What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: We haven't talked about this much lately, so I'm wondering how everyone's weight loss journey is going? Or maintenance, if you are at that stage. Anything you want to share?
For me, the Ozempic is continuing to work, slowly but surely. I'm still waiting to hear from my endocrinologist that hopefully Blue Cross/Blue Shield will pre-approve me for next year. I can't remember if I've written about this in our thread, so forgive me if I am repeating myself, please. BC/BS has a new policy, starting in January, that they have to pre-approve people for meds like Ozempic. I think that is outrageous; medicine is supposed to be decided by doctors, not insurance companies. However, they do take care of almost all of the price (or at least they have been doing so), and I hope they continue to do that. I hope I get pre-approved and can continue on the Ozempic!!
I've been steadily losing some weight, and am very happy about that. However, what I eat is having sudden and drastic changes, up and down. For example, I lost five pounds this last week, but put three back on due to late night snacking. It amazes me how fast a little indulgence shows up on the scale!! Hopefully, it will come off as quickly as it went on!!
BTW, on Thursday, I'll be seeing my Scrabble friend for the first time in awhile (she had her appendix out). I'm curious to know if she will see any difference in how I look. I'm not going to prompt her! However, it would be nice to get some reinforcement.
So what's going on with your WLJ?
Have a peaceful day, Lee

Congrats on the weight loss, Lee! And while I do agree with you in theory that doctors should decide about medicine rather than insurance companies, there is rampant fraud when it comes to prescription drugs, and it's understandable that the entity paying for them wants to rein that in. Your case of course is aboveboard and appropriate, so I hope your insurance carrier doesn't give you a hard time about it.
My WI day is Friday, and last Friday I lost 1.2 pounds, which made me happy. I need to start taking my measurements again too, because that's more interesting to me. And I have to remember to schedule indulgences for myself so I don't feel deprived and binge on a package of cookies.
In about an hour, I'm going to get a mani-pedi - the nail salon I like is open on Sundays, and I like to get there first and be their first customer. It's breezy and clear here today and is expected to get up to 80 degrees, so I imagine the nail salon will get busy. This one has a lot of male clients; almost every time I go, there's a man getting a manicure, or more often, a pedicure. I usually get a shoulder/neck massage as well, and I've noticed the men will often ask for one too, after they see me enjoying mine. I really like the people at this salon, so if I can help stimulate business, that makes me happy too.

Best laid plans and all that - I left shul theoretically in time to get to the memorial service all the way out on Long Island. I did not listen to Waze (becasue I knew better) and it ended up taking me 2 hours to get across Manhattan (norally 15 minutes or less). I missed the memorial service but got there in time to throw some dirt into the grave and had dinner with everyone, heard more stories, etc. so it was still good. But somhow I ate everythin in sight. I was the same today. So how is WLJ go ng? Unfortuantely my efforts are erratic but I do seem to be improving in understanding myself. I think that both IF and WW are good for me but guess what? It only work if you work it!
