What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Just wanted to get us on the board until Holly posts a topic. I want to go on record that I do0n't want (another) lazy day today. When I finish this post I am goi ng to do my strngth training, then get dressed. I also need to study my torah readings today. Food was reasonable yesterday (if not ideal). I seem to be back on IF, which is something of a relief.

Thank you, Louise.
Today's topic is about the portion of the week. Here's one summary of Ki Tavo, "when you enter" (the land...) there are some rules to follow (the portion that ended yesterday contained something like 74 of the 613 mitzvot in Torah).
Parashat Ki Tavo continues the theme of social justice that is such a major part of Deuteronomy. It describes three rituals that Israelites, both as individuals and as an entire community, had to perform upon entrance into the Land of Israel. Each of those rituals expresses gratitude at having arrived in the land, but they tie that gratitude to a sense of memory — of where the Israelites have come from, and the circumstances that have produced their history. The portion, however, ends with a ghastly passage: a list of the catastrophes that would befall the Jewish people if they failed to abide by the covenant.
In your life, what have been some of the blessings you've experienced? What are some blessings you'd like to experience at some point in your life?

My list of blessings is very long. It includes good health, friends, a nice apartment, a job I love, a nurturing synagogue community. I could go on and on. I would like to meet a special someone and I would like to be free of my food struggles.

Good morning everybody (by a few minutes). Hope you are all well and SAFE!
Re today's topic: The main blessing I would appreciate would be better health.
Have a peaceful rest of the day, Lee

I've been blessed with some wonderful people in my life, some of whom have given me direction when I needed it, and love, always love. The best blessing of all.
I am also blessed with good health care. Every health issue that has come up has been non-life-threatening and treatable, and for that I am grateful. I can ask questions, learn about my conditions, and trust my doctors and other health care professionals.
One blessing I would like to experience is the blessing of grandchildren, but that may not be in my future. If not, I'm happy with my kids and are happy that they're happy.
