What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Carrying out plans. How do you do this? Do you think you are good at this?
For me, I think I am pretty good at carrying out my plans, with the help of my lists and calendars. I write down what I want to do and how I plan to do these things, and often check them off. I've been known to write things down and check them off, when I've already done them! This helps me feel more accomplished.
Of course, I generally have a "Plan B" for when life gets in the way of following my lists. I like to feel I can roll with the flow rather than get frustrated when plans don't always work out.
For instance, I was feeling very upset about being rejected for pre-approval of Ozempic for next year. I talked it over with friends and family, and realized I could contact the mail-order pharmacy (which I did) and my endocrinologist (I had to leave a message), and that I could go back to researching different types of weight loss medications (which I'll be working on).
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I'm good at carrying out plans; organization is my strength, and I like the feeling of accomplishment from completing things on my list or schedule.
Today is the second day of pouring rain - I'm really glad we planned ahead and don't need groceries or to do errands. DH does have a consultation this morning with the orthopedic surgeon, but he'll allow extra time to get there and back. DH needs his other hip replaced, and we want to get that scheduled after DS33's wedding.
Everyone stay warm and dry!

I am good with carrying out plans IF I have a deadline. If I don’t have a deadline, I often let my plans drift ….

When confronted with an actual problem, my organizational skills come into play and I make a plan and carry it out. Most of the time, my planning is limited by what's going on. Only one example: my weekly schedule. I plan to attend weekday morning services and that goes onto my Excel spreadsheet. Then I plug in what webinars / classes I've signed up for on which days at what times. Then in go the names of the people I tutor (adults and kids). Kids get afternoons (after they get home from school) and adults who aren't working outside the home get morning or early afternoon times. Then whatever else. I stick to my plan and my life is organized.
Next week is our 24th wedding anniversary (and a few days later, the 30th anniversary of when we met). We're either going to or taking out food from a local Thai vegan restaurant (it was Thai and vegetarian when we first found it). We both really like the food there.
