What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry to be opening our thread so early . DH and I are leaving soon for our traditional NYE outing with dear friends. I will almost certainly be too tired (and perhaps a bit tipsy) to post later. PLEASE GO BACK AND POST FOR SUNDAY ON THE EARLIER THREAD.
What are you looking forward to in 2024? A particular event? The completion (or perhaps the furtherance) of a goal? A new phase of life?
I’ll be back tomorrow to post.

I just went to the Sunday thread and responded there. Take a look; if you haven't seen the video whose link I posted, you'll want to.
I'm looking forward to another year of good health and happiness. I'm looking forward to a meeting I've been wanting to have with my rabbi about improving the b'nei mitzvah prep curriculum I teach. I'm also hoping for more students, whether from my own congregation or another one where I'm on the list of tutors for b'nei mitzvah. Enrollment in most of the local synagogues has dropped, partially due to the pandemic when a lot of families (of all ages) left and haven't returned. I may have to look for other sources of income than tutoring for b'nei mitzvah...

I’m looking forward to a few events in particular. One is (God willing) the birth of a healthy grandson in April. Another is the bat mitzvah of my fourth grandchild. DH is planning to retire this year, probably in August. And I’m turning 70!

Ah, my last day to mostly sleep and read in bed. I think it has done my cold good so I'm glad the timing worked out. Obviously I want this cold to be gone by next week! Today I feel better and I only have 7 days until my big event. I didn't do my strength training this past week. I feel it's critical I get strength training done every day before I go and also keep my steps up. I know without a doubt this will help me be more active in Israel. My food has also been haywire so I wll be posting again starting today. I am going there to give service so the fitter I am, the more positive I feel, the better all around.
I decided to try to just have a carry on bag. Mine is torn, mended with duct tape. I broke down and ordered a new one which is due on Thursday - just in time, which is a little nerve wracking but better than the first model I chose which said delivery Friday!

Holly, thank you for that link - it's wonderful!
I'm looking forward to my son's wedding next month, and to having all my family together in the same place. We're all going to kick up our heels and party like it's 2024!

Good afternoon everybody. Happy New Year! Hope you are all well and SAFE. Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I am looking forward to getting healthier this year. I'm actually pretty excited about making changes.
Have a peaceful day, Lee
PS --- We had bagels with lox, cream cheese, red onion and tomato for breakfast, and they were wonderful. Our Southern lunch was wonderful too; black-eyed peas, greens and cornbread (made by me, with DS helping to stir the batter).
