What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Yesterday, Holly mentioned the intriguing concept of a “ta-da list,” presumably to replace the dreaded “to-do” list. What would a “ta-da” list look like for you? I’ll BBL to chime in on this.

Yesterday: I led a "creative" group (mostly women) in a program about Rosh Chodesh, and specifically about the month of Adar. I took notes on the "creative" part: ideas for our writing of a midrash! Ta-da! I successfully opened a Zoom meeting room for a Jewish Musings get together! Ta-da! I offered to move a 3pm (Pacific time zone) tutoring session for a boy to 2:30 in case he wanted to watch the Super Bowl (set to start at 3:30)! Ta-da! I made a delicious breakfast for myself that kept me until lunchtime, which I was able to move to a slightly later time than usual! Ta-da! I was able, by myself, to open the lid of a brand new jar (of roasted eggplant) when DH was out of the house! Ta-da! I created lunch, consisting of 1.9 oz of pasta (made entirely from whole grains, namely, quinioa and brown rice) and the afore-mentioned roasted eggplant (adding some of the pasta water to make it more like a "sauce")! Ta-da! I checked my personal email and responded to several that needed a response! Ta-da! I sent my monthly tutoring invoices (supposedly through January, but I included all the February sessions so far) to the parents of all the students I'm preparing for b. mitzvah! Ta-da! (and one parent paid me via VenMo within minutes!!!!) I got out my weekly proposed tutoring schedule to all the parents of the kids I tutor and to all the adults I tutor (learning to read Hebrew, becoming somewhat more fluent with Shabbat liturgy, etc.)! Ta-da! (I do this every Sunday, except when I forget to do it during the day or evening, and it gets done on Monday...) Last night's dinner (for me; DH makes his own) consisted of about 1/2 cup of (planned-over) brown rice topped with 1/2 package of Tastibite organic Madras Lentils (with I forgot what type of beans in a creamy tomato sauce); delish! Ta-da! I got to bed in time to watch one more episode of The Sopranos (I had recorded the entire series when it was on one of the pay stations when it was free for a time) before falling asleep! Ta-da!

Good morning and happy Monday! Let's see, a typical Monday ta-dah list would look like this:
Go to the gym at 5 a.m. for cardio and weight training. Sign on to my work laptop at 7 a.m. and tackle the tasks of the day. Check in with one of my sisters Review list of pre-wedding tasks Work on packing for wedding trip Get a birthday card for a friend's birthday this week Help DH with the dusting Go through the mail and shred/recycle the junk mail
I think I can get them all done, though the last two are the most likely to get bumped.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: My ta-da list for today will hopefully include my finally getting things straightened out for pre-approval for Wegovy with my endocrinologist, BC/BS and CVS Caremark. I'll keep you posted; please wish me good luck!
Have a peaceful day, Lee

I think I was a slug yesterday, especially in light of Peachy's day, so I am re-examining the day for some ta-da's: Got to Musings zoom Handled a call from someone from a synagogue in NYC interested in my Israel talk. I'm sure I did at least one other thing.
Today I got myself to do my upper body workout (it's been a MONTH).
