary diet is following a whole food, plant-based way of eating; I also eat two meals a day, one at noon and one at about 6. I don't really have a backup diet: I just need to do this one right.

I don't really eat when cooking. It is not generally done in our culture so it wasn't something I picked up. I will taste food if more than family is going to eat it but that is about 1/2 tsp fulls so not really a big deal.
I have slowed down the whole meal by doing it in stages. I take one item and eat it and then I get up and get the next item - so lunch takes at least 30-45 mins to eat. I'll take a big bowl of salad and eat it, then I'll get up and heat soup and eat it, etc.
A while ago I went looking for apps to help slow down the actual eating process - the mouthfuls and spacing them out. The one I used is long gone. I did find an Apple Watch app which I couldn't use because I didn't have an Apple Watch. Well, I ordered on last weekend so when it gets here I will try to find that again and try it.

One more double up because I am guessing Day 6 is not a tough one for most - continue to be in touch with or get back in touch with your coach. Need one? Ask here!
Day 7 - Manage that environment.
I will toss the rest of the problematic jelly beans when I get home.

Please keep me in the group. 2022 was a stressful year and taking care of myself went to the back burner. I have started this past week taking tiny steps, including meditation, and writing down what I’m eating.
I need to pull out my book and journals and ARC cards .

sorry my DH's brother passed away yestereday so I've been dealing with that. He was special needs and has lived in a home for years so it's a different circumstance than normal. He was a Covid long hauler. Re-working my ARCs still. The old ones resonate but I need something to kick start me. Eating seated is not so big for me but slowly and mindfully is a kicker. I will be doing Lose it. I'm on day 212 but the goal weight has moved from April to September so I need to see what that's all about. Sorry I feel like I'm rambling but wanted to say I'm still here. Thanks mare,

gemellus I'm so sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself. I'm pretty good with the mindful eating, and I've always been a slow eater anyway. I do still use the cocktail fork and demitasse spoon at home so that I'm taking smaller bites. I also make a point of putting my fork down while I'm chewing, and not gathering the next bite up ready to go immediately. Been in touch w my wonderful coach-need to get back to a more regular communication. I practice a lot of avoidance of the general GDT at this time of year, but work at keeping up with accountability threads. I have a 20 day tracking streak going.😇🤣 I just cleared out a bunch of way past expiry items from my pantry, and don't have any trigger foods currently in residence.

My shift has been taking time at the end of the day to focus on what habits I was able to incorporate. Just trying to be more mindful overall.

Having a much better day today. Still crazy work stress, but not eating through it.
I do so much better when I have a regular schedule and a plan each day. That is the energy I need to bring to this.

Morning! Going to give three tasks today. First two are Friday third is Saturday but I am away and figure I will forget to post! I will put a new one up again on Monday. Day 9 - Movement. Both spontaneous and intentional. I am great at the latter. Could use nudging on the former. Day 10 - Realistic first goal focus of 5# or less. For me a little less to get to a 5 in the middle digit. Day 11 - BIG ONE. Distinguish hunger from desire or craving. In other words, if hunger is not the question, eating is not the answer. Keep checking in, please! I check in each day. Thank you so much for posting these.
Last night a client gave me homemade cookies. I did have a few, then took the rest over to the AA meeting next door. I could have easily eaten the entire bag. And it was a GALLON size bag!!!!
Exercise. My work includes physical labor. I need to get back in the habit of intentional exercise.
Snacking. I get hungry about 3-4pm. I don’t fight it. I have planned for that. Lately, I’ve had stress induced snacking urges about 1-2pm. I have my crunchy veggies as a snack. I’ve learned that I can’t fight that urge to snack so I plan for that. Crunchy or sour (like pickled stuff) seems to do the trick.
I have been making more of an effort to check my hunger levels before eating. I often would eat breakfast without being hungry. Now I check and wait till I get to work. Checking hunger levels has made a big difference. I tend to be a ‘eat by the clock’ eater, whether I’m hungry or not. Thanks Beck for teaching me to check first!

Caught up on my reading.
Exercise is getting easier for me. I find I have more energy and I eat more healthfully when I exercise. I have incorporated a lot of spontaneous exercise into my life - I go up and down the stairs for little things, I always go to the bathroom off my bedroom - usually up a flight of stairs, sometimes two if I’m in the basement.
Making time is not an issue. Prioritizing the work is the issue and I’m getting better at it.
Hunger identification is not an issue - I can tell when I’m hungry and when I’m merely craving. Not giving in to the cravings are what I need to work on

I've really let exercise slack since we started working on the house earlier this year. I walk daily at work, but I know I need more.
I'm doing well with my tracking this week. Hell, I even made myself a salad to bring for lunch today. I've been focusing on less sugar, although not denying myself a treat if I get an urge.

I need to work on my intentional exercise. I am a sloth. because I moved to an apartment at the end of the world's longest hallway I get more walking in. Plus I do the dog walk in the morning and DH does it at night. But I have slacked off on going to the building pool and/or doing anything in terms of using my small exercise bike or videos. Time to get cracking!
