What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE. Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Planning. How do you plan what you are going to do?
This is particularly relevant for me today, as I have some things on my mind. I got a letter last night from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, saying that I had been turned down for pre-approval for Ozempic for next year. Fortunately, I had just received a shipment, so I'll be okay through mid-May. However, I need to talk with them about what they will approve for weight loss. I also plan on talking with my endocrinologist about what she can do to get me approved for a new medication.
Planning is important for me. Once I do my research, I then decide what I want to do and then figure out how to go about it. As you know, I am big on making lists and keeping calendars. These help me organize my thoughts and future actions (more on this tomorrow).
Also, we are getting our new stove today. DH and I just looked at peel and stick tiles for a backsplash. I picked out a nice multi-colored Tuscan pattern, and he is going to order it.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I make an Excel spreadsheet every Sunday that maps out my schedule for the coming week. I use it as a guide for an email I then send to the parents of the kids I tutor, plus to the adults I tutor. I've been doing this at least since the beginning of the pandemic. It keeps (literally, in front of me) all my appointments and anything else I've planned for the entire week (like in-person activities such as my Wednesday walking and my online activities like the classes/webinars for which I've registered). Speaking of which, I'm going to send a reminder to a specific group of people with whom I meet on the last Monday of the month every month that we moved this month's meeting to this evening (since some of us are Catholic and celebrate Dec. 25, which falls on the last Monday this month)...

I have a sort of running to do list, and I also put everything on my electronic calendar on my iPad . I use the function where it shows a month at a time so that I can look ahead to what’s happening for the week, and then the week after, etc.
I think of myself as a visual person: I need to SEE it spelled out. So doing an actual list works well for me.
Next week, I have the Atlanta family visiting , which includes adults , a dog, and 4 extra teens to feed. And because they are strictly kosher, it is like a military operation. I need to plan every single meal , make sure we don’t eat dairy too soon after we eat meat, etc. Planning is 5e entire key to success here!

We plan our menus every Saturday night for the following week, so we can go to the store and butcher on Sunday morning. I dislike shopping, even food shopping, so DH usually does that without me. We do change our minds some nights about what we want to eat, but planning does a lot to help us control costs and manage our eating.
I stopped at the store on the way home from the gym this morning to buy bananas. They just put in four self-service registers, which I really do not like. I can use them just fine, but I much prefer to have a human checker help me. Ugh!
On a happier note, I've done so well with my eating this week that I can have pancakes for breakfast, which I'm going to go make right now. Yum!
