What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE!
Today's topic: What possessions do you have a lot of? Are you comfortable with that?
Books. I have a LOT of books, and between DH, DS and me, we have a houseful. We have books in practically every room; mostly in bookcases (some homemade) but also some stacked up here and there. I am pretty comfortable with having so many, except when I can't find what I want. I/we try to keep them organized, but it's not always possible.
Our main category is science fiction, since we all like to read it. Our entire downstairs is full of bookcases of SF, with anthologies upstairs. Fantasy is mixed in.
Some of our other categories: literature, cookbooks, travel, Jewish themes, mysteries, and self-help. We also have a fair scattering of history and essays.
How about you? Have a peaceful day, Lee

Good morning! It's already 71 degrees with 70% humidity, and it's not even 6:30 a.m. I don't think I have to go anywhere today, thank God.
We have a lot fewer books than we used to, but still a lot of them. I finally gave away all the books that we're never going to read again, and I usually buy fiction on my Kindle rather than having to find space for a physical book. But I still have plenty of nonfiction books, like Jewish books, language dictionaries, psychology/self-help books, etc. I can't imagine a home without books. It would feel very unfriendly.
We have a lot of CDs too, even though we've put them all digitally on our computer. I still like to play actual CDs. I do feel comfortable having a lot of music and books; for most of my life, these things have been my primary source of entertainment, learning and delight.
Is it too early to start drinking iced tea?

We have a lot (way too many) old photos. We have been avoiding doing that thing where you put everything on the computer. A few years ago, I went through the photo boxes, and threw away duplicates and a lot of shots we no longer wanted. But we still have several large (LARGE) boxes and they take up way too much room .
Speaking of heat, Peachy, it is SOOOOO hot and humid here.

It seems I have a lot of shoes. Trying to make myself get rid of ones I don't wear anymore. I also have alot of books but I'm in publishing so, of course. We make beautiful artbooks and I long ago severely restricted myself on bringing any more home! I read novels on my kindle which saves a lot of storage grief but I still own a lot of novels. Maybe I should thin this out but.....I also have too many clothes because I have several sizes. The hope is as I get rid of my larger sizes I will never need those again (been there, done that but there's always the hope this will be the last time arou nd!).
