Good morning!
I think everything is back to normal now. Came home to a very hot and stuffy house with no electricity. When it's like that it's hard to do anything, so I didn't do much. Yesterday I decided to drive around in my car in the air conditioning, so I filled it up with gas, got an icy cold drink and drove down to the Refuge. Apparently six flamingos either blew in or flew in and so there were crowds of photographers with their giant long lenses taking pictures. I read on Facebook that they were seen later farther west, so who knows where they'll be today.
The power came back on very soon after I got home from my little drive, so we spent the afternoon trying to get the house cooled down. It's thundering now and will be rainy all day so that will keep the temperatures down a bit.
I've got two tutoring sessions today so I'll be out most of the day.
Lynn, I hope you are having a wonderful time. I must admit I don't know what a tasting menu is. Looks like more family is going to join you -- enjoy!
Joyce, I hope that cooler weather continues for you!
Esther, I worry about that leak. Is someone coming to look at it?

Maryenne, it's good to read your post this morning and know that all is well for you there. Glad your electricity is back on!
Lynn, waving to you in San Francisco. How long will you be staying?
Esther, sorry about the stained ceiling. I hope it can be repaired without a lot of effort and that there is no mold or anything as a result.
It is going to be another beautiful day here. We are looking forward to step-son #2 and our grandson's visit this weekend. They'll be coming tomorrow. Fingers crossed that all goes well as step-son travels with our grandson as he is our autistic grandson, so anything requiring disruption to his routine makes it difficult for him. If you're familiar with autism, different children have different levels and it manifests in different ways. Our grandson at 7 is just beginning to say words that we can understand. He also will only eat certain foods, and right now the only thing he will eat is Fruit Loops cereal, but only in the individual cup containers. So I got that for him at the grocery yesterday. He will also eat Pizza Hut pan pizza, but it must be Pizza Hut (he recognizes the box) and it can not have anything on it except sauce, and he wants it to have extra sauce. So really he's eating bread and sauce. I can order that for him. He is very sweet, and we are all excited that we are starting to see some progress with him.

We are here until Tuesday. DBIL’s party is Sunday night at his friend’s restaurant, which he has closed for the night for the party. The rest of the family is coming in today, one niece arrives tomorrow. We are having a family only dinner at the restaurant tonight. It’s very small excellent food- French flair with some Asian influences. Esther, I am sorry about the roof leak. Will the condo insurance pay for the damage? maryenne , I am glad that you didn’t have a lot of damage from the hurricane. It sounds like you are settling back in. nashville11 , enjoy the visit with your stepson and grandson. It’s good to know his specific preferences and make the meals something he doesn’t have to stress about. Have a peaceful day. Lynn |
