What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)?

And for those of you who stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well, warm and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: What's something you do that helps you feel responsible?
For me, it's making lists, keeping calendars of what and when everyone's appointments are, and doing chores.
Today, for example, DS and I are going to drop off our good knives at a kitchen supply store (Sur La Table) to get them sharpened. DH picked out which ones he wanted sharpened, and they are sitting in a box on the kitchen table. It's about a 40 minute drive to the shop, and it's after 10AM already, so DS and I will have lunch while we are out. We're looking forward to that. I started a separate thread on the main board about The Cheesecake Factory, as there is one in the same mall and we haven't been to one in years. If you have any suggestions or comments, I'd be happy to hear from you.
As for making lists and calendars, I have them on the kitchen table, the computer desk, next to the TV (with the movie channels' numbers), and on the wall in the kitchen. They are very handy!!
I also make the majority of phone calls about whatever's going on.
How about you? Have a peaceful day, Lee

Scheduling things is a big part of my job at work and in the synagogue. I also make lists and spreadsheets. I am less good about this with my personal goals - I make shopping lists but kind of fall apart about other things that need regular care. This is a goal of mine to improve.

I'm responsible for supporting a large department with a lot of administrative needs, and I like the feeling of accomplishment when I take care of things for people. I too am a schedule-keeper and a list-maker, and this helps me prioritize and keep up.
Right now I'm waiting for a department to get back to me on a central issue, and I'm getting frustrated. Tell me you don't know, tell me to be patient or whatever, but don't give me crickets! Grr!
OK, rant over, I'm going to go make a cup of tea. It stopped raining, but it's still chilly here.

Every Sunday, I make a spreadsheet for the coming week. From it, I email the adults I tutor plus the parents of the kids I tutor showing them my "proposed" schedule and asking them to confirm or let me know what needs to be changed for them. I give a copy to DH so he knows my schedule too. It works for me!

I’m very big on calendars, and they have to be the kind that show a month at a time. That way, I can look ahead to the following week, and do whatever I need to do to be prepared for not current day , but the following few weeks. I use my iPad for my calendar.
I need to have a to do list; otherwise, I’ll definitely forget stuff.

Holly, the meeting with my boss went very well -- he's totally supportive, and I appreciate that. I am so grateful that I've had only wonderful bosses at this job.
I did finally hear back from the team that's been ignoring me. They answered one element of my question, but not the other. So I pushed harder (but sweetly) for the other piece of information I need, and I hope they don't take forever to answer me back on that.
My eating week is going well. I'm going to do my dance DVD during lunchtime, then have a point-friendly lunch afterward.
