What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread: Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy
And for those of you who stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

I received this business email today, subject line::Self-Reflection Toolkit – Secret Elixirs to Create Success
Incorporating self-reflection into your professional routine can lead to continuous self-improvement, more meaningful work experiences, and increased satisfaction in your career or business. Whether through journaling, discussions with mentors or colleagues, or dedicated periods of introspection, the practice of self-reflection can significantly contribute to your personal, and professional success and well-being.
Self-reflection is a critical practice for professionals across all areas for several reasons. It involves introspectively examining one's beliefs, thoughts, behavior, actions, and experiences to gain insights and improve oneself. These Self-Reflection elixirs apply to every aspect of one’s personal and professional life.
I get the value of what’s being discussed but I found the framing odd. The first half of the subject line sounds like something we need leading up to Rosh Hashanah. The thought of “secret elixirs” certainly aroused my interest but in a weird way! What do you think?

In the old days, I’d buy actual paper magazines. Standing in the grocery store checkout line, a magazine would enticingly claim a “secret” to weight loss, or an “elixir” for solving one’s every problem. And if it was both “secret” and an “elixir,” I was hooked. That’s what this reminds me of!

I think self-reflection is a good idea to do often, including in one's professional life, but I'm not sure I would call it an elixir. Maybe a tool. And to be honest, a lot of my professional work time is just getting routine tasks done. I pay a lot closer attention to my interactions with people than with self-reflecting in my working life.

Good afternoon everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I don't believe in "magic elixirs." If problems were easily solved, they wouldn't be problems.
Have a peaceful rest of the day, Lee

I too see the benefits of self-reflection. Give it a try. Couldn't hurt...
