Oh, Esther, I am so sorry about Ruby. I know the loss of our dear pets leaves a huge hole in our hearts and I'm just so sorry.
I had a tough day yesterday, but I'm feeling better today. I'm doing some postcards to voters that I'll need to mail later. Also scheduled a blood draw and dexascan.
It's chilly here and is going to freeze tonight, so DH has already done his routine of bringing the hanging baskets up onto the covered porch.

Esther, you gave Ruby a good life. My condolences. maryenne , I am glad you are having a better day. It’s warming up this afternoon and the sun is out. The storm has moved on, but what an impact it had on so many. Some people are still without power. We are very fortunate. I am so glad we had the trees near the house taken down earlier this year. Waving to Joyce. I need to run to the university and get the papers that students left for me and then a quick stop at CVS. Sending peaceful wishes to all. Lynn

Good morning everyone!
Esther, I am so sorry about Ruby. I know that you must be very sad, but as Lynn said I hope it comforts you to know that you gave Ruby a good life. You rescued her when things could have gone so much differently for her, and her last years were spent in comfort with lots of love. Thinking of you today.
Maryenne, good for you doing the get out the vote cards! I want to do that again this year as well, but will wait until a bit later to contact them. I know it almost sounds like a cliché, but 2024 truly is a time when it is extra important to vote. I really believe our country is at the edge of a precipice.
Lynn, glad that you did not have any storm damage. The news sounded like it must have been really bad with the terrible wind and rain.
It's colder here and will only be in the 40s today. This is DH's special family day, Sveti Nikola, so I have the candle out and we went out for a special lunch at a restaurant we don't normally go to so it was a nice change. Yesterday was fun doing the Christmas party for the pre-kindergarten school. There were 160 kids mostly 4 year olds with a few 3 and 5s. We went to each individual classroom reading a Christmas book and serving milk and cookies. One of our members does an impersonation of Mrs Claus, and she was there in costume. For 30 something years she and her husband did this together for hospitals and charities. He passed away about 8 years ago, but she continues the tradition. Definitely all those kids put us in the holiday spirit. They were cute!
One funny story from yesterday, I was reading a book to a classroom of 4 year olds. A little girl came up and gave me a big hug and said, "You must be a Granny!" Yes, I told her I am a granny. When I finished the book, she walked me to the door and peeked out into the hallway. Several other club members were out there. She saw them, and gasped, "There's a LOT of grannies here!" We all got a good laugh out of that.

Hello friends
This has been a sad day. I am so used to her habit of following me from room to room and settling down wherever I was. I know she had a good life for the last 3 years and she was good company for me. She was a sweet dog.
Maryenne Thinking of you in the holiday season. Is it very cold where you are?
Joyce The children’s Christmas party sounds like fun. DH’s holiday must be interesting.
Lynn I’m glad you missed the high winds. That was quite a storm.
