What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning! I normally don’t attend our monthly work happy hours, precisely because I don’t do well with the eating challenges. But last week I wanted to go, because my boss had just announced that day that he’s retiring at the end of this month. This came as a total shock to me (and everyone else on the team as well). He’s in his mid-fifties and just decided he wants to spend a lot more time traveling with his wife and visiting their kids, etc., etc. Good for him! But he’s been a great boss, and I will miss him. In fact, I have been lucky that every boss I’ve had at this job in 19 years has been wonderful, and I appreciate that very much.
My new boss is a Sr. VP who lives in Florida. I’ve never met him, though I’ve seen his face on Zoom and Teams. He seems like a nice guy. We’ll set up regular one-on-one meetings, and I’ll communicate with him as things come up, but it seems strange to me to report to someone so far away, even though that’s the case for many people on our team. I guess this is just something new to get used to as a result of all of us being fully remote workers.
Anybody have any new arrangements coming up, whether with work or otherwise, because of the new world order, so to speak?

Shalom, chaverot. Well, never a dull moment. I was diagnosed with breast cancer today.
It's not an offshoot of the Merkel skin cancer, which is actually very good news. It's better to have 2 Stage 1 cancers that are unrelated than one cancer with metastases. This type of breast cancer is called papillary carcinoma, a slow growing and non-aggressive cancer, which is good news. The tumor is in my right breast, which is also good news since I very recently had sentinal lymph node dissection on the right side and won't need to repeat that, I think. Basically, I need to do surgery to take out the breast lesion and it's small, so I'm guessing a lumpectomy will do it, which is good news too. I'll have to wait and see if there's any follow-up to this surgery. So, now I have one area defined, one piece of the investigative work that was triggered by the 2nd Pet Scan. I have more imaging to do - a CT of the lung and an MRI of the adrenal gland scheduled in about a week. So, except for the fact that I have another cancer, it's good news. As Borat said, "Strong woman from Kazakhstan!"

The “new world order” in my life MAY be that my DH may either retire or cut back at work. He is thinking about going to a system where he simply lets them know when he is available, and if they need him, they say “come in.” Sort of like a substitute teacher, except he’s a doctor. He may also choose to simply extend his current schedule, which is 2 days a week. (It sounds “easy”, but as a regular employee, he is bound by certain rules that may no longer make sense for us and for him.)
I will adjust, but it will be for sure be an adjustment, with a capital “A”.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well (or getting healthier) and SAFE!
Re today's topic: The only real change in my life is that it is harder for me to get around, even with my walker. I do my best though.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

For the opst part the new world order is working for me. I love that Id on't have to go into the office with any regularity. Was planning to go in today but have other things goi ng on so will work remotrly. Sometimes I actually feel guilty!
Yesterday a little better with food. More reasonable intake and closer to my IF hours. Have suspended food delivery program. Not sure what I want to do (except got back into something!). Feeli ng I should post my food somewhere.
