What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy

Thank you for coming along with me in my travelog. I hope the stories were at least interesting. Here is a poem I found on the Velveteen Rabbi that I thought could be fitting:
The Wild Rose Sometimes hidden from me in daily custom and in trust, so that I live by you unaware as by the beating of my heart,
Suddenly you flare in my sight, a wild rose blooming at the edge of thicket, grace and light where yesterday was only shade,
and once again I am blessed, choosing again what I chose before.

I have very much enjoyed hearing about your trip, Louise! Thank you for taking us along, as it were. Yesterday's in particular sticks with me. The former cantor (the only cantor...) from my congregation retired and moved to New Mexico. He returned to graduate school one more time and earned another degree, this time in archeology. He posted (on Facebook) numerous pictures of digs he's been on. I'm fascinated by such things! Thank you again for this so very interesting week!
Our next Zoom get together is scheduled for this coming Sunday. I've heard from Peachy (yes), Lee (probably), and I think both Beryl and Lynn may have said either "no" or "probably not" (if I'm mistaken about any of these, please correct me). And if Sundays are never or rarely good for anyone, please email me with which day/s and time/s work for you. I used to have a Zoom get together with my undergraduate friends who asked to switch from Sundays to Mondays (we're all the same age and all of us are retired, so it was and is easy for us to meet during the week during the day). If it's easier for the contributors of Jewish Musings to meet during the week / during the day, I'm more than willing to switch...
And I do have one mundane question for everyone. Is Peachy our next thread starter? Because some of us have traded weeks, I think Peachy starts in two days which means I start the thread on July 23 (Frieda isn't ready to resume yet). Thank you, everybody.
Gut Shabbes / Shabbat Shalom to all.

Good morning everybody! Hope you are all well and SAFE! I've been wondering about what week I will start the leads too. Somebody please tell me. As for meeting during the week, that would depend on the week. It's probably easier for me to stick with Sundays, but that could change. I should be able to take part in this week's get together; we'll be cooking, as usual, but I think it'll work out. Re today's topic: louise, I've loved hearing about your trip, too. Re the poem: I liked it. Have a peaceful day, Lee
