What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody! Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please continue praying for Israel.
Sorry to be late today, but I had computer problems. It took DS and me well over an hour to fix them; how we did so without talking with Verizon tech support, I don't know. Yay us!!
Today's topic: Jews in many places
There are Jews in every continent, including Antarctica. We are an adventurous people! In some cases, we have had to flee places we have lived; in others, we just wanted to see new places. I think that is part of our identity.
As for Antarctica, I know of people who have gone as tourists and loved it. I don't know if there have been any scientists based in the research stations, but I wouldn't be surprised if there have been.
We have even been in space! And someday, will help live on other planets, I'm sure.
How about you? What are some places you have been? How about places you would like to go?
As for me, I've been around most of the USA; Canada (three times); Panama (three years); and the UK (my HS chorale was invited to an international music festival). I'd like to go back to the UK, and I'd also like to experience the TCM cruise. I would love to meet people connected with the movies, and I think it would be a LOT of fun.
What have you done or would you like to do? Our group is so interesting!!
Have a peaceful day, Lee

What's the TCM cruise? You all know I was recently in Israel and Turkey. I have also been to England, France, China, Italy, and Japan - almost all from work! I have enjoyed the traveling and hope to do more My cousin was supposed to go to Israel this week. I don't know what will be but am very frightened. As for more traveling I always wanted to go to Hawaii (that may have changed this hear too) and to the Grand Canyon.
Very difficult to stay on track these days, they weigh so heavy.

I have been to Hawaii a few times and enjoyed it immensely. We're planning a trip to the Grand Canyon for a year from now, after DH has his other hip replaced, which will hopefully be in the spring (after DS32's wedding). Not much else in the way of travel plans, but I do very much enjoy hearing about everyone else's.
My sister in Kentucky was taken to the emergency room about an hour ago - they think it's appendicitis. Waiting very anxiously for an update from DBIL. I might be flying to Kentucky this weekend.

Louise, Me too, I want to go to Hawaii, but I'd like to get there via a cruise ship, not airplane...
I've lived many places including (although I may not remember them in the exact sequence) [born and raised in Queens,] New York City, and visited Washington, DC numerous times (many to demonstrate with Martin Luther King) plus north (with my family of origin through New England, and also visited Montreal for the Worlds Fair (was it in 1964? if 1968, then I visited while living in Buffalo); Buffalo, NY (and visited Toronto frequently while living in Buffalo); Cambridge, Mass; Santa Cruz, CA; back to Cambridge, Mass. (where my DS was born); Los Angeles; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; San Jose, CA (including countless visits to San Francisco and environs; also ); Tucson, AZ (plus visits to other parts of Arizona and Mexico); and finally here in San Diego County since August of 1989. While here, I've been to numerous places in Mexico (mostly in the state immediately south of here, Baja California, although more than just in Tijuana). I've also been to Vancouver, BC several times, plus several other cities (and towns) in British Columbia, Canada. One time, while living in Los Angeles, I drove north into British Columbia, stopping man places along the way (not only along the coast in California but also in Oregon and Washington State).
While living in Europe, took day or weekend trips to many other parts of Holland and to Belgium. Before returning to the US, drove south through Holland, Belgium, France (and Monaco), and across the Mediterranean through Italy (LOVED Florence!), across Yugoslavia (with stops in Sarajevo and other towns), into Greece and across to a small island whose name I don't remember (it's considered a tourist place ONLY for residents of Athens! no foreigners; while we were there, we bumped into the wife of a Dutch student of marine life and met her for an afternoon snack while her husband was off the coast diving for whatever research he was doing). Between the two of us travelers from Amsterdam, we spoke at least 6 languages between us: English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and German, plus I could read both the Greek alphabet and the Cyrillic alphabet). We met different local people almost every day on that little island, speaking at least one of the languages we had in common with each one. What a great year that was!

We used to live near Gaza, on Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, in the mid 1970s. My husband was Chief Medical Officer of an army base nearby. He was also the visiting general doctor for Sderot and a couple other small towns in the area. Our kibbutz grew mangos, and it was a little piece of paradise back then, especially for the kids. I'm praying the hostages come back unharmed and that the IDF is able carry out its mission to destroy Hamas.
