What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well today. I'm feeling good and very caffeinated, as I woke up at 3AM and have been drinking coffee most of the morning. I've also been reading posts over at the general discussion board (newgdt), and I feel inspired to change direction with our topic today. How about if we write today about gratitude? What are some good things in your life? This is kind of warming up to the topic before Thanksgiving, I know, but after the intensity of the past few days, I'd like to talk about what I feel thankful for. Please feel free to write about yours or whatever you want!
Things I feel grateful for: That I live in the USA and can make my voice heard. The sun shining. The leaves changing color. My friends and family, including of course my online ones. Modern technology. Electricity, running water, appliances to use them, and comfort. Being able to think, feel, and share these thoughts and feelings. Having people in my life who like to have conversations. Good food. Holidays. My DS having a job with potential for the future. Financial stability (some blips, but basically things are okay). Healthcare. Flowers and trees. Thanksgiving coming up soon. Having clothes that fit and that I like. And so much more.
Also, as Peachy said on yesterday's thread, having hope that political things will turn out all right.
I'll be back later. Have a peaceful day, Lee

Great topic. Thanks, Lee.
Today DS#4 has orientation for his new job as a courtesy clerk in a supermarket. He'll work 16-20 hours a week. I'm grateful for that because he will have to get out of bed to go to work. He typically sleeps in half a day and binges the other half. Having a job will lift his spirits.

I'm grateful that there's a shul less than 2 miles from my house that has morning minyan every day (we had 8 people today; Howard led p'sukei d'zimrah and I led shacharit). I'm grateful to have found a man who has my best interests at heart (yes, I married him after having made some less good choices in the past). I'm grateful for certain specific individuals in my life (colleagues and friends, some of whom are not both). This thread and the people who post on it. Many, many of my former students, quite a few of whom are still in touch with me. My sister. My brother-in-law. My son. My grandchildren. My daughter-in-law. Some of my cousins. My body. The ability to obtain things I need (and many of the things I want). The majority of the parents of my students and former students.
More later.
THANK YOU, Lee, for today's topic. I had no idea!

Boker Tov All - I just wrote a nice long post & it is off in cyberspace now, LOL! Let's try that again!
Today I am thankful that, with our "intermittent weather" we are now having sunshine! I'm thankful for family & friends, for my health, my comfortable home, heat in winter, cool in summer - and if the electricity goes off, there is a woodstove in winter & the river in summer!
I'm getting ready to bake - I'm thankful that my 15 y o grandson is coming to spend the weekend with us!
And yes, Lee - THANK YOU for today's topic! All things bright and beautiful - much better to think about those!
Have a good day ladies!

I have so much in life to be thankful for. I am thankful my family is (mostly) healthy, and all 6 of my grandchildren are adorable. I am thankful I no longer worry as much about small things. I am thankful that my life has purpose. I am thankful my body is still doing what it needs to do. I could go on and on....

I'm grateful that with all my aches and pains I am still "okay". I'm grateful for my wonderful friends, synagogue community, this thread, that I still have my job, my wonderful apartment. I'm also thankful that my mother (who is 92) is healthy enough to come up for Thanksgiving this year - last year she had fallen and broke some ribs. She will be the only one from her generation still at the table.

I'm grateful for all of you and for my DH and children, and some really wonderful friends. I am especially grateful for the ability to listen, learn, grow and change, and to overcome obstacles. How awful would it be if all we could do was wallow in our fear and circumstances? We have so many more options than our ancestors did to change our lives and our futures.
After growing up poor and struggling financially most of my adult life, I am grateful to be out of debt and able to save a little. I'm grateful that there are such wonderful things as physical therapy for my sciatica and my shoulder issue, and that I am in good health otherwise. And I'm grateful that two of my kids are launched and doing well on their own. Only one more to go, and he'll do things in his own time, just as he always has, I imagine.
At this moment, I'm grateful that DS25 is doing the laundry at home, putting all the clean dishes away, and taking out all the trash. I think it's my turn to cook dinner tonight, and I'm grateful that I don't have to do all the cooking all the time!

I am not grateful for the mouse I believe I saw out of the corner of my eye last night. I would like him to leave.

Just heard from my sister that my brother-in-law is in the hospital. Pacemaker. He doesn't want visitors, and she says she's fine. I checked with my niece. She says he's out of the woods. I asked whether her mother really is fine. Still waiting to hear back from her. (They're all in the LA area.)
If you do a mi sh'beirach, he's Avraham Yitzchak haCohen ben Zelda... Thanks.
