What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone, having a hard time believing that this is the last day of 2023!
Looking back on your year, can you pick one moment which you'd like to share, in which you were particularly happy, or even simply particularly content?
I had a moment of pure joy just this past week. I had all of my grandchildren at the table. The boys were eating like there was no tomorrow, and the girls were being, at least, polite. We were having a fun, teenaged kind of conversation. No one was fighting with their sibling. When the kids asked for more food, they said "please." I stopped for a moment to thank God that I had such lovely (at least temporarily) grandchildren. It was a singular moment.
What moment do you remember from 2023 that brought you joy?

Good morning everybody. Here's hoping we are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I think one of my happiest moments of this past year was when I realized that I'd lost almost 25 pounds, with a total of almost 60 from my highest weight. There were lots of other joyous moments when I hit milestones.
I have been happy when I've realized that my friends and family really do care about me.
I have been happy when I've succeeded at tasks that were difficult, and when I've gotten help when I asked for it.
Happy? Joyous? Ecstatic? The words bring a smile to my face. I appreciate the gratitude thread on the main board, because it reminds me to look for moments that enrich my life.
I will try and get back later; I am going to try and stay awake to watch the crystal ball come down over NYC.
Happy 2024, everyone, with so many warm thoughts!!
Have a peaceful day, Lee

Good morning and shavua tov!
Back in May, when I had my hysterectomy, I got a visit from one of the surgeons the next day while I was still in the hospital. She come to just check on how I was doing; she sat down in the guest chair and chatted with me for about twenty minutes. We talked about our families and our jobs, and when I told her I was an executive assistant, her face lit up. She said she had great respect and appreciation for people who do support jobs like mine, because without us, she wouldn't be able to do what she does. She made me feel very happy, by coming to visit me and by making that statement. This is the first thing that sprang to my mind when you asked about a particular moment.
I'm not sorry to see 2023 go. I am looking forward to 2024, especially to my son's wedding, and I hope that sets the tone for the rest of the year!

Sometimes I, like Lynne, will just look around and think (or say out loud to DH) how lucky we are--we have our health, we have our needs and wants taken care of, healthy, happy children and grandchildren....not much more anyone can ask for. May we all have a healthy and peaceful 2024, and only good things!

I had some wonderful moments this year. Around my Israel trip last spring the first momnet of excitement when we got the minimum number of people to make it work. The trip brought many more moments and gratitude for the people I was with and how solicitous they were. I have a friend at synagogue that has become closer to me and I very much appreciate her. She made me very happy with her quick offer to go to the cemetery with my to see my mother's stone. Was very moving at morning minyan at zoom for my mom's yahrzeit. There were 5 people on the zoom from the Israel trip. I chanted El Malei Rachemim acceptably well (given that I sound like a frog these days). So mostly, happy momnets when people came through, often unexpectedly.
Happy New Year everyone!

It's early Monday morning (around 5am). I just realized I hadn't checked this thread (nor the other former WW message board thread) from yesterday that I normally check every single day. And today's says to go back to this one, so here I am.
I remember a few times tears came. The most recent was a few days ago when I watched the video of the 1000 musicians in Israel performing a new piece about bringing home the hostages. If you haven't seen it, here's a link: www.facebook.com/100053844330956/videos/1855983324837740/
I was asleep last night long before the replay in the Pacific time zone of the ball falling in New York City.
