What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you who stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well, warm and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: What's something you do that makes you happy?
For me, playing Scrabble definitely makes me happy. DS and I play just about every day, and our friend Carol plays with us once a month. She is coming over today, and I am smiling just thinking about it. We're going to have lunch today as well as playing, because she has something to do this morning so she will not get over to our house until lunchtime. We're providing broccoli soup (which I asked DH to make), and she'll be bringing something also. We have lots of fruit for dessert too.
I've been playing Scrabble since I was a little kid, and played "partners" with my mom against my dad. My grandma and sister liked to play, too, so my family has been Scrabble players for four generations! When a tile got damaged a year or so ago and I called the company for a replacement, I told them the story and they were very impressed.
We have a turntable board with wooden letter pieces and wooden holders that is at least 20 years old. It has a crack or two in it, but is still very usable. When we replace it, I want one that's the same style.
What makes you happy?
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I like to crochet (especially kippot which I like to design), read, play solitaire, do soduko. I also enjoy singing, even with my limited range. I like sharing a meal with friends, goi ng to the ballet or a concert. I often like to take a walk. Traveling has been very rewarding. I'm sure I could continue this list, but there's a bunch!

Yesterday's thread: When I was in my (very) late 20s, I was the supervisor of a department within the Group Claims department of an insurance company when one day, a woman in my group (with whom I'd also become friends outside of work) told me she was thinking about leaving the company. I told her, "As your supervisor, I have to ask you to give us two weeks notice, but as a friend, I'm asking you what do you intend to do next?" She hadn't given it much thought. I then asked whether she'd ever considered going to Europe; she hadn't. I then said, "Ya know, Kathy, if you don't go now, you'll probably never go..." And sure enough, several months later, I felt the same way and my words to her came back at me. I gave notice (more than only two weeks), shipped DS off to his father (who was living in British Columbia for a while), sold or gave away or put into storage everything I owned, drove my car to my parents' where it sat for the next period of time, and bought a one-way ticket to Amsterdam. I spent more than a year living, working and traveling in Europe and had probably the single best year of my life. Clearly I did all of that for myself and no one else.
Today's: listening to music. If I'm in DH's car, we listen mostly to classic rock. If I'm by myself, I'll find something on the computer. I'm a classically trained musician and my #1 favorite period in music is the Baroque (and #2 is either the Blues or Classic Rock, honest!)

Music makes me happy. Even if I'm in a sad mood, music helps me feel through it, and it cheers me up too. It also makes me happy to spend time with people who don't judge or exploit me. And it makes me happy to organize things and get things done. I like the feeling of accomplishment.
It's raining cats and dogs here, and I'm happy to be home and working, with a nice cup of tea on my desk. Everyone have a great day!

What makes me happy?
My morning routine of going to my coffee shop and while there doing several word puzzles, answering emails, and posting on this thread.
Listening to music makes me happy, as does taking fun hikes and drinking wine at the end of the day.
