What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you who stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Today's topic: Water and the Jewish connection.
Since Israel is generally a dry country, water is very important. There are prayers for rain, and people need water for personal use, plus for agriculture, including taking care of animals.
I drink a lot of water myself. One beverage I like is to mix water with orange juice, so it won't be too sweet.
In the Middle/Dark ages, Jews were different in that we regularly kept cleaner, and it was one way that we were pointed out for persecution.
Soda Stream, a carbonated water company, is based in Israel. They have had to deal with protests and boycotts, especially when they were based in the West Bank.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

Drinking a lot of water is one habit encouraged by WW that I have no trouble with. I've always been a major water-drinker. On work days, I sip it at my desk all day long, and I drink it after dinner too.
The newlyweds are driving up from San Diego to have Shabbat dinner with us. Our bffs are out of town today and tomorrow, so we're having dinner here. DH is making pot roast in the crock pot; he's off pretty soon to get the challah and some fruit to cut up for dessert. Looking forward to seeing DS33 and DDIL!
Thank you for a fun week, Lee! Shabbat shalom!

When I lived in Tucson, AZ, I learned that our climate / soil (etc.) conditions were very similar to Israel's. There apparently had been partnerships between various fields of science between Israel and Tucson; one that I remember had to do with water (although I don't remember what it was about).
I make more than 64 oz of herbal tea every morning. It's very very very diluted (partly because I prefer it weak). I fill two 15-ox travel mugs, one slightly over 16 oz, and one 24 oz one (that is, it's supposed to be 3 cups, but it holds more). I attempt to finish all four mugs between the time I wake up and the time I go to sleep. Most days I'm successful. Other times, I don't put much into the fridge to add to the next day's herbal tea...
