What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Hi everyone,
As I write this, it is still Saturday night. The clocks will spring forward at 2 a.m. and we will be in daylight savings time. Personally I love it. I enjoy having more daylight at the end of the day. How do you feel about DST? Do you have trouble adjusting? Does the extra daylight work for you, pr does it throw your schedule off?

I overslept this morning!
Although I do prefer more sunlight later in the day, apparently going to bed at my "usual" (Standard) time didn't work for me so well this time!
And no one asked me, I way prefer NOT having to change my clocks every year. I would prefer one standard all year long. My personal preference is Daylight Saving, but I wouldn't be angry if California (or the entire country) stopped changing from Standard to Daylight Saving every year...
Being that I overslept, I have to run. Still need to shower, dress, make and eat breakfast, drive to my carpool buddy's house to pick her up and then drive about 16 miles to teach Sunday School (I finished my lesson plan yesterday; I have to make photocopies of the handout, sort and staple the pages, punch the standard three holes before handing them out and this morning's get together (we call it "Kehillah Gathering"" ["kehillah" = community / congregation / that sort of thing, so the entire school meets together at 9am) because we teachers are going to put on a [very] brief skit about Purim... (I'm playing Vashti!!!!!).

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel. Re today's topic: I don't like getting up when it's dark and it stays dark longer because of the time change. I don't care that it is light longer in the evening. I would be happier if there were no time changes! Grr! Do I sound grumpy? I did get up at my usual time, and then changed my clock. Fortunately, DS and DH got up "early" too, and DS and I changed all the clocks while DH made breakfast. hollygail, You'll do great in the play! Everybody, have a peaceful day, Lee

I don't mind getting up in the dark -- I get up before sunrise anyway. I do like having light later in the warmer months. I'm not crazy about having to adjust an hour, but it's not that big a deal - I adjust in a day or two and it's fine. But there's such an uproar about this every time we change the clocks, that I think we should just probably take a leaf out of Hawaii and Arizona's book and not bother with daylight savings time at all.
DS33 had to be at work at 9 a.m. today, and I drove him instead of him taking the bus, because he does have trouble adjusting his sleep. I won't be surprised if he tells us at least one coworker overslept and got to work late.

I prefer daylight savings tiime though changing to it I miss that hour the first day anyway. I wouldn't mind staying on it. The change back again is always tough even with an extra of hour of sleep. Right now it's in my favor becasue they change the clocks later here in the UK so I will only come back to a 4 hour diffrence instead of 5.
