What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:
Frieda (hopefully)?

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting — you are welcome to, but you are also welcome to chime in. Don’t be shy!

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well and SAFE! Please pray for Israel. Today's topic: March. Can you believe that it is the end of March already? What comes to my mind is the saying that March "comes in like a lamb but goes out like a lion." Is this true for you? We've been lucky here in NOVA; very little snow, and not too much cold weather, all winter. March in particular has been nicer than usual. We have flowers and budding trees all over the place. I could live without the dandelions and ants, though!! Speaking of particularly nice things, the cherry blossoms and Bradford pears have been beautiful this year. My county has planted more cherry trees along the main road near me, so I got to see them when they bloomed. Very lovely, especially the contrast of pink (cherries) and white (pears) blossoms. We currently have forsythia all around the neighborhood, plus daffodils and irises. I haven't seen a lot of tulips yet. I love Spring!! hollygail please send me an email with the link for later! Thanks!! Have a peaceful day, Lee

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb! We have had some very warm days but the "lamb" part is still a work in progress. I do love all the buds around soon to be opening and the magnolia trees are just getting there - big buds and some already open.
Baking a cake today, a marble cake for my brother who lI wll be visiting next week.

Good morning and shavua tov! In SoCal, March is usually much more lamb-link than lion-like, but this month has been very rainy, with lots of thunder and some lightning too. It poured Friday night and most of yesterday and last night, and it's still raining now. More thunderstorms are expected today. I just ordered some essential groceries to be delivered; DH usually shops for produce and essentials on Sundays, but he has a headache, and neither of us want to go out in this rain. So I'm giving our deliver person a generous tip - it's definitely worth it.
Our bffs' DS turned 35 yesterday, so we celebrated it at Shabbat dinner Friday night. He wanted an ice cream cake, so I ordered one from Baskin-Robbins and planned for the points for myself. It was a chocolate cake with cookies-and-cream ice cream, and it went perfectly with our salmon, mashed potatoes, vegetables and fruit. The birthday boy had invited three more guests, and everyone brought challah, so we had tons of it, which is always a delight!

We've had more rain this month than probably in all of 2023... (I haven't checked the records to see if that's true, but I really wouldn't be surprised to find out it is!)
I remember growing up in NYC and March almost always came in very cold and left getting ready for spring...
However, in these days of "climate change" NOTHING is predictable as based on history...
Today's forecast for this part of San Diego is low 50s and either cloudy (with a tiny amount of sun only twice all day long) or rain most of the day, twice (that is, at two different times during the day) thunder and rain, or else cloudy... I'm wearing sweats all day today and have no plans to go out... DH borrowed my umbrella to go out for a short time (Starbucks is his normal hang out); he may stop at one market to buy a couple of things, though he may skip it depending on how heavy the rain is.
