Over 60 and still working/ Monday

Good morning!

Heading out to the eye doctor with DH. Hope it’s the only one this week. 

Everything is in place for Thursday. It’s just DD and her family, my niece and her daughter. DS has to work and his kids will drop by late in the afternoon. Our best friends will be here too. They are like family.

Good morning,

Lynn, I hope this is the last eye doctor for your DH for a while. Your Thanksgiving plans sound very nice.

I'm going to actually get dressed today and go to the bank and post office. John and I have a joint account and I need them to close it and put the $49 into my regular account. He had several automatic payments coming out of that account - I think I have notified them all and if not, who cares? I also need to send some of his books out to some standing orders that were on his website. James was able to get in there and shut the sales page down, so there won't be any more.

We decided to go to St. Augustine Beach for Christmas...I might have said that already, but I did book a hotel yesterday for two nights.

This week, I'm going to try to go to yoga tomorrow and I have a telephone therapy appointment on Wednesday.

I closed an account that had automatic payments coming out of it when I moved to this house. I had to pay a lot of $$ in fees to fix that. Be careful with that joint account.

Esther, automatic payments are good until they aren’t”t. Fortunately I had no problems with the accounts when my father passed away.

Hello everyone!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning. It was just a routine visit but they always do fasting labs so no breakfast for me. DH and I went out for lunch, and now I have another doctor's appointment this afternoon. That one I always dread as it is with my gyno, and is a six month follow-up. I hope I will soon only have to do that once a year, but for now it is what it is. At least I like this doctor a lot. She's about my daughter's age and cute as can be. I like our regular PCP as well, but this was the last time I will see him as he is retiring at the end of the year so will be referring us to someone new starting in January.

As I was coming home from the first doctor I got a text from DGD. They're out of school this week, and she wanted to know if I could take her and her friend to Sephora. She knows I'm a soft touch. 😂 I had to tell her no because of my afternoon appointment, but I did tell her I would take them another day this week if they can work that out. So yes, I am a soft touch, but so glad that she feels comfortable calling and asking me for favors like that.

Maryenne, I think your Christmas plan sounds like a good idea, and I'm glad you're getting the banking and other items taken care of. I remember there was quite a lot to do when my parents passed. It's good that you are pushing yourself to be out and about even though I'm sure it can't be easy.

Lynn, your Thanksgiving sounds very nice. It's great to have close friends who feel like family members to share these special times with. We've moved around so much over the years, that while we have friends we don't have any that we would feel as close as family.

Esther, so glad the dance was a success and that you are going to be able to become more active again. The nursing home social worker I would think would be very helpful to you in applying for Medicaid for Don. Your Thanksgiving sounds nice too, and it's good that you can socialize again with your ex-son-in-law. It will probably feel awkward at first, but will get easier. It still seems very strange to me when I am around my daughter's dad, but over the years I have gotten used to it as much as I think one can. He's her father and she loves him, my grandchildren love him, and so I try to put the past into the past as best I can.

The nursing home social worker does not see the Medicaid application as part of her job. She told me to contact the business office. I have left two messages with them but no answer so far.
I’m afraid I will be left alone with the problem of Donald’s finances.
