What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)? Holly Lee Louise Lynne Peachy

Hi everyone, In honor of Oscar night (Sunday night), the question of the day is: What’s one of your favorite movies with either a Jewish story or Jewish characters? What do you like about it?
I have a lot of these favorites. But my question asked for one favorite , so right now my favorite is the Adam Sandler coming of age tale entitled “You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah.” It’s adorable and funny, and stars Sandler and his immediate family. I recommend it!

I've heard only good things about "You Are SO Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah" and haven't yet seen it.
I really like Crossing Delancey. I watch it every time it returns to some TV channel. I like the setting (makes me only a little nostalgic for the NYC I grew up in) and is filled with actors I like to watch. The writing is clever and the direction superb. I've never thought about my "favorite" Jewish / Jewish-themed movie, so whether it's really my "favorite" is to be determined. IT's the first one that came into my mine when I thought about the category...

For me, it's "The Frisco Kid." I just love it, and I've seen it a zillion times. Gene Wilder is just perfect as the rabbi, and who doesn't love Harrison Ford as a good-hearted bank robber?

Good afternoon everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I also am fond of Crossing Delancey, for the same reasons as Holly.
I have a busy week ahead of me, so don't know how much I'll be posting.
Have a peaceful rest of the day, Lee
