Then I am taking the rest of the day off to just read and watch football. I will get out for my walk as soon as Doug leaves this morning. I also want to dust the family room.

Good Morning Y'all,
Happy Fall!!!! It's a nice crisp 65 degrees here this morning. I've been outside for a bit. My scarecrow needs a little TLC, so I brought it in from the garage to do repairs, then will get back outside. Thought I'd stop in and say hello.
I got up with some new resolve this morning. Actually journaled my breakfast...ha...now to do it for more than one meal! And I didn't turn the TV on, even for just a little while during breakfast (those little whiles are getting longer and longer). And I did my hand exercises. I have some simple hand exercises that help with pain in my hands. They were hurting me a lot yesterday after spending a good bit of time on the computer...so, a new resolve to journal, cut out the junk food and do my hand exercises. I also have leg/knee exercises...I need to add them too.
For today, I will be spending most of the morning outside. Working in my garage flower bed then going out to the fairy woods.
Everyone should have the invite for the Cafe 2024 group. It's not a searchable group, so you have to follow the link from the invite. Annie, I sent you a reminder to help you find it.
OK...time to fix my scarecrow!
(((HUGS))) all, Peggy ^..^

Good morning - another cool start to our day here - even had a few sprinkles when I was making coffee this morning. Greg & I are taking our walk in up a trail toward a spring that's in the hills to the west of us as soon as I'm done here. We've done it before but didn't find the spring - maybe we will this time, if we get that far. The high today is only forecast at 84. It's just under 70 now at 7 AM.
I had a good day yesterday - the Giant's game was on AppleTV - another thing I refuse pay for - so I had to listen to it on the radio - which was fine as I do it often already. But it got cool outside - I should have grabbed a blanket and pretended I was at the Game in SF! But I came inside and sat on our couch!
Work was work - bla, bla, bla.
I have to run - I only have 15 minutes before we leave for our walk - have a good day everyone
Sue

Good Saturday morning. I'm procrastinating getting out for my walk but I have to do it here soon. I just walked a mile yesterday. I decided to clean house instead while Joe was doing his walk. Glad that's all done. I was going to try to clean some kitchen cabinets today but don't think that is going to happen. I am just so tired. I've not slept well for quite some time and it is catching up with me. I lay awake from 12:30am until after 5 this morning. Finally dozed off for a bit and just got up at 6:45am. I'm tired. And my back and hips are screaming. I may have to see about some PT when we get back from our vacation. I broke down and took some ibuprofen last night and it did take the edge off. But I really don't want to keep taking that stuff either. This aging thing sure isn't for sissies!
Joe and I walked uptown for the homecoming parade at 2pm yesterday. The boys were riding in the parade with the golf team. Their moms had to work so they asked if I could try to get a few pictures. Mission accomplished! Back in the day we used to decorate floats the whole week of homecoming but that has gotten outrageously expensive so they don't do that anymore. This will be Owen's first homecoming. I can't wait to see him and Bryce all dressed up in photos tonight. No one mentioned anything about us coming for pictures, so I guess we won't do that. I would like to see them, tho. They didn't ask dates. They are both going with different groups of friends. Amy is driving 5 boys to Edwardsville for dinner first at Buffalo Wild Wings before the dance. And Bryce is going with his friend Ashton (Brad's nephew that lives across the street from us). Ashton just got his license in July. And so it begins. This grandma will be doing a lot of praying!
We have the Sportsman's Club family picnic tonight after church, so I'll need to put something together to share for the meal. Otherwise after my walk I think I'll get the suitcases out and start packing for our trip. It looks like highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 40s. So, jeans and sweatshirts should be perfect. We have a VRBO near Bar Harbor for 4 nights and another in Lincoln, NH for 3 nights and both have a washer/dryer so I don't plan to overpack. I'll throw in a load of wash if we need it. Joe's back nor mine is up to dragging heavy luggage too far.
Joe did go to the homecoming football game last night. I stayed home. I was too tired to do anything. I was in my pjs by 6:30pm, turned on Netflix and watched a movie. I was a total slug.
So this morning I got up and got our bills paid for the month. I wanted to get that all done before our trip. I'll get this walk in and then concentrate on packing. Joe is doing the tootsie roll drive for the KCs from noon until 2 today. Then we will go to mass then out to the Sportsmans Club for the picnic.
We have a warm day on tap before hopefully some rain moves in tomorrow to cool things down again. A high of 87 predicted for us today. We've had our doors and windows open for 2 weeks but I'll be turning the ac back on today. It has been nice to have some fall weather this year. Most years lately we have gone from ac to heat.
I better get some stretching done and get this walk in. Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Good morning, Café friends,
I decided to go to my weight workout first before I came to the boards. Saturdays are always so busy first thing in the morning. Robin just left for the storage unit to stash Tracy’s TV and the box from our new one, and when he gets back, we’ll head out to the airport (I wish he’d go alone) and after he’s done checking to see if anyone is there, we’ll head over to the Waypoint restaurant and stand in a huge line to eat lunch there. They have excellent food there so I’m going to get my Serrano burger made into a salad with Baja salsa for the dressing. It’s nice that he wants to take me to lunch, but I don’t need to stand around and talk to Greg or Dave for a half hour before we head to the restaurant. But the man just won’t do anything by himself anymore and I’m feeling a little smothered. I like and need a little alone time, so I’ll relish the half hour or so that I have right now, LOL.
Tonight we’re going to see a Steely Dan tribute band so expect lots of good jazz. It’s local again so that’s nice that we can stay close to home. The venue is pretty decent and is smallish so it’s a more intimate setting. This particular band should appeal to a lot of us baby boomers, so I don’t expect a lot of rowdiness.
We had really strange weather last night. I woke up last night at 2:30 to a downpour. It only lasted a few minutes, but in the 50 years I’ve been here, I don’t recall ever having a rainstorm in September. It’s still our dry season. The air smelled so fresh - we sleep with our windows open and I could smell the earth and the ozone, a combo that I love!
We spent just over an hour yesterday setting up and programming the new TV. It’s lighter than our other one, even though it’s bigger. It came with lots of streaming sites already, i.e. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney +, etc. Then I added the apps that I have on my iPad, STARZ, and MAX. Since I have HBO and STARZ with my spectrum account, I can use the streaming apps. The resolution is better than our other one and if anything, we may turn the brightness down a bit. It’s got a lot of bells and whistles and it’s definitely smarter than I am. The remote is tiny and it charges with a solar cell!
That’s about all the news from here. I’m happy we’re being proactive regarding our reunion. Vegas area would be cool since we can drive there and save money by not having to fly. If we do a mid week trip, there are usually discount packages offered at the hotels.
I hope you all are having a great day!
