What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Hi everyone, I loved hearing yesterday about everyone’s dream trip to a destination not yet reached. I so hope that we each get to the places we want to go, whether they be Hawaii or Italy or Greece or Israel or a cruise on a river. Perhaps not this year, but in the future!
Good shabbos all! Enjoy your rest, and dream of sandy beaches, tall mountains, and gently rocking boats!
Xoxo Lynne

Ha ha! I might have just gotten back from my dream trip a few hours ago I don't know when I will be able to read all the past posts I missed so my question is about Freida - how is she? Thank you for switching with me Lynne so I could keep the week I had thought I had (namely, when I was home again!).

Tuesday morning I woke up fine, went about my morning routine fine, but when I stepped outside my door to go to weekday morning minyan, I felt a pretty bad pain in my left lower back. I couldn't remember having fallen or bumping into anything or any other incident that might have caused it. After all, if it had been that I'd slept in a wrong position or something, I'd have felt it as soon as I got out of bed, right? It was so bad that I didn't sit down when I got to minyan; I stood the whole time (easy to do and considerably better than standing then sitting then standing then sitting). When I got home, I felt so bad I cancelled my 10:00 appointment. I spent practically the entire rest of the day in the living room on the couch in front of the TV, snoozing and watching things I'd recorded. I used some arnica for the pain (you rub it on; it comes in a tube like toothpaste) and even took a Tylenol extra-strength (once in the morning, once in the afternoon; I rarely take medications of any kind, with the main exception being an antibiotic prescribed by my doctor). Wednesday the pain was less, and Thursday slightly better than Wednesday. I saw my chiropractor yesterday and felt incredibly better when I walked out of her office, but by nighttime, some of the pain came back and I woke up this morning with slightly more pain than late yesterday. It's muscle-related pain and I still have no idea what's causing it. I'm fine as long as I don't move my back, so no twisting which, in case you aren't consciously aware, is really difficult to accomplish. We twist our bodies doing just regular normal living. I'm sitting as still as I can while typing this. I'm not planning to go to services in person tonight or tomorrow. Looking forward to a really restful Shabbes.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well (or getting there) and SAFE! hollygail, I hope you feel better soon! Re today's topic: I liked reading about everyone's dream trips too. Maybe someday there will be resorts on the moon, who knows? DS and I are planning on taking it easy today, since yesterday was a busy day. We have half a watermelon in the fridge waiting for us to snack on it, yum. I'm really excited about increasing my dosage of Ozempic this weekend, and hope that all goes well. Have a peaceful day and weekend, Lee

Yikes, Holly, I hope you're feeling better! Does heat or ice maybe help with the pain?
I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and now I have my mammogram scheduled and am waiting for the authorization for my colonoscopy. Reminder to anyone who may be due for any screenings or checkups: MAKE THOSE APPOINTMENTS!
Thank you for a nice relaxing week, Lynne! Shabbat shalom to all!
