What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Hi everyone, I read the news online dally, and that includes a digital subscription to The Forward. I am genuinely flummoxed and aghast at the increase in antisemitic and anti-Zionist acts going on. In just one daily Forward issue, there were stories about antisemitism and anti Zionism in four different geographical areas regarding four different types of activity. It’s heartbreaking and scary and sad.
Here’s my question: Does the current round of antisemitic sentiment cause you to be more circumspect/quiet about being Jewish when you are out and about? Or, does it cause you to be more “out and proud” about being Jewish? Any personal incidents come to mind? I’ll BBL give my take.

I've been somewhat shying away from reading about all the anti-semitic and anti-Zionist and anti-Israel reports. I have not changed my behavior in the outside world based on my Judaism. I know some people have limited their "out" Jewishness and some have gone out of their way to publicize it. I not in either category; I'm holding steady. I understand both choices and support people who feel the necessity of choosing one or the other.
It's a difficult time and there are difficult decisions to be made.

Actually what's causing me to be the most circumspect is my feelings about Netanyahu. I want to feel proud of Israel. I have similar feelings about my own country - I would like to be able to feel proud of that as well. The current trends have caused my synagogue to be even more cautious. We always have a police car out fron and are planning our next round of "hardening" our exterior. Scary times. I have not had any personal experiences but I know that they abound.

I haven't stopped wearing my magen David earrings, I haven't taken down our front door's mezuzah, and I don't lower my voice in public when talking to people about Israel or my Jewishness. I live in a large city, though, with a large Jewish population. My rabbi says to be vocal and proud, and I know he's right, but I admit I find the state of the world scary and disheartening. I do feel better when I go to shul - community offers comfort just by being there.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel.
Re today's topic: I read a lot of articles online and in the Washington Post about Judaism, anti-Semitism, Israel, etc., and find them disturbing at best. I'm not sure if the world has changed, or if it's that the bigots are now more open about expressing their views.
Have a peaceful day, Lee
PS --- I have good news; my first shipment of Wegovy is supposed to arrive today!! I am very happy and excited about this.
