What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Hi everyone, I loved reading about what you are looking forward to this year; it sounds like there are some wonderful times planned! Great start!
What if anything DIFFERENT are you planning to do this year regarding food? It doesn't have to be weight loss related, although that is certainly top of mind for me. Actually, what is top of mind for me is health, and weight loss is a part of that equation.
Here are some things id like to do differently this year:
1. I'd like to prepare more meals ahead of time, for the freezer. DH is not a cook, and so I am the one who does meal prep. Too often I find myself doing last minute cooking, when I'd really prefer to be taking a walk, or doing something else. This should be pretty easy for me, and I'm determined make it happen.
2. I enjoy drinking, but wine is caloric and without nutritional value. I'm going to cut down this year. 3. I do include veggies with meals, but frankly, they are pretty boring to me. I'm going to look for more ways to prepare vegetables that I enjoy.
Your thoughts?

gazelle18 , Lynne, check out roasted vegetables. I types "recipes" and "vegetables" into my search engine (I use Google) and there were loads of recipes listed for roasted vegetables. I also saw some collections of vegetable recipes. Here are the first two that showed up: 50 Great Vegetable Recipes: www.acouplecooks.com/vegetable-recipes/ 25 East Vegetable Recipes: theplantbasedschool.com/easy-vegetable-recipes/
There are also scores of sites with vegetarian recipes. Your search engine is your friend...
I went through a period in my life when I loved to cook. I tried all sorts of recipes all the time. I even thought about what I'd put onto a menu for a breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant (like a diner). And after a particular incident occurred, I stopped cooking altogether. I've recently (maybe in the last year or so) started trying out new recipes. And in December, I decided to try out more and more new ones. So I think that be the main "different" thing I may incorporate into my life in the months ahead of me. (I generally eat a pretty healthy diet so I'm not too concerned with high-in-sugar desserts.) And I collect recipes that look like I'd enjoy eating the finished product. I have about a zillion of 'em already, so plenty to choose from. Plus I have a subscription (thanks to a dear friend) to the New York Times so I can get all of their recipes for free. (Without a subscription, there's a limit to how many a person can view; before mine, I think it may have been 5 each month.)

I haven't thought about what I can do differently about my eating. Since I've been doing WW, I have hardly missed a day of getting in all my fruits/vegetables, but I can always use new ideas. I don't much enjoy cooking, but I'm inspired by you ladies to look into some new veggie recipes.
First day back to work after the four-day weekend - should be lots of fun!

I'm preoccupied now with my trip, especially as they are talking about snow on Sunday!!!Determined to post my food today and do my strength training.
I would really like to get into sheet pan dinners. They seem like small miracles to me. The trick for me is to stock my refirgerator appropriately. This is a goal for when I get back.

Good afternoon everybody (practically evening). Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: As long as I eat my vegetables and fruit every day, I don't care if they get kind of boring. I know I need them.
Have a peaceful day, Lee
